He takes his time to explain to you when he puts the cast on and/or cut the cast off of you. He is super friendly, always with a smile. I saw one of their neurologists today to help figure out why my eyes keep blurring out and having shadowed double vision. If you need a doctor like this be prepared to wait for the appointment. Fiften years ago there were only maybe a dozen to twenty eye neurologists in the USA. There are more now but not that many... so the fact that we have three on staff here is incredibly fortunate. The fact that the two I have had care for my vision are empathetic as well as thoroughly skilled is just beyond amazing luck. On the day of your appt charge your phone or bring something to occupy yourself. There can be a lot of waiting... this is normal! Why??? Their patients all have complex issues and the doctors will take as much time to thoroughly try to solve each one. One by one.... That can back up the flow. Just realize when its you in that room... they will give you 100% of their attention. They will come in fully prepared (meaning they have read your chart thoroughly prior to seeing you) and will ask you as many questions to get to the root of the problem and you will leave with an action plan and answers. Not only do I suffer daily pain with movement; I often awaken at night when I roll over on my shoulder. Then, of course because I'm awake, it's very difficult to get back to sleep. My wife has seen Dr. McGowan for shoulder pain she experienced for some time now and was sent to PT to see if that would help alleviate some of her pain. It was she who suggested that I see Dr. McGowan at the Lewis Center Medical Offices about my shoulder (sooner rather than later.) With my wife's prompting, and my increasing pain, despite my typical stubbornness I finally relented to see her about my shoulder. Surprisingly, when I called for an appointment, they were able to get me in very quickly; in just a matter of a couple of days. My wife had told me that Dr. McGowan takes a very proactive approach with her patients. At my appointment with her, I found this to be very true. She had x-rays taken of my shoulder while in her office, and gave a complete examination of my shoulder and arm. Without jumping to conclusions, she thought I might have injured my rotator cuff, but wanted more extensive testing done. So, she arranged an MRI of my shoulder. I was approved and Dr. McGowan had me scheduled for this imagining procedure to be performed within a week. The MRI was conducted at St. Ann's Hospital and the day after this procedure, her office called and wanted to make a followup appointment with Dr. McGowan. Again, quickly scheduled for the following week. Dr. Jacqueline Renee McGowan is a proactive doctor who gets things done in her practice, rather than waiting for them to happen or you worsen. All of the reception staff are friendly, helpful and willing to show you how to expedite your check in when using one of their tablets. Shayna, her tech is personable and will take you back to an office to go over medicines you are currently taking, and family history. The X-ray specialist in this office did everything she could to help ease my discomfort and pain during preliminary testing when I couldn't easily move my arm and shoulder in the positions needed for accurate pictures. If you are in need of a top-notch, professional, knowledgeable, yet personable, and caring Orthopedic Specialist, Dr. Jaqueline McGowan's practice in the Lewis Center area is where you should go.
