While I was waiting for my dad to…read moreshow up with my ticket I decided to give these guys a shot as a change from the usual pocket dog I get during a game. From the selection I chose the "Hot Mess". Something with a little heat was just what I was looking for. The sandwich was very delicious. It could have been a little more spicy, but the flavours were great either way. What I didn't like here was the wait. Upon ordering I was told it would be about 7 minutes. While I like the fact that they're making everything fresh, when I'm at a food truck expect my meal to be served up quickly.

My bf and I escaped from our offices at lunch today to walk to Central Memorial Park, partly…read morebecause it was the first sunny day in weeks, and partly because twitter told me there would be a congregation of food trucks setting up around 11:30. I love cheese, so naturally, I was eager to check out this new food truck. We're not big fans of waiting in lines, so we arrived right at 11:30 and were served immediately. I ordered the mac'n'cheese sandwich with pulled pork and bf ordered the hot mess. The total came to $18 (no drinks or sides). Both sandwiches were amazing. The mac'n'cheese was creamy, the pulled pork was smoky, and the bread was a bit sweet. And of course there was some yummy cheese inside to hold it all together. The hot mess was just spicy enough. I would guess that extreme spice combined with cheese might not be that great. There was yummy seasoned ground beef, banana peppers, and a fried egg inside too. Fried to perfection - not so runny that you lose some yolk, but runny enough to drip onto the rest of the sandwich. If the sandwiches were $5 instead of $9, I would be 20 lbs heavier and looking for an apartment next to Cheezy Bizness HQ. It's probably a good thing the cost puts them in the "treat yo' self" category rather than an every day lunch category.

Lil' Truck on the Prairie is everything. I cannot adequately express how enamoured I am with them…read morebut I'll try. We hired Lil' Truck to cater our wedding and they're food was the one thing that kept us from eloping during our wedding planning experience. They hand crafted a menu to suit us specifically and it was the number one thing we bragged about to friends before the event and after. They were able to meet every single dietary restriction but not only that, they did it well. The vegan/vegetarian options were arguably the best on the menu which is rare and hard to accomplish especially when it comes to a big event (and it wasn't pasta!). When I say that I also want to highlight how good their meat mains were too. All the carnivores where just as satisfied as the vegans, which is no small feat. They thought of absolutely everything when planning our wedding and made us feel more like friends than clients. I also appreciated their focus on local and sustainable food sources but while also taking into consideration our (meagre) budget. They made all our food dreams come true. They served our 175 guests cocktail hour, dinner, dessert, AND midnight snack for less per person than an average prime rib dinner. While making each aspect of the event accessable and enjoyable to absolutely all dietary choices, minimizing waste, and focusing on local and sustainable food sources. What more could you possibly ask for?

It's a casual Filipino spot where you order at the counter, but the food doesn't have the mass-production/fast food taste or quality at all. We got the veggie lumpia, chicken inasal (spicy), and the beef caldereta to share. The veggie lumpia was solid with a shatteringly crisp wrapper and a refreshing vinegar based dipping sauce. The chicken inasal was delicious--perfect char from the grill while still being very juicy. The egg drop soup it came with was salty and savory in the best ways. And the beef caldereta was hearty and warm, tender chunks of beef coated in a rich tomato coconut sauce. The staff also came by to check on us throughout the meal, which I thought was very thoughtful as well. All that came out to less than $50 including tax and tip. Definitely will be stopping by again when I'm in the area.

The chicken was cooked well with lots of spice and flavour. You also get your choice of two sides, I had fried plantains and rice and peas. Both sides were very good. The rice and peas are cooked in coconut milk, so they are rich with a mild flavour that is a good juxtaposition for the spicy chicken. The portion size is also very generous, unlike some other food trucks.

They were very generous on the fish. Only thing I didn't like was the rice as a bit hard. I wish it was more soft and warm. But overall, I loved it. Good big generous portion for the price I paid. Too bad the restaurant is not in downtown. It is a bit of a walk from my place (downtown). Definitely can't come here during lunch time. Highly recommend giving this place a try.

But that being said, there are some things they could definitely improve on. We have ordered the salmon, poke special, spicy poke burrito, and their poke hotdogs. Their bowls are great, very loaded and the flavour profile is great. The poke burrito was a mess and wouldn't order again. The hotdogs were prepared horribly, all the times we ordered it, so safe to say that we won't order those anymore as well. Also, the last time we ordered the poke special dog, it was very blah and almost cold. I would say that we would probably come back just for the bowls, if we are in the area, but in my opinion the 17th avenue is a far better location. Also, everytime I enter this store, it smells of something of chlorine, which their other stores don't smell like. So can't truly recommend this location, but if you are in a pickle and crave poke it's not too bad.
