I've always enjoyed Bent Paddle's beers but never had an opportunity to go to the brewery. I mean, we are up in Duluth a fair amount, but Fitgers is usually our go to because food. So finally on our way back from up North this last week we decided to stop in. You might notice the area you drive through when you get off 35 seems a bit...sketchy. It totally is. But never fear, you are in fact in the right area! When we checked in on a Sunday afternoon, it wasn't very busy. It's a smaller taproom, maybe about half a dozen tables, some big, some small. Nice, though. Also plenty of seating at the bar. They had all of their flagship beers on tap and also 4 or so seasonals. I was still full from brunch so I ordered one of the seasonals, a wheat collaboration with Surly, Mother of the Gut, I think it was called, super good. Only $4 for a 16oz of the beers, good deal! Husband ordered the flight which came with all of the flagships and your choice of 2 seasonals. They have your typical swag (I got myself a shirt and a sticker for our rocket box), and rack of games. No food but you're free to carry in your own. Definitely worth a stop if you're passing through Duluth, don't let the questionable location scare you off (but lock your car for sure)! read more

Got in and no seats, we waited for about 15 minutes and still no seats. We drove across the town just to experience their Nitro Stout. So we were determined to atleast get a growler; but to our disappointment, you cannot carry a Nitro in a growler. Unfortunately for us we couldn't do anything. Did end up leaving there, without having anything since we decided to go across the town to Fitger's as we had been there before. They have parking and it did look like a very cool place here in Bent Paddle. However, we never tried anything here, so don't know if I can rate their food. However, I have tried their nitro a lot fo time here in Twin cities, which is yum! The staff looked friendly, but I was so disappointed, that they never made an effort to get us a table. The brewery in itself looked cool, the barrels placed as tables was innovative. They had tables where no seats were needed, as you could just go and stand next to it with a beer in the hand. They also do offer a tour of the brewery, which if we would have had a chance we would have done it, but after a wait of 15 minutes and no movement and no beer, we decided to ditch the tour and the place. read more

Amazing little brew pub. These guys have a great set up and their tap room is very clean and fun. My only gripe with this place is the two single stall bathrooms but other then that this place is a must next time you come to Duluth. read more

I love Bent Paddle. I have been to two of their "festiversary" events where you buy a ticket and get a limited edition pint glass, and get to sample limited edition beers. This happens annually in May. Such a fun event! The taproom is great for any night, and they have events going on often, such as bingo or live music. Food trucks outside and I've heard they will let you order food to the taphouse, but haven't done that myself. Overall, great brews, great people. read more

Stopped by recently on a Thursday afternoon, before the Bayfront Blues Fest. Brewery was fairly easy to find (w/ GPS). Easy parking on the street - not metered/ free. Food Truck was on-site on this night. Taproom - Surprisingly large. Very inviting. Good vibe. Maybe 75 or so person capacity. Very busy on this night. All tables full. Bar seats about 10 people. No outdoor seating. Too bad. It was a beautiful day. Not much of a selection of T-shirts. Couldn't find one I liked. Bartender - Neil - very helpful, as were the others serving. The beers I tasted: Black. - very good - like guinness, but with a titch more bite Blackcountry Blonde Ale - OK - a little hoppy. Cold Press Black Ale - rivals Surly Cacao Ale or Coffee Bender. - Uses Crazy juice Cold Press Coffee from Duluth. This is an awesome beer. !!!! This was easily my favorite. Calibration Dark - CO2 + Nitro -- Bent Paddle Black on steroids and very good. Overall rating - 5. The only thing I see missing is some outdoor seating and a view. But then again, it is located in an industrial park area. :) read more

Had the Black Ale, like to frequent local breweries. Husband had the blonde, I liked that you could bring food in, beer was good, will have to try their Blueberry infused beer the next time I am there December 2017; had their specialty beer; Double shot double black and also their cold press black ale. I checked out Bent Paddle Taproom on a Wednesday night about 7 o'clock p.m. they had a woman playing the accordion and a man playing acoustic guitar they were really good. They have 6 piece flights of beer for $9. Pints of beer for $4. After about a half-hour the place got really busy and it was totally packed. One table ordered a pizza delivery and we're eating at their table. I think this is one of the best tap rooms I've ever been to. And the beer is very good. I would recommend stopping in to Bent Paddle Taproom when you're in the Duluth area. read more

