After two overly aggressive cleanings my last 2 appointments, I cannot recommend Dr. Truta. If you have any dental complications (bridges in my case), stay away. She and her assistant are unnecessarily aggressive. In spite of having great hygiene (I get frequent cleanings as well), I found the appointment itself painful and my gums were tender for 3 days following. I've NEVER had this experience with my cleanings elsewhere. What's worse, both overly aggressive cleanings degraded the gum tissue supporting the posts my bridges are anchored on. I now have to live with the damage from their carelessness for the rest of my life. read more

Dr Truta and staff are excellent. Dr Truta treated some problem areas, which her predecessor took multiple swings at. She fixed them on the first try. The hygienists are amazing, especially Cynthia. I have been going to the Berkeley Smile Studio and Dr. Truta since before it was the BSS and Dr. Truta took over the practice from Dr. Lenzi. So about 30 years. (Dr. Truta has had the practice for, I'm guessing, 10 years now). Growing up, I had had some unfortunate experiences with dentists who were less than attentive to one's pain. From that, I developed a serious phobia about going to the dentist, though I always had forced myself anyway, because I know what the consequences can be of neglecting one's dental care. I have had dental care by Dr. Truta three times a year for10 years and I only appreciate her more each visit. Recently when she replaced an old crown, she injected the numbing agent painlessly and used just the right amount. An hour later I was having a sandwich with a friend! I had absolutely no soreness and even forgot the temporary was in place for the week or two it took to seat the new one. I had a second full crown done last week and had the same easy experience. She is the most graceful and gentle dentist I've ever had and I have known numerous ones over the decades. The crowns fit perfectly and have accurate color. One time in adjusting my bleaching trays made by another dentist, she personally trimmed them with tiny scissors, making them more efficient and comfortable and she gifted me a package of bleach! I just recently returned to see Dr. Truta for a filling. Before the procedure she used a camera to take a zoomed in picture of the affected tooth which definitely needed to be fixed. Amazingly, I did not need any anesthetic and had no pain or discomfort whatsoever. It was a breeze! I'm very impressed that she perfectly matched the color of the filling with my tooth. Even zoomed in with the after photo, you absolutely can not even tell. I did not expect it to be so well hidden in plain sight. I was her last patient for the day and she was closing up shop. Dr. Daniela Truta is a wonderful dentist. I've been a patient for a few years now. She is kind and patient and truly listens to her patients' needs. She does tooth colored fillings, uses a special camera to show pictures of what's actually going on and discuss options, does digital xrays when necessary... just great! The entire staff is genuinely nice, and it's a pleasure to need to visit the office. A great place for anyone who's even slightly scared of the dentist or hasn't been in a long time: judgment free zone, and very understanding!
