My go-to spot suddenly closed, leaving me in a bit of a lurch! Where do I go?! We all have our favorite Chinese restaurant, and when we can't go to that one there's a little bit of a conundrum. I take American Chinese food seriously - which really means I order the same thing 98% of the time because that's my GO TO meal. As an intellectual, that is of course General Tso's chicken. Beijing Tokyo blends north and south Asia into a rather cozy, strip mall location. One person was talking obliviously on her cell phone, while the sushi Chef took orders. Until Yelp asked me if this place was romantic, I hadn't actually thought about it that way. But it is a little romantic. The tables are close together, the light is low, even if this place was full it would be... Cozy. A Chinese restaurant that's cozy is a very short leap to romantic. You can have a conversation here. I ordered my usual and waited about 10 minutes. The GTC was excellent. It had spice and flavor, but not too spicy. The fried rice was delicious. Good portion size and a good price. Two egg rolls and the total came to $25.25. No surprises, nothing out of the ordinary. If you had told me this had come from my favorite- now sadly closed - Chinese restaurant, I would have never known the difference. And there in lies what I think makes a good Chinese restaurant: predictability. American Chinese food is a distinct cuisine with the same menus, the same waving Buddah and melamine plates. The difference is quality, and the taste of your favorite meal. I am sad that my favorite place closed, but Beijing Tokyo is my new Chinese food restaurant, and I think it's pretty darn good.

She knows the regulars by name and makes all her guests feel special. Our server, Tristin, was polite and efficient. She checked on us regularly and kept our beverages filled. Somehow we managed to hit the end of Happy Hour (which goes until 6:30). The Happy Hour menu offers special pricing on apps and contain rolls. We ordered Seaweed Salad, Golden Triangle, Spicy Tuna Roll, and Avocado & Cucumber Roll to share. My husband had a Happy Hour beer. The rolls, salad and Golden Triangle were all good. We probably didn't need entrees after the apps, but we had them anyway. I had the spicy Thai Eggplant with vegetables. The veggies were super fresh. Their medium spicy was really hot for me! The meal was delicious. My husband had the Chicken Pad Thai. The portion was generous, the chicken was tender and he said the dish was tasty. My brother had the Thai Ginger with Pork, which is a favorite of his. The dining room is light and airy with subtle Asian decor. Seating was comfortable and we stayed a long time eating and chatting. They are located in a busy strip mall and parking can be tight. We parked on the far side of the lot.

TRY THEIR STEAK & CHEESE!…read more * Price: Most of their main entrées range from $10-$15. I got the Steak & Cheese Sub combo, which comes with fries and a drink, for $14. * Food: I ordered the Steak & Cheese Sub combo and devoured every bite. I added every topping they had (except mushrooms and tomatoes), and the cheese was perfectly melted and extra cheesy. The meat was juicy, and the bread stayed crisp. Their baklava was also great! * Cleanliness/Setting: You can tell the place is very community-oriented and family-owned, with all the different posters and flyers up. The interior is casual and chill. * Service: I met the owner's son, George Jr., and he was great! It was my first time here, and the service was very hospitable. He checked in to make sure everything was great and gave some recommendations.

My boyfriend and I ended up ordering George's Special: Steak & Cheese Philly Style w/fries and the Cajun Chicken Cheese Steak w/fries. Both were good and filling. I prefer the Steak and Cheese over the Cajun Chicken though as I didn't get as much Cajun as I was hoping for. I loved how crispy the fries were and amused by the length of some - you could do battle with some of them! It's a charming place serving great value. I wouldn't mind revisiting them.

We have been there dozens of times and have been happy every time, never a disappointment. We generally have the filet or shrimp and always have the fried rice as it is delicious. Meals come with shrimp appetizers, thin miso chicken broth and salad bowl. It gets loud at times but that is part of the experience of Japanese grilling! We have never had their sushi but others at our table have seemed satisfied with it. Overall a nice experience and great food. The wait staff is very attentive and your glass is never empty. Decided hibachi would be fun for a family gathering. Found this place randomly and returned 3x. They accept walk-in's and take reservations. It's easy to make reservations either online on their website or placing a phone call. All the employees here are very friendly and service was efficient. They have a waiting area near the front if your table is not ready. The first time we came we didn't make reservations and since it was a weekend, we waited 30 mins roughly. It wasn't too bad because the waiting area had seats, a tv, and decor to keep you relaxed while waiting. We've had 2 different chefs the 3x we went. I think the employees here have a good memory bc they recognized us the third time we went. We don't go consistently back to back so we were surprised considering it gets busy there and it's next to college, I imagine they get different people in and out. I find the chefs are very fun and go with the flow of the table. One night we went it was a quieter crowd so they adjusted to that temperament. They do the same fun tricks that get a laugh. The consistency in quality of the food was great. All three times had no issues with the food. They make note of your allergies which is great as one person in our party was allergic to seafood. The portion size is really good that if you decided to have an appetizer you could probably save half of your food to take home. I've gotten steak all three times, people in my party did steak and scallops. No complaints. You get soup and salad with your hibachi picks. And it comes with fried rice or white rice, noodles, shrimp, and veggies. I haven't tied the sushi but plan to try it next time I go. Passing by the area where people ordered sushi I will say it looked amazing. I find you get what you paid for here and it's worth it. I wish I did get some photos but we were so busy easy and enjoying our time it slipped my mind.

And we love new and fun experiences. So when I found an all you can eat sushi place served on conveyor belt, we were like sign me up. We were use to Kura and we love AYCE. So we made the 90 minute drive. The place has such an aesthetic vibe it just seems like a very cool place. And our server was very helpful and amazing with us. But I guess what was disappointing was the lack of choices, and even fresh choices on the conveyor belt. And the rolls and food we ordered that came on the mini train, as fun and exciting as it was, was inconsistent. Some rolls hit the spot and I wish I could just reorder over and over. Others were hard to eat, mainly because there was a lot of rice and you could hardly taste the quality of the seafood. I don't know if we just came on an in busy night or a busy time (a Sunday night around 5:30) but the expectation of more quality choices on conveyor belt and more consistent rolls I think would have helped us to justify the drive. Did we still enjoy ourself? Yes. And I would totally make the drive over and over IF I know that the quality of the rolls and the choices of the conveyor belt were what would consider worth it. The verdict is still out there.

Of course, I'm always down for a burger, so I stopped to check out BGR Burger…read more In short, I like Burger Grilled Right (BGR). As kind of a takeoff on the typical 1950's diner theme, BGR has an 80's rock theme, both in the music they play and the wall decorations. You go to the counter, place your order and they give you a buzzer to alert you that your meal is ready. I ordered the basic "The Burger". I like that in placing your order, you can explicitly specify what condiments and toppings you want on your burger. I also appreciate that each table has its own set of condiments and paper towels. Okay, cutting to the chase, how was my burger? In a big way, it comes down to if you prefer flame-broiled or griddle-cooked meat. Myself, I prefer griddle-cooked. Flame-broiled reminds me of Burger King burgers. BGR burgers are flame-broiled, so I don't love the taste of BGR meat, but it's still good. So If you like flame-broiled, you'll love BGR burgers. I was kinda surprised at the burger bun. It looked like a Brioche bun which is notorious for falling apart, but the BGR bun is sturdy and holds up well. The toppings, including grilled onions, were great. So overall, a very good burger. Yeah, all things considered, I'll be back.
