The owners were extremely nice and live next door - they show you everything, tell you to make yourselves at home, and leave you to your privacy. Price was very reasonable. My only concern is that it was a little too far to walk from downtown. Turned out to be a non-issue. The trolley will pick up and drop off right at the hotel. They have a cancellation fee on Hotels.com they waited until the free cancellation window expired before calling me. Thereby, costing me money either way I went. They would not honor the Hotels.com price and the male kept yelling in the background at me during the call. Their excuse was that THEY had not updated things before taking a January vacation. So their mistake costs me money. Also very rude. Will never consider doing business with them again.

The pictures on their website and on Trip Advisor were great and we could tell that we were going to be staying at a really cool place. Boy were we surprised upon arrival. The pictures do not do this place justice as the property is stunning and the house is spectacular. We stayed in the Patio Suite, but upon arrival, we were greeted by Gary, one of the owners, and he offered to show us the main level that has three full bedrooms and bathrooms, living room, gourmet kitchen, dining room and a full deck that has an amazing view of the Missouri River and farmland below as the house sits atop one of the highest points on 4th street. One of the bedroom suites even has a wheelchair accessible bathroom. Marsha and Gary have done such an amazing job decorating the house. The Patio Suite was like having a full size apartment to ourselves. When you enter, the bathroom is straight ahead. It offers a walk in shower and has a hot tub sized jacuzzi tub. This was such a nice feature to have at the end of the day after having a relaxing and fun day visiting the local wineries. To your left, there was a full living area with a couch, two chairs and an electric fire place. There was also a desk area as well. Off of that, was the bedroom area that had curtains you could pull for added privacy, in case you were sharing the suite for your stay. There was a kitchen area that had beautiful cabinets, a sink, mini fridge, microwave, toaster oven and many other conveniences. Marsha and Gary have beautifully decorated this suite with what appears to be items they have collected from their travels over the years. There is also a bookcase with many wonderful books and they also have a Bose CD player and many CDs to listen to while relaxing. As the name mentions, you have a covered patio off your suite with a beautiful view of the river and a grill as well. While there you are welcome to explore their gardens and also enjoy the fire pit that is located at the edge of the property overlooking the river. We will stay at Spirit Hill every time that we come back to Hermann as this was a fantastic place to stay and it is owned by fantastic people. We will recommend this to any friends or family making a trip to Hermann.

So we were excited to book the Bloom House to have a little get away just the two of us. We are so happy with our choice with the Bloom House. The house is away from the beaten path of the hustle and bustle of downtown, but close enough to take the trolley to all the many wineries. It has all the amenities that a traditional hotel/bed and breakfast (minus the breakfast) plus more. They offer a full size refrigerator, stove, and dining area to sit and enjoy any meal we would like to prepare ourselves. You can even eat your meal or enjoy a cup of coffee outdoors in the morning. There are toiletries, bath towels, linens, and all the extras plus a full size kitchen. No need to bring anything from home because the Bloom House has it all for you. They even have a picnic basket and/or for you to take with you to the wineries. They offer a King size bed and another spare bedroom for another couple, if you are looking to enjoy the taste of Hermann with family, friends, or additional guest. Great customer service with booking and follow through with our stay. Such a cozy little home.

The outside area by the rock walls was very pretty and the entire setting was nice. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. This is especially true since we were a large party. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to the rest of the place. I ordered stuffed pork loin. The food was delivered fast. Probably too fast. I don't know how they could have prepared fresh food for so many in such short time. To me that indicates a lot of microwave use, but I could be wrong. My dinner came with a few thin slices of pork loin, green beans, garlic mashed potatoes with gravy and a biscuit. No salad. The portion size was ample. It was enough to fill me up, but no so much that I had to take home leftovers. I found the pork to be very dry and tasteless. The mashed potatoes were unremarkable and had very little garlic flavor. The biscuit was nothing to brag about. The one bright spot was the green beans. Some people thought they were overcooked, but I enjoyed them. My wife order Tilapia. They were very accommodating and let her substitute garlic mashed potatoes for the rice. She agrees with my comments on the beans and potatoes. She describes the tilapia as limp, slightly watery (although supposedly baked), barely warm, had a nice spice to it, but the fish had a rather fishy taste. Tilapia is supposed to be mild. It gave her the impression of being prepared earlier and had been sitting on a steam table for awhile. Definitely not cooked in the short period between our order and the time it was served. The other reviewers really liked the food. Maybe we went on the cooks night off, or maybe because we had a large group, they prepared a lot of food in advance. I may give it a try sometime when I'm in the area without being with a large group and then maybe I will have the experience of the other reviewers.

Jim gives a very detailed tour of the house and provides a detailed map with restaurant, winery/distillery, and shop recommendations.
