This company is a scam! The owner hires scam-artists /drug addicts and thugs. I hired him to do two jobs. The first , seemed like it was done, but it turned out to be essentially a temporary fix and 2 weeks later the problem is worse--but he has not returned. Even after promising to return several times--I waited, he never showed--every time with a bullshit excuse. The second job was handled by his subcontractor who took money for a "new" compressor which it turns out is almost 30 years old!--and needless to say doesn't work! ! Once cash was given to his employee to purchase freon, parts etc. his employee disappeared--never finished the work--never answered the over 30 phone calls I have made--never came back again!!!!!- When I was finally able to get a hold of the employee it was only by calling from a different phone! The employee sounded like he was literally on heroin or pain pills at the time--was luring speech and not making sense while I was talking to him--I instantly figured out where the money went!!! This company is a fraud! $2500 later--heating and cooling system is broken (probably made worse from them touching it) and an ice machine is laying in pieces with a 30 year old "new" replacement compressor--also not working. I have used Berkley Heating for the past few years have had the worst experience with them, I would never recommend them. In order to do business with them you have to call several times, text or email and if you call maybe you will get a voice message or a response mailbox is full Todd the owner when he does finally call you will apologize because he is so busy or forgot. He will eventually come and do the job but its almost like begging him to work. I did have him put in a furnace at my parents house who are not well and are 86&88 who had a working furnace but is was old so to avoid any issues we had a new furnace put in fall 2013 for about 3000.00 plus. Day after furnace was put in at my parents it did not work and called Todd the owner all day to help my parents who had no heat. When Todd was reached he said he would go over but that was several house later. My parents continued to have problems for a few months and even had a gas leak where the furnace was red tagged and Berkeley had to come back once again and do the correct hook up,my poor parents. I had a noise with my air conditioner that I told Todd about and he said he would come over and look at it, once again after several call's and Todd saying he was so sorry he did come by and look at it. Noise still there. You would think I would have learned my lesion but I gave Berkeley Heating another shot and called and emailed several times to set up an appointment for my 2014 furnace cleaning. I did pin Todd down to a date and time to service my furnace and the same day my hot water tank went . I asked Todd if it was something he could replace or I would have called someone else, he said yes no problem. When they arrived, Todd and a co worker checked everything out and said they had to go get a hot water tank and be back in about an hour and turned my water off which was understandable. After two hours no Todd, I sent a text and was told they would be back shortly, they seem to have an issue with time also. After working in my basement Todd was doing something with my sub pump which backed up and needless to say I had quite a mess in my basement and in my storage area where items where damaged. Prior to the mess I had asked Todd if he wanted me to move anything out of the way and he said no. I had a mess everywhere Todd goes in his truck and is on his phone while I am left in my basement cleaning the mess, I go out to his truck to go get him and I am angry and voice my anger and he starts yelling at me???? His co worker continued to replace my hot water tank and jokes around over the issue when he realizes I don't find him funny he goes on to share his and Todd personal problems which had no place in my home and then to tell me Todd always screws up. I spent several hours cleaning my basement and was dirtier then Todd and his co worker who is no longer drinking or doing drugs so he shares with me. Neither one of them seem to understand why I was so frustrated or upset and it cost me 650.00...............Needless to say I will never use or recommend Berkley Heating Cooling to anyone. Todd promised my father he would follow up after a year with the new furnace to make sure all was working ok. Since he had installed the furnace in 2013 and was paid over 3000.00 we felt he should. Well after again several calls and emails he sends a worker over to my dads last Friday 11/21/14 to check the furnace, the guy was in and out in ten to 15min. and my parents then had no heat for 5hours,.the guy from Berkley Heating turned some switch off in his rush. My poor 88 year old dad who is in poor health works his way to the basement which is dangerous for him to go down the stairs and fiddles around, by the grace of god finds the switch and turns it on. God Bless my dad! I called Todd today to share with him what happened at my dads on Friday and he starts yelling at me and getting angry with me for being upset. I did not understand why Todd was upset with me unless he was so disgusted with himself he took it out on me , he even hung up on me. Todd the owner has some type of a behavior issue, not sure he can be trusted not to mention his poor workmanship. read more
