Our experience with Ben started off pretty good. He came over and gave us a great price to paint our kitchen, kitchen cabinets and a stairway leading to the second floor. He gave us a written quote and even told us we could return paint that we had already purchased for the job as he would be supplying the paint. So we went ahead and did as he asked but then he disappeared. We tried to call him for about 3 or 4 days but he never returned our call. Needless to say it was a big disappointment. He knew the job was urgent as our kitchen was in shambles then he flaked on us. Very unprofessional. If you don't want to do a job just let your customers know so you don't waste anyone's time. Back to square one.. In response to your response: all you had to do was say you weren't interested but instead it looks like you're making it personal. Not answering calls or messages is unprofessional. And asking questions about the process is not telling you how to do your job. We just wanted to know the process. read more

I recently had Ben's paint my ceilings, trim, and a few rooms in my Chicago style bungalow. I also had him do some interior plaster work that I'd been putting off forever. I had previously used him for drywall taping and painting on a basement project I did back in the fall. His plaster and taping work are particularly noteworthy. Working with tape and mud is definitely an art, as anyone who has ever tried it can attest! It's getting hard to find contractors who can even do plaster work on these older homes, much less do it well. Many will just try to convince you to put 1/8" drywall over damaged plaster to avoid the substantial work and skill it takes to repair it correctly. But Ben is highly capable in this regard. He fixed a large area on a wall which used to be a closet many years ago. You cannot see where the fills are even if you stare at the area, which is pretty amazing given how bad the previous owner's hack job looked. His drywall taping and mudding is also outstanding, as you would expect from someone who knows how to work with plaster. You cannot see the tape marks, even in the corners. Ben is very easy to work with and offers fair pricing. Unlike some painting companies, you're working directly with the owner here, not some crew being paid minimum wage. Because of that, he treats your things like they're his own, including your floors and furniture. He worked quickly both times I used him, which meant minimal disruption on relatively large projects. Nothing worse than having all your furniture covered for weeks at a time because the painter is juggling 10 different jobs. Ben makes sure he schedules adequate time to do your job right, I found. In short, I would definitely recommend Ben's Painters to anyone needing either painting, drywall, or plaster work. 5 stars! read more
