While I wasn't a guest at the time, the staff kindly allowed me to use the restroom, which I very much appreciated. I had the chance to walk through the interior and found the hotel to be absolutely beautiful. The bathroom was very clean and lovely--check out my photos I'm flying out of Berlin after a trip to several EU countries and decided to leave Poland a day early so I could stay here for the night and be closer to the airport. I've never had so many food options at a breakfast buffet - omelette bar, bacon, sausages, salmon, cheeses, pancakes, fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, caviar, bread, pastries, juices & smoothies. They had literally everything - and it was all delicious! The gym was good - plenty of equipment and they had water, hot teas, and fruit available at the spa. Valet team was very efficient & always had our car available when needed. Our room was well kept & cleaned. Espresso machine was great. Overall, I only have positive things to say about my stay here. I met former U.S. President Bill Clinton at the breakfast buffet; I got to start my day by giving him a handshake and exchanged pleasantries which was certainly a unique experience for me. That is just one highlight of many during our great stay. It's also quite famous for being the hotel where Michael Jackson dangled his baby outside of one of the front windows. It's located right next to the Brandenburg Gate and the U.S. Embassy in the center of Berlin so this hotel scores high in walkability. It's a very large and well run 5 star hotel that seems to cater to a lot of business travelers most of all. The check-in was smooth and the entire staff that we encountered was very polite. Our room was quite large and the bed was comfortable. As with many European hotels, the air-conditioning did not work very well, especially between the hours of 11 PM to 6 AM. We ordered some tea to the room and it was very good and the complementary breakfast in the hotel lobby was wonderful. They have tons of options there and it was a great start to our day. Pricing can be a bit high, but it is a 5 star hotel, and it's still less than some other hotels in Berlin. I would say that the price is fair because you really get a lot in return. There are also plenty of cabs and Ubers right out front so if you need to catch a ride, this is a really easy place to do it. I would highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again next time I am visiting Berlin. read more

Our room had non-working AC for first 3 days. Hotel was only able to offer a fan and didn't have a service technician come till the third day of our stay. They offered no compensation or discount for the room. I also requested ice to be delivered to my room multiple times due to a knee injury and they failed to deliver multiple nights. Hotel Adlon creates an incredible customer experience. From the check-in process to the daily hospitality, to the speed at which our housekeeping needs were met, to the concierge services, everything was so well-executed. Even when throngs of fans were outside congregating for the World Cup games or hoping to catch a glimpse of The Rolling Stones, who were staying there, the hotel staff ensured that there was no disruption in services to the guests. Overlooking the Brandenburg Gate, this hotel is infamously known for the incident in which Michael Jackson held his son over the balcony but that shouldn't be the only thing the place is known for. They have a 2-Michelin Star Restaurant -Lorenz Adlon (see my separate review for this), a ridiculous breakfast buffet that comes with the room, a gorgeous lobby, beautiful rooms, and a very welcoming and capable staff. Walking into the lobby, large bouquets of fresh flowers greeted us and opulence surrounded us. Our room was luxurious and updated with European-inspired accoutrements. Conference rooms were very accommodating and access to and from the meeting spaces and guest rooms was easy. Despite having just a few elevators, we never waited more than perhaps a minute for one and usually, one was waiting for us. A highlight of each day was the breakfast buffet. Various pastries, breads, cheeses, flavored smoked salmon and trout, breakfast sausages and meats, pretzels, dim sum, rice, fruits, yogurts, cereals, juices, smoothies, teas, and an omelette station are available. Unique aspects of the buffet include a variety of caviars, champagne, and even Berlin honey straight from the honeycomb! Made-to-order menu items such as waffles, pancakes, steak, eggs benedict, and ham are also included. This is definitely one of the best breakfast buffets I've seen. This review is actually belated from the pre-COVID era. I gained some new-found courage by passing the exam in my profession last night. I have seen Hotel Adlon's Brandenburg Gate coffee on instagram many times. While I was in Berlin, for law school I might add, I literally bugged my best study abroad friend to come with me to grab coffee or a meal there. This was literally the first place I went to "for the gram." The doormen were nice to us, but from the get go we were treated stiffly by the waiter. Perhaps because we looked young, perhaps because we were dressed down (and I'll be honest as an American used to 72F CA weather I might have been sweating a little due to the summer weather). Since the atmosphere was bad I only ordered this coffee and it came obviously done poorly with no apology or explanation. I have no doubt if we had dressed up as we do for legal events or for the Barristers' Ball, we would not have been treated this way. Please remember that you do not know someone's life, including how much wealth they have or how much they'll spend at your establishment, simply based on looks. read more

