I'm the one who doesn't want to sit around in a room but it's so cozy and relaxing here that I don't ever want to leave. My husband and I have traveled to Europe, been on cruises, and been all around the US. The food we receive at Amber House is better than anything we have had anywhere else in our travels. We brag to everyone and tell people they have to stay here! We enjoy speaking with the owners and hearing all their stories. The highlight of this trip (314/3-15, 2021) was the farewell committee headed by their youngest son who is just as friendly and caring as his parents. We can't wait to go back to Amber House. We know we will never be disappointed!!

They didn't mind that my family stayed after breakfast hours to sit around and talk! It's located near all the stores and restaurants too. The inn is beautiful with four Victorian rooms to choose from and another three French inspired rooms a few doors down. Hermann Hill was good, but not great. I can see why this is a spot where couples come to connect…read more We stayed in the rooms that were attached to check in so my ranking only based on that room and facility. Check in was easy and the view on the hill would be nice if not rainy and can't imagine what a great sunny day would be like (probably very pretty!). They do have a 3 mile walking trail but if you try it you need to grab the map first or you'll think you're heading to a private road. We turned back without a map thinking we went the wrong way - rookie mistake but wish we would have been told to grab a map prior to heading out. Or be handed one as newbies... The owner I believe lives in the facility as well, and it was Easter weekend. He was talkative first night upon check in and did stop by outside to chat. The waterfall was not working and he said maybe he'd get it working by the time we left. Not a big deal, but never did turn on. It was odd that his family lived there or was visiting for Easter so we did feel a little like intruders over the weekend. Room: was freezing cold, and first night the heat was not working well. We did have a fireplace in the room but the unit to use for heat was not working no matter what we tried even with staff assistance. The bathroom was freezing and we had to use a space heater to try to warm it. We did complain the second night and nothing was fixed as owner was having Easter dinner upstairs with his family. Hot Tub: clean, small and perfect for 2 people. Made the trip. Didn't use the small table fire pit. They don't tell you that they drop off deserts at night and the next morning we woke up with melted ice cream outside the room. Communication breakdown. Coffee was folders, nothing great but did have a selection of offerings for breakfast time. Staff workers were amazing - kind and super friendly given that it was Easter weekend. You can tell they do try to give you the best experience. The staff hired here were amazing and friendly. Games are available for the rainy days. TV has most steaming services, rooms a tad older look. Somethings not functioning - like the sound machine, TV being finicky, and heat in room. We probably will not choose this room. Would rather stay at the rooms that are on the river and try that route next time!

The room came with a private bath. The owner met us on arrival and got us checked in. We got a little history on the place. We got some ideas about where we could get some supper. Later we wandered down to the river and enjoyed seeing it at night. Back at the B&B I heated some water and had some lovely caffeine free raspberry tea. The owner apologized that really the only TV was Roku... But we never used it because we came to get away from all that and just chill. Well the Wi-Fi worked fine. (We weren't wanting totally cut off from the world.). This building qualifies as very historic. The air conditioning worked perfect. The drive here was scenic and fun along the rolling and curving road. The price was very reasonable. The decor is well matched to the building. The atmosphere is cosy. The rooms are huge. I've had apartments that were smaller. The table and chairs and couch were nice. There was an in room pot to heat water for coffee or tea. Breakfast at 830 was fruit with yogurt and granola, a very nice/tasty quiche, juice, and cinnamon bread. While the location is not far from some wineries and other activities, it is also slightly remote. If you don't mind being in a quiet small town and can spend time talking or reading... This might be the place for you. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I can't say for sure if we'll ever get back, or when that might possibly be... But I can say... We certainly would love the chance to spend some more time here. Staying here Friday night was exactly the experience we were needing and hoping for.

Beach front, the pool area is beautiful, and the staff here is compiled with some of the nicest people I have ever met in my lifetime. It's spotless and the wifi though not the best is enough to get by. You don't really need wifi on vacation anyway. You need to be out enjoying the beautiful area. There is a little grocery story down the block and like a 7/11 type store right across the road. The neighbors are all friendly and everyone was delightful. There are always a bunch of taxi drivers zooming down the road so it shouldn't be hard to get a ride somewhere. What I liked was that it isn't in the hotel zone. But not super far away. We were close enough to get to everything we wanted to do with a short taxi ride away but still far enough that we didn't have to see all the hoodlums that came out for memorial day weekend. We got a chance to relax and really enjoy Mexico without the crowds. I love this place and can't wait to return.
