The owners/proprietors are very easy to talk to and they're very accommodating. The dining room table is huge and it makes for easy family-style dining with your fellow guests. There's a really great outdoor seating area where you can barbecue, too. I'm not sure if it's an option for people that don't know each other to rent different rooms here, but I would definitely suggest renting the whole house if you're staying...the layout would make it difficult to maintain privacy otherwise. I have some rather tall people in my family so the size of the en-suite showers was a bit challenging for them. There is central air downstairs but the upstairs rooms are cooled by very, very effective window units. Lastly, the owner informed us that we needed to be careful about having the window units plugged in at the same time as things like blow-dryers. Still, this house was built in the 1800s and it's a delightful place to stay. I recommend it!

My only concern is that it was a little too far to walk from downtown. Turned out to be a non-issue. The trolley will pick up and drop off right at the hotel. The pictures on their website and on Trip Advisor were great and we could tell that we were going to be staying at a really cool place. Boy were we surprised upon arrival. The pictures do not do this place justice as the property is stunning and the house is spectacular. We stayed in the Patio Suite, but upon arrival, we were greeted by Gary, one of the owners, and he offered to show us the main level that has three full bedrooms and bathrooms, living room, gourmet kitchen, dining room and a full deck that has an amazing view of the Missouri River and farmland below as the house sits atop one of the highest points on 4th street. One of the bedroom suites even has a wheelchair accessible bathroom. Marsha and Gary have done such an amazing job decorating the house. The Patio Suite was like having a full size apartment to ourselves. When you enter, the bathroom is straight ahead. It offers a walk in shower and has a hot tub sized jacuzzi tub. This was such a nice feature to have at the end of the day after having a relaxing and fun day visiting the local wineries. To your left, there was a full living area with a couch, two chairs and an electric fire place. There was also a desk area as well. Off of that, was the bedroom area that had curtains you could pull for added privacy, in case you were sharing the suite for your stay. There was a kitchen area that had beautiful cabinets, a sink, mini fridge, microwave, toaster oven and many other conveniences. Marsha and Gary have beautifully decorated this suite with what appears to be items they have collected from their travels over the years. There is also a bookcase with many wonderful books and they also have a Bose CD player and many CDs to listen to while relaxing. As the name mentions, you have a covered patio off your suite with a beautiful view of the river and a grill as well. While there you are welcome to explore their gardens and also enjoy the fire pit that is located at the edge of the property overlooking the river. We will stay at Spirit Hill every time that we come back to Hermann as this was a fantastic place to stay and it is owned by fantastic people. We will recommend this to any friends or family making a trip to Hermann.

So we were excited to book the Bloom House to have a little get away just the two of us. We are so happy with our choice with the Bloom House. The house is away from the beaten path of the hustle and bustle of downtown, but close enough to take the trolley to all the many wineries. It has all the amenities that a traditional hotel/bed and breakfast (minus the breakfast) plus more. They offer a full size refrigerator, stove, and dining area to sit and enjoy any meal we would like to prepare ourselves. You can even eat your meal or enjoy a cup of coffee outdoors in the morning. There are toiletries, bath towels, linens, and all the extras plus a full size kitchen. No need to bring anything from home because the Bloom House has it all for you. They even have a picnic basket and/or for you to take with you to the wineries. They offer a King size bed and another spare bedroom for another couple, if you are looking to enjoy the taste of Hermann with family, friends, or additional guest. Great customer service with booking and follow through with our stay. Such a cozy little home.

Check in was easy and the view on the hill would be nice if not rainy and can't imagine what a great sunny day would be like (probably very pretty!). They do have a 3 mile walking trail but if you try it you need to grab the map first or you'll think you're heading to a private road. We turned back without a map thinking we went the wrong way - rookie mistake but wish we would have been told to grab a map prior to heading out. Or be handed one as newbies... The owner I believe lives in the facility as well, and it was Easter weekend. He was talkative first night upon check in and did stop by outside to chat. The waterfall was not working and he said maybe he'd get it working by the time we left. Not a big deal, but never did turn on. It was odd that his family lived there or was visiting for Easter so we did feel a little like intruders over the weekend. Room: was freezing cold, and first night the heat was not working well. We did have a fireplace in the room but the unit to use for heat was not working no matter what we tried even with staff assistance. The bathroom was freezing and we had to use a space heater to try to warm it. We did complain the second night and nothing was fixed as owner was having Easter dinner upstairs with his family. Hot Tub: clean, small and perfect for 2 people. Made the trip. Didn't use the small table fire pit. They don't tell you that they drop off deserts at night and the next morning we woke up with melted ice cream outside the room. Communication breakdown. Coffee was folders, nothing great but did have a selection of offerings for breakfast time. Staff workers were amazing - kind and super friendly given that it was Easter weekend. You can tell they do try to give you the best experience. The staff hired here were amazing and friendly. Games are available for the rainy days. TV has most steaming services, rooms a tad older look. Somethings not functioning - like the sound machine, TV being finicky, and heat in room. We probably will not choose this room. Would rather stay at the rooms that are on the river and try that route next time!