We just stayed here for a week and wow were we surprised with the condition of the rooms. We first stayed in a Superior Deluxe Room. The room had dirt and damage in many places and was well worn. When we checked in the television and heating system did not work. They were unable to send a repair person until 5pm the next day. Their remedy was to upgrade us to an Adlon Executive Suite which had a working TV and heat (yay!) but a lot of wear and damage as well. When speaking with the manager of the hotel, their remedy was to offer me to stay again at a discounted rate. Why would you spend your vacation in a tired room with broken fixtures and stains again? This is not a place that I can afford to stay over but I appreciate the decorations in the hotel lobby and the lounge next to it People told me that it is actually an attraction - "a place to stop for drinks next to the Brandenburg Gate." Well, they were right. The luxurious feel of the whole lobby was fantastic and luxurious. The waiting staff for the drinks was obviously professionally trained. What has happened to The Adlon? This review is a difficult one to write as my intention is not a critique of ground level staff; but with the decline of this once great establishment. Sadly, this property is operating on its iconic name and is nothing in comparison to what it once was. My wife and I typically travel to Berlin once or twice a year. For the last 15 years, I often frequented Hotel Adlon, sometime for a stay or enjoying a great meal in one of their fine restaurants or just having a coffee at the lobby lounge. Unfortunately, my most recent experience will prevent me from ever returning to this hotel again. For our trip in Mars 2023, we decided we would splurge on a nice afternoon tea at Hotel Adlon. Two days prior, between some sightseeing, we went to enjoy a drink at the bar, and I noticed the service was not the same anymore. The doorman outside didn't greed us, they didn't even open the door for us. Inside the staff were having a great time chatting among them but totally ignoring the guests passing by. On the way to the washroom, in the stairway someone dropped a large amount of ice cream on the carpet and no one seems to be in a rush to have it cleaned. The bathroom was not attended and lacking in cleanliness. The day we came for our booked afternoon tea, I was very troubled with the strange feeling I was getting and I wanted to share it with one of the managers of the hotel, hoping to release some of my frustrations regarding the poor service we were experiencing in the last few days. The General Manager was busy, so instead, the Front office manager was sent to deal with me. Lovely gentlemen and very attentive to my concerns. We had a nice conversation and I honestly felt that my message has been taken seriously. Shortly after the meeting we proceeded to our well anticipated afternoon tea. Unfortunately, our experience went from bad to worse. We arrived for our Afternoon Tea sitting to be greeted in a wonderful manner by the lobby lounge reception staff. However, the standard of service diminished immediately on being seated. First of all, we were placed in a dingy corner table by the far end of the bar area. Having walked into the magnificent lobby lounge, the area we were in was quite disappointing. At that moment we realized that the afternoon tea during the week was not very popular. I counted only two tables including ours, the rest was the regular lobby lounge business of the hotel. We took the champagne tea option and our waiter was a young man with glasses and dark jacket and definitely not to the standard of this kind of establishment. Either we were not to the waiter's liking or he was very tired and at the end of his shift. The only positive I could attribute to his manner would be to call him perfunctory. We were sadly let down by some dreadful service. The champagne was served and we waited 45 minutes to get our first dish. They only have two tables with afternoon tea in the entire lobby lounge, what is going on? I asked the waiter what was the problem? Why the food is taking so long to be served? His answer was " Yes, it is too long. The kitchen is slow today". Then the sandwiches finally came and they were dry and heavy. I was expecting lightness and perfection and I was rewarded completely the opposite. We were never ask if we wanted a refill on the sandwiches or the tea. By that time, I was not a very happy person and asked to speak with the Food and Beverage manager. A very nice and well-mannered gentleman came and I shared with him the terrible experience we were having. He sincerely apologizes and was informed as well by the waiter of the unfortunate situation. I gave him my contact details and he left us. I was hoping that things will improve rapidly but again, we waited patiently for another 40 minutes before the next course, scones and the sweet pastries arrived. The scones were small and dry and some of the desserts were tasty and some were not. I've been to a number of establishments for afternoon tea before and accustomed to a certain standard which I felt was totally missing. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. In addition, the server was not on top of things either, as I mentioned earlier. At that point we honestly had enough of this kind of rude treatment and we decided to leave (to be honest I just wanted to get out). I asked the waiter for the bill. He was apparently surprised that we were leaving so soon before the last dessert was served (No thank you, enough torture for one day). I received a bill for a total of €200 exactly. No compensations for all the trouble we went through. On the way out of the hotel I run into the Food and Beverage manager who witnessed how furious I was, and he promised to contact me as soon as possible. 3 months later, to this day, I am still waiting! Amazing buffet breakfasts, and great location at the Brandenburg Gate. However, the service was very uneven and sometimes even terrible: our luggage took 1 1/2 hours to get to our room, and our large piece was missing, and we were brought someone else's luggage! We were given an awful room at first with a stained rug, broken A/C and terrible view but then demanded a better room. The second room was very ice with incredibly comfortable bedding, nice view, and very large luxurious bathroom. Everytime something was not working in the room, like wifi, for example, it took 2 to 3 calls to get any action. Such an expensive hotel should have 5-star service to match. read more

