I called them about a week later to reschedule him. My husband took him for his appointment and he text me and said / did anyone tell u they were charging u a no show fee? I said no and I would call. I told her who I was and my dog and husband were there. I explained what my husband told me & she told me I did not cancel my appointment. I told her that I did and I also paid the upfront charge of $50 to just make the appointment with them because we were new to the practice. She yelled we charge that because people just don't show up. I told her I don't do that. She asked me who I talked to. I said I didn't know because I didn't ask who it was. And I told her I had left a msg to cancel the other appointment. She then argued with me about all this & I said. U know what. Just send them home. U don't need to see my dog. When my husband came home he told me she came in the room and slammed the door open and said they are leaving. He said the vet kept talking and she kept trying to make him stop talking. My husband just said I'm leaving. I did hear bad things about them in the past from people that had been there. But I thought I would try. Very unprofessional. I don't know why anyone would go there. They could improve the office staff & procedures

I came out with a loopy cat doing somersaults when I got her home and about 30 min later she was dead! I lost one of the very best things in my world because of this clinic. After composing myself and calling them to properly inform them of the situation, I also demanded a refund for the killing of my kid. They were compassionate, but un wielding with results. I point blank told them, you killed my kid and I'm not paying for that! I was later told that they did nothing wrong and will not refund me. I hung up and instantly called my CC company to dispute the charge! It's all horrible, death is beyond words when you have love for the lost ones. But 'not' owning a mistake when the evidence is clear is equally horrible. This "company" Homepage | Oley Valley Animal Clinic is highly suspect. After years of dealing with them and multiple pets/babies, I have seen a very clear pattern. I was here in the Oley Valley long before them, I watched that building being built. From my dogs to my cats I took them all to the Oley Valley Animal Clinic. In the last 12 years I would say the place changed a lot! Not real vets anymore, just middle men/women sending you to the ones that can actually do the job necessary for your pet/friend/kid. But this last example as I break behind keyboard. This needs special attention! When I walked in to the patient room I took Carmin out of the box and set her on the table, that weighing scale table. Seconds later I was greeted with an intern that point blank asked me: "are we going to do any blood work today?" I'm dumbfounded holding my kid on the weighing table. Just WFT did you just ask and why? It was crystal clear to me right then and there. All smoke and mirrors here. But then the "vet" came in and began to examine my kid. Credit due where it's warranted, she sat on the floor to examine my baby even though regurgitating old news. She recommended a pain killer and a steroid. Now what could go wrong with that? It did, go wrong! My kid was seeing things, as if we have a ghost here and there but my kid was seeing it/them. She was very afraid of a certain corner, kept looking at it like someone was standing there and it was a stranger. I didn't know she was so close to the end, I was working elsewhere in the house when my baby came running in and just layed down at me feet and died. So did my world at that moment! I'm not good yet, but I cannot wait a year to tell you to stay the hell away from the middleman Oley Valley Clinic! If they get it right they way over charge, when they get it wrong the price is death!

Although I rarely had the same vet twice my three boys generally seemed to receive good care. (Note: The veterinary doctor turnover here is regular.) Things changed recently. The owner of the business was the attending vet when my pup needed care. My current golden is the gentlest friendliest dog on the planet. Due to virus circumstances, I had to drop him off rather than take him in. Three different vets prescribed hundreds of dollars in meds over the better part of a month. A special dog food was also prescribed. The limitations of the virus were significant but I paid what they asked. The canned food prescribed gave him diarrhea on top of the symptoms for which I took him in. I was concerned that we kept throwing expensive drugs and food at the problem with no success. When I called for information, the vet was often not in. He would respond via his cell. His caller i.d. was disabled so when my cell rang with an incoming call from "unknown" the first time, I didn't answer. When we finally talked, he had no notes and relied on me to tell him what we had done so far. As I attempted to fill him in, he would cut me off, rarely letting me finish a sentence. I took my pup in for a battery of tests. They kept him for an afternoon. When he got home he had a hairless patch just under his left eye that he didn't have before he went in. I was concerned. I called about it. They had just closed so I left a message with the answering service. Another vet returned my call. I was told no one knew anything about it. They said he must have rubbed the hair off on the cage in which he was confined. I voiced my concern. Dr. Sam eventually felt an endoscopy was required. They wanted to keep him for a day again. Due to the virus, the office was communicating in various ways. I emailed to ask they please take good care of him. Dr. Sam called to tell me he thought I was being "irritable" with his staff. HE was irritable and had an angry tone. I was never once voiced my concern in an unprofessional way. I told him I was shocked by this. He finally admitted that I had always been respectful and professional dealing with him. The day of the procedure, I emailed again to request they keep an eye on my little buddy. Dr. Sam called me and once again, in a very agitated voice told me "come get your dog." He was not going to do the endoscopy. He added angrily there would be no charge. No charge? Since they didn't do anything, I considered this to be an acerbic remark. One never knows what is going on in someone's life. Everyone is stressed during these times. Maybe this doctor is undergoing some extreme stress. That is NO excuse for this level of unprofessionalism. Given the circumstances, I feel the need to let others know what happened to us. We found another vet with less stress.

Dr. dePlanque has cared for all my cats, rescued, and fostered since then. It's a small practice, as opposed to a multi Vet conglomerate, and I very much prefer taking my cats where we see the same Veterinarian at every visit. Over the years, he and his staff have always been professional, helpful, compassionate, and knowledgeable. Having no medical background of my own, I always ask a lot of questions; it's just my nature, and Dr. dePlanque has always taken the time to give me answers I can understand. I have never been disappointed in the care my cats received. Only because prices are so reasonable, could I afford to rescue, foster, and find good homes for so many cats and kittens over the years. They do not need marble columns, cathedral ceilings, and skylights. They simply need good care, and they get it. Year after year after year. I consider myself fortunate to have found the Dog and Cat Clinic and Dr. dePlanque. He and his staff are my cats' best friends, and I'm a forever client.
