Impressions from a walkin, 6:30, Saturday night: New management - we have been here on and off for years - how are they now? Uh-oh, only about 5-6 tables filled of 20 or so. Seating was fast, decor and lighting and music and background noise all pleasant. Timing was fine on ordering, fast on appetizers, perfect on dinner, surprising glacially slow on 2 glasses of wine (though that came with an apology). There was only 1 waiter working on a Saturday night! The food was very good - I had the Wonton soup, and ginger fish, my spouse had broccoli chicken. Though I just read some other reviews, I can say that the food has improved (I liked it before, like it more now). The food here is incredible. I order takeout from here at least twice a week, and it has always been very consistent. I've tried a lot of items from the menu, but the chicken kra-pow is my favorite. This was the first Thai restaurant that we have ever eaten in that was not delicious. We ate at around 6 p.m. on a Saturday night so I cannot make an excuse that it would have been the real chef's night off. The food for the main course was flavorless, and arrived lukewarm as well. The duck tasted funny. Even before we were finished, a woman arrived to clear the table; and she loudly smacked down dishes on top of one another in a very angry manner. The only positive things I can say was that the tea was delicious and that there was a very clever tiny arrangement of a fresh flower and the tip of a pine branch on the table. After a long work week traveling this was the perfect delivery to my residence inn in an unfamiliar town. Delivered fast, very authentic, crispy spring rolls, thai tea delivered with no mess...a very pleasant surprise. That being said, they have a minimum credit charge of $20, which seems high, and i asked for extra soy sauce and received none. Only important since i was traveling for work and had to pay with a credit card and had no backup soy sauce. Ill definitely give them another try! read more

We've been here twice. The menu is a typical Thai assortment. The decor is marginal, which would be fine if the food was exceptional. But it is not. Mediocre food in huge portions. Make the extra five mile drive to Siam Village in Maynard. The food at Benjarong is mediocre. My family had stopped going to this place years ago in favor of the Maynard places but my boyfriend and I ordered this tonight because it delivers. We got the drunken noodles and the kra pow chicken. Drunken noodles is one of my favorite foods but this place's version was bland. The kra pow actually was very good, but the noodles were the deal breaker. However, the best thing about this place is that they deliver. Only a three dollar delivery charge. Worth it for a night when you don't want to leave the house. read more

Ordered delivery online. Big mistake. Food finally arrived after a two hour wait. I called after 1:15 and was told it would be a few minutes. Food only appeared when I rang to cancel. Sauce had leaked from one of the dishes and soaked the packaging. Needless to say it was stone cold. Food was OKish once reheated. Nothing special. Blown away by this place. Friendly service and the food is fantastic. We started out with the spring rolls, then moved on to the the green curry with chicken and veggie pad thai. When I asked for it hot they truly did make it hot - outstanding quality. For desert we had the mango sticky rice (looked all over for this for years, couldn't find it anywhere outside of DC until we found it here - didn't disappoint!) and ginger ice cream. My friend and I got take out here and ordered a red curry chicken and vegetable dish and a dim sum sampler. The dim sum wontons were mushy, not crispy at all. The curry dish was overpowered by coconut milk but was tasty enough to finish. The service was really good. The girl who took our order was the chef's granddaughter. She was very accommodating and when we asked if the dish was too spicy she told us her Grandma could make it however we liked. The restaurant definitely needs a makeover! Despite the plain atmosphere, the food is excellent and pretty healthy if you know what to order. Fresh rolls are excellent, as are the noodle dishes. Thai spicy noodles may be one of the better takeout dishes I have had anywhere in Acton. I suggest going light on the onions, however. I order online here a couple of times a month. It's always ready on time and fresh. The chicken krapow and namsod salad are my favorites. My daughters love the paradise beef, golden bags, fresh rolls, thai iced tea and mango sticky rice. Sad - no one would need to tell me the management and everything else has changed behind the scenes - the food was always good every time for years - and from day one it is clear the new group did not inherit the previous recipes or food standards despite apparently keeping the menu. I eat Pad Thai. This Pad Thai is mushy and somehow on the flavor spectrum close to strawberry milk without actually tasting like strawberries or milk. This was our regular local restaurant for special occasions, I would now rather go to Makaha and get the same noodles for half the price, albeit with a mystery sauce of a darker shade of brown. My family comes here regularly, probably more than any other restaurant in Acton. The atmosphere is lovely since it's never busy but never empty either, so it's really relaxing. The service is great! except for one kind of grumpy waiter we sometimes get but the friendliness of the rest of the staff definitely makes up for it. fast too since like I said, it's not very busy. The Thai iced tea is delicious and the golden bags are a favorite that I get every time. I always recommend Benjarong to friends because it's not that well-known but definitely the place to go if you're looking for something new or different. The Thai food here will rival any I've had; and it is consistently good as I have noticed over many years. In particular: Thai chicken wings (very crispy, flavor galore and no grease at all), Thai spicy noodle (spicy basil Pad Thai), green curry duck (very fine sauce). I just recently moved to Concord, a few months ago from Long Island. Thai food is amazing and was so worried I wouldn't be able to find such a great place, than the ones I have been going to for years. Yet this place tops off all of the ones I have eaten at in the Concord/Acton Area. The pad thai is my favorite dish overall, and the noodles are the flat noodles, not like the other restaurants. I've been going to Benjarong for more than a decade for Pad Thai. It was a great meal. But since the restaurant changed ownership recently, the Pad Thai is horrible. It has no flavor at all; you might as well boil noodles in hot water and put it on the plate! I've told the woman at the register this, and all I get is a "okay." Not truly awful, but not impressive.The Vietnamese-style fresh rolls looked nice, with a basil leaf showing through each one, but didn't have much flavor. Pad Thai had no heat or cilantro at all, but was syrupy sweet. This was the first place I tried Thai food and I love it!!! My favorite is the luncheon special of Spicy Thai noodle with chicken...I get it every time! You get soup which is always awesome and an appetizer which is always a surprise as it is different each time I go there and it is always yummy! This place used to be really good, a weekly dinner place for me. Then it was sold and the portions shrunk and the prices skyrocketed. My recipe for my favorite meal (shrimp pad thai) must have changed because it is not nearly as good. Often it depends on who is in the kitchen that day.