This is a lovely hotel. The rooms are big and clean, the service is great as well as the location. And it has three more things that I consider the best part of all. 1. Incredible view from the Brandenburg Tor. It's great to come back at night because the Brandenburg Tor is illuminated. 2. It has a lovely lobby. It makes me feel in Casablanca's movie. 3. Post-Reunification, refined luxury from the international Kempinki chain, located in view of Brandenburg Gate. We stopped for afternoon tea. A pianist played as staff familar with white glove service quickly dispatched each order. I had the Adlon's torte, a specialty that rivals the Torte in Austria. Hotel Adlon's lobby cum cafe offers grouped seating in high-end, upholstered furnishings beneath a high dome of blue and yellow stained glass. Michael Jackson dangled his son, Blanket, from a high, hotel window here in 2002. Ignore that, and the fact that the current structure replaces one burned down when victorious Soviet soldiers were both enthusiastic and careless in the wine cellar in 1945. read more

Hotel Adlon Kempinski surpassed our expectations. I have never stayed in such a swanky hotel! Seriously, onlookers would watch the hotel's front door to see the people who walk in and out. This is the hotel where British royalty stay, along with President Obama and, yes, Michael Jackson. The service was impeccable. We were greeted by all of the employees and the concierge was beyond helpful. Now to our room. Free wi-fi along with free use of an iPad. The bathroom had a separate bathtub and shower. The shower had a rainfall shower head that was heavenly. The towel warmer was a great touch! With all of the employees, I felt very safe and the rear entry was only accessible with the room key. Oh, and the Christmas decorations throughout the hotel was beautiful! If you are planning a trip to Berlin, this is THE place to stay. It is virtually on the Pariser Platz with the Brandenburg Gate visual from our hotel room. It was a magical area during the holiday season. Fabulous classical facility with horrible management. The concierge was very disappointing. They made a reservation for dinner for us, their recommendation, but when we returned later and asked if it was booked, only on our third try could anyone, front desk or concierge, find it. Then their written instructions for our taxi driver had an incomplete address, so he didn't know where to go. The doorman didn't know where it was, and finally a friendly passerby pulled out his phone and looked up the right address, while we sat in the back of the taxi waiting. At 11:20pm, an alarm started blaring, followed by a recorded announcement in German, and then in English. "Immediately evacuate the hotel - there is a technical problem." Then it was repeated. So we grabbed clothes and some valuables and headed to the stairwell. In the hallway a man in street clothes came by and asked us, in a heavy accent, what we were doing. We, along with four others in our hallway, said we were evacuating. He told us to go back to our rooms. From there I called the operator. She said, "Oh, you're the second person to call about this. I don't know anything about it." And that was it. No "all clear," no feedback, just let it drop. That's the lamest system for a firm alarm and the end of it that I've ever heard of. Beautiful building in a great location, right next to Brandenburg Gate and the Holocaust Memorial. Our room was luxurious and provided for everything we could want. But incompetent management at every turn. read more

Nothing compares. My suite view was fabulous - directly overlooking the square and Brandenburg Gate. Excellent, courteous, professional and timely staff, room service, concierge. Suite well furnished (obviously?) Stayed a couple of nights and hope to again in the future.. truly a highlight of any trip. Also - very dog friendly. My two large dogs stayed here with me and they were provided with dog bowls and beds. It was nice to walk the nearby Tiergarten! read more

Wow, I've never been treated as rudely as I was at Hotel Adlon. The 19 year old doorman (pre-pubescent bouncer?) stopped my friend and me on our way in and aggressively asked why we were there. Huh? I was so taken aback. I answered that we were interested in grabbing a drink and seeing the historical hotel's lobby, to which the doorman/bouncer rolled his eyes and begrudgingly allowed us to pass. Upon entering the lobby, we tried to take a quick photo but the doorman/bouncer had followed us in, reprimanded us for taking photos, and pointed us toward the exit... there was no indication that photos weren't allowed, as evidenced by the mother taking photos of her daughter right next to us. We left with a terrible taste in our mouths - very disappointing for a hotel that's supposed to be so reputable and historically relevant. read more

Great historic hotel in a great location! Quality and attention to detail is the norm at this place. The rooms are well-appointed and quiet. They have an amazing breakfast buffet in a beautiful space. I can also recommend the Restaurant for dinner - it is like I image fine dining was in the 1920's or 1930's - its definitely an experience - formal and uber professional. The pool and spa is wonderful as well - had a memorable massage and some relaxing time in the pool area. When I return to Berlin there is no doubt this is where I will stay. read more

The Adlon Hotel is luxurious, friendly, and very well located. The suites are very well equipped, huge TVs in both the living area and the bedroom, very clean, and an amazing bathtub to relax in. The staff in very friendly and will go out of their way to help you. The gym is spacious and the pool is gorgeous... Fabulous location terrible management. I was expecting to stay in a great hotel for the high end price. As it turned out we were put at the back of the hotel room 368 that faced a dirty atrium rooftop and other hotel rooms and corridors. People walking to their rooms could see right into our room. It was an absolute night mare. When we asked to be moved they said they had nothing else available so they could not help us out. There are so many better places to stay in Berlin. read more
