History
Established in 2015.
My dream for a place like this started in my Minnesota high school but became vivid during the time I spent in Regio-Calabria, Italy. Their concept of agro-tourism is to combine lodging with products produced on their farm. The farms I visited produced pork products, wine, cheese, bread and, in the case of the bergamot orchards, many health and beauty byproducts.
I believe the elderberry rivals the bergamot tree so now I am searching for recipes, artisans and equipment to process the more than one acre of elderberry I am planting this year.
My vision is eventually to operate a self sustaining farm and producing the food for family and profit. I have no plans for clothing at this time.
Meet the Business Owner: Richard S.
I grew up in a farming community in Minnesota and spent the summers with relatives on the farm. My parents moved to the farm as I entered high school when my brother and i became neophyte responsible farmers. I loved the life and dreamed of becoming a farmer for fun and profit. In fact, my first essay in freshman English at Winona State described my dream and this is it!!
I am abundantly blessed.
During my career as a health care executive I operated hospitals and was an owner/director of Managed care organizations and worked with other provider organizations.
I have a BA degree from Winona (Minnesota) College (now University) and an MBA from George Washington University.
