Didn't know how to fix my plumbing problem so he gets another plumbing company to look at my problem and tries to get them to give estimate. the guy advised that he couldn't without seeing more.Then the guy calls in American water damage or something like that.They advised that my insurance would pay for it. So while they were here I called my insurance company. They asked me to take pictures. I was on speaker phone and the rep from American Water damage advised that he would send his pictures to the insurance company.It was a scam maybe legal but a scam. There's more but I don't feel like thinking about the fact that he charged me triple what the toilet he bought for me . They took out a perfectly good sink and cabinet claiming it was water damaged too. read more

Benjamin Franklin plumbing installed a water heater for me, everything went great. Afterwards, noticed air in my hot water faucet that wouldn't go away. They came out and replaced the expansion tank but unfortunately that was not the cause. At this point the issue is getting worse, but they will not return my phone calls. I speak to their office personnel who all state to forward my message to the manager. They do not believe in 100% satisfaction guaranteed like their ads say. If you possibly can, shop around. Though the technician was very good and the job was well done, the pricing was outrageous. The price for installing a $750 well pump is $1750? It took less than an hour. Either the labor cost is through the roof or the markup on the part is....maybe both. A $750 part doesn't become more valuable because you got it from "your supplier." Before I bash them for what they did I can first compliment them on the actual job. I had a cracked pipe that I needed replaced, they came out, found the problem and then fixed the problem. Cool, not here's where the 2 stars come in at. As the job was continuing he was basically going off prices in his head I'm not sure exactly if I was getting normal prices or prices with "employee tax" on top of it. ALSO as he was working on the job he had cut a wire to my light switch and then tried to say it had gotten damaged from the leakage. Don't waste your time or hard earned money. This is the biggest rip-off I've ever encountered. I was quoted $452 for a toilet valve replacement. This was a 20 minute job. The tech spent more time on the phone trying to get approval to do the job for less than he did In my home. I finally agreed to let him proceed with the replacement at a negotiated rate of $345, which was still WAY overpriced. A whopping $790/hour if you assume at least 30 mins. of work. Understanding that there is drive time involved here, the rate is still obscene by any reasonable standard. And when I asked for an estimate in advance, I was told "We don't provide estimates up front. We'll provide one after we come to your home." That should have been my first red flag. After all, a simple quote for a clearly simple repair is far from a heavy lift. It's now plainly evident to me that price is likely based on the neighborhood and what they assume once they arrive, relative to one's ability to pay. Interestingly, and what prompts me to write this review, is the conversation I had with my parents this evening. They live in a community 15 mins away from my home and needed a plumber to install new faucets and drains in 3 bathrooms and perform one minor repair. The job took a little over 2.5 hours at a cost of $600, including drive time. So I say to those who read this review: CAVEAT EMPTOR... Do your homework and walk away when it doesn't quite make sense. I called to have an estimate regarding replacing drain pipe under my kitchen sink. Person arrived on time but provided an extremely high estimate (over $1600) as well as kept trying to sell me a protection plan I did not want. Ended up calling another plumbing company who came out and replaced the pipe for 1/4 of the price Benjamin Franklin quoted me and now sink is draining perfectly. I had an issue with my toilet. I called these guys. The very next day they were here. In the time frame they stated. They called 30 minutes before showing up. Can't ask for better than that. The plumber was courteous, worked clean, and did exactly as he stated. Hey told us he would be back with parts and have the toilet replaced within the hour. He did. He helped get someone there within a couple hours to help light the pilot. He was very patient in explaining to my patient the issue and what it would take to fix it. Vince Schinchirimini was AMAZING!!!. He completed 4 jobs at our home in Elkton, MD. He repaired a leaking toilet - which was the original reason why we needed him to come out. But additionally, he replaced a spill valve, a faucet AND a bathroom sink. I cannot speak highly enough for his professionalism, courtesy and timeliness with his repair. Not only did he do all of this work for me, BUT he also cleaned everything. When he was done his work, he put things back from where he moved them in order to complete his work. Benjamin Franklin Pluming is the worse in this area. I called them for a main sewer clog, the service guy spent half day at the house. Since my wife was here he recommended all sorts of work to me done, including taking the half bathroom toilet off the floor, makes no sense since the clog is from the edge of the house to the road. He charged us $405, including tax and he refused to accept the advertised $50 plumbing service coupon on their website. But that's not the worse in this situation, a week later I have the same clog issue. I called BF back and they said they will charge $39 service fee plus another $160.00 for the service, no warranty was given for their work other than the toilet drain, really? I had another company check the situation and they were completely honest to me that a week later I should not have the issue again, even if roots were cause of the clog issue. When they clean the sewer and roots are present they still open the area wide enough that would last months not weeks. Anyway, $405.00 later with lots of aggravation I'm still with the problem and this company would not even attempt to honer their work. Very disappointed. Now I'd rather pay $400.00 to another company that can get the work done with 60-90 day warranty vs. giving BF another penny. read more
