Want to buy a vehicle using Berlin City's "Easy" process? - forget about it. I tried to buy a 2019 used vehicle and offered $400 less than they wanted. The salesman - "Bill" told me he would check with his manager and get back to me later that day or the next morning. 10 days later, hearing nothing and after chasing them, an admin reaches out to me and asks if she can "help". A few emails later she says the car miraculously sold that day. All I can say is BEWARE. A complete waste of my time. Weak sales and support all around. Not impressed. When trading in my lease to purchase a new toyota I was told by the salesman and the finance guy that I would not be charged the $350 disposition fee for cleaning my trade because I was buying another toyota. Later I received the bill for $350 and when I asked the dealership I was told that "the fee is an incentive to keep leasers leasing. It is not waived going from a lease to a retail purchase unless you finance with Toyota (which I was advised not to because they found a better rate). I wish there was a better answer than that." I had requested to finance with Toyota to avoid this fee but was reassured several times that it would not be assessed. Needless to say I do not recommend them when asked about where I got my car. read more

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Beware of Berlin City Auto Group of Maine/NH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I experienced them as the worst dealership I have dealt with in 40+ years of buying cars. Some History: In 2018 I purchased a low mileage "just like new" used Rav4 from them and it immediately flooded the passenger side floor pan several inches deep due to a blocked AC drain. When I complained I was told they would not fix it as it was too expensive to do so. They took it back and put it right back up for sale with no disclosure of the problem. Good luck to the poor sucker who bought it next. I then bought a new Rav4 and was provided with a free two year maintenance plan including tire inspections. While they were "inspecting" my car and tires they conveniently neglected to tell me about abnormal tire wear and the misalignment of my car. Once the car had about 22K miles I noticed the problem myself and they said gee that's too bad as tire problems are only covered for 12K miles. They then immediately tried to sell me $1000 worth of tires while taking zero responsibility for their negligence. Do they try and milk the customers for money ? They said I only need oil changes every 10K miles (while I'm on the free maintenance plan) but when they can make a buck on it they tell me I need to change the oil twice as often. They deny my car has an alignment problem but then want me to pay them to correct the alignment. They tell me I need tires but after I state they should share the cost due to their negligence they reverse and say I don't need tires. They pushed for a $3300 car repair on another car of ours that turned out to be $500 at another shop. Are they dishonest ? They were prosecuted by the Maine Attorney General for falsely telling customers they were not responsible for warranty problems. AUGUSTA MAINE - Attorney General William J. Schneider announced that the Berlin City Auto Group of Portland has settled claims that implied warranty and remedy disclaimers made when selling new cars to Maine consumers were unfair and deceptive. If you go there you better bring a lawyer and your own car mechanic. If you have trouble with them don't expect an ethical response. PS: Toyota USA could not care less about business practices at Toyota dealerships. read more

So I contacted Jake Drouin, my salesman,at Berlin City. I found out today the motor for the fan, for the heat, needs to be replaced. I live in North Conway. I really do not have time to go to Gorham to get a car repaired . It still has its temporary plates. With almost 16,000 miles on it. I bought it on February 10th, 20 22, it is now the 21st of Feb.. They're making good on everything Jake Drouin , my salesman, arranged to have valet service. It's's under warranty, they have to do the work. I had wanted to take it to my own mechanic. But this is actually even better. They are scheduled pick up the van, do the work and drop it back off, in the same day. This coming Thursday it's happening. I am a happy customer, and really, at this point, highly recommend Berlin City Auto. Of course, I will keep you posted, with what I predict , will be a wonderful outcome. read more

I bought my third car from Berlin City February 2020. I shopped carefully for a low millage car and found the perfect fit for me. I was told by the young salesman (Giovanni) that the second key will be sent to me as soon as the previous owner returns it. I have called twice to the salesman as well as the sales manager with a message stating my request for the promised second key with no return phone call from either person. This is how Berlin City takes care of their returned customer. I will not be buying another car from them ever again and I have been deterring everyone I know from doing any business with Berlin City. read more

My wife and I bought a car from them recently and our sales person was very good. However, they had a new computer system and it significantly delayed our paperwork, our warranty, and added a lot of unnecessary stress as we had almost a month of back and forth just to get our basic paperwork processed. In the midst of this, we had a car service issue which seemed basic (reinstalling a weather guard on the underside that fell off) but they didn't have the replacement parts on hand, told us they would call us when the parts arrived (we ultimately had to call them to follow up), and we had to make two additional trips to get the part installed. Ultimately they did show good "service recovery" but only after we persistently followed up. I think they have a lot of potential, their sales force seems great. read more

I leased a new, Honda CRV from Berlin Auto in 2013. Recently, my CRV's battery has been sluggish and, on two occasions, I had to actually have it jumped. I had it tested at a local garage and it said that at best it was operating at 25-40% capacity. Basically, it was a defective battery. I called Berlin from the auto dealer on Friday, 02/06, to speak with someone about whether this is covered under the warranty as I live in St Johnsbury, VT and did not want to drive out without knowing. The receptionist transferred me to Laura (possibly, Lori) extension and it went straight to voicemail. I left her a detailed message, my number (repeated twice) and asked that she call me back. After six days without a call back, I emailed the GM Ed and the rep who sold me the call, Joshua. I relayed this to them and now, seven days without a response from either of them, I am posting my comment to YELP. It appears once you drive off the lot, service ends. Disappointing. read more

My daughter and I had been driving along the highway to go home to southern New Jersey from Maine when my car began to make a strange noise and I knew that I needed to give it some oil. When I stopped to put the oil in, I could not get the hood open. I looked up to find the Berlin City Auto Group across the street from where I was and drove to their location to ask for help in opening the hood of my car. Jay and John sprang to action; Jay gave me a cold water bottle (it was an exceptionally hot day) and John retrieved a tool with which he opened the hood and even helped me to put in my oil so that I could get home. Just purchased a used Toyota there and I could not be more pleased. Well maybe if they gave it to me LOL. I contacted Melanie Larcombe on-line and when I was ready, went in to maybe buy a car. She was the best sales person I have ever worked with. Straight, non-pushy, truly wanted to find the right match between me and a car. Intended on buying a new car but it turned out that a late model used one fit my needs and that was OK with Melanie. She worked with me to bring the price down just a bit and we had a deal. Greg, on the "money" side was gracious when I told him that I was not interested in any "add-ons" and we cut to the chase and I drove my new to me used car away. A very, surprisingly" pleasant experience. As you can see from my rating, I think that Melanie and Greg are the best. This reflects nicely upon the dealership.