Really awesomely me bee, large spacious and clean tap room that is kid friendly and has menus from local restaurants that will bring in food. There were lots of groups meeting there, families in playing cards, etc. good outdoor space as well. Take away growlers or buy cans in local liquor stores...you will want to keep drinking this beer! read more

As a first time visitor in Duluth and self proclaimed champion beer drinker, I was referred to Bent Paddle as a must see. I was not disappointed. Great beer options and plenty of games to bide the time. Shaun will make sure you're taken care of while also sharpening your cribbage knowledge. The only thing that was missing for me was not offering any food besides a few snacks. But as adults, I'm sure we can all arrange food plans prior to arriving, am I right? Trendy and busy place of business. The Double Shot is absolutely amazing and maybe the best beer I have ever tasted. I'm not a hops fan and am hopeful the trend loses some steam soon, and that made it difficult for me to find anything else I truly enjoyed. If you like hops, this is your place. read more

I first had Bent Paddle beer at beer event last winter and I was immediately hooked. They have some of the best beer I have had in a long time. It is hard to choose a favorite but this time of year I am all about the stouts. I love their black ale and the cold press black is amazing. This was my third time at the taproom in 6 months and my second time taking the tour. The tour is informative, a good overview of the brewing process, which any good brewery tour should contain, but this tour focuses heavily on the how Bent Paddle came to be. The brewery is in the midst of its 3rd major expansion, which is fantastic cause that means MORE BEER. My first tour in June they showed us their newly acquired bourbon barrels that had just been filled with a new recipe and on Saturday we were able to try this new concoction: Double Black Ale. Oh my goodness, this is an amazing beer; chocolaty, deep, rich with just the right amount of bourbon from the barrel. The tour guide shared that the bourbon barrels have already been filled: Cold Press Double Black infused with Vanilla Beans!!! I will be back for some of that. This is my favorite brewery and the reason I travel from the Twin Cities to Duluth, you can bet I will be back again. read more

The beer is all good as you might expect but if you need something to wind the night down, I highly recommend the hidden gem, the root beer not made by them but delicious and a good way to wind down! read more

Very great beer with good bartenders. The atmosphere is great despite there being a lot of extra space (aka not cozy for a taproom). Very modern appearance and wow those beers! I personally loved the Daypack Pale Ale and the cold press Black Ale the best. All beers were good though and I love, love, love that you can get 10 oz pours for $3. Great place! read more

Great beers. Had a nitro IPA and it was the nectar of the beer gods! A must visit for locals and tourists alike.

This place had so much potential when I walked in. The graphics were modern, the pub was clean and appealing, and the brewery itself seemed ahead of the game. However, the beer is severely behind the hype that this place gets. The black ale is their best beer on tap right now...but by best I mean almost the only enjoyable beer. Everything else seemed to be grasping for something more. The bartenders were hardly interested in their customers, trying desperately to not look at people. The location is a but sketchy and not ideal. The worst were all the yuppie hipsters who are flocking to this place to choke down the beer. It's painful to watch something as sacred as microbrewing getting thrown to the trust fund hipsters of Duluth. read more

First brewery we hit up in Duluth. We tried the black ale and the blonde ale. The black ale has a great coffee-like flavor to it. The blonde ale reminded me more of a saison. The tap room has a relaxed feel. They have games available to play with while you drink. There are a lot of hoppy choices, which is great if that's your thing. This place is worth a visit! read more

We made a trip from the cities to Duluth to hit a few tap rooms and enjoy a few beers. We hit two taprooms before we got to Bent Paddle. We were looking to see if they are nicer to people here then they were in Plymouth last year at a wine tasting event. The answer is a big no. It was busy and a few of the staff were trying to take care of people while others were standing around joking and laughing with each other. A guy named Mike was working hard but gave us the time of day so if the whole place had people like him working there it would have been a good experience.There was another women who had a lot of body art was very short with us and downright rude. There were long lines waiting for beer with very little help. They were understaffed and we did not stay long. With so many choices of taprooms in Duluth don't waste your time here. read more
