Ok, I'm going to tell you my story. It was a true blessing in disguise, it was through a round about way, I went to see my primary care doctor for a uncontrollable cough that would keep me up all night long. He prescribed a cough med that contained Codeine and unbeknownst to me because I have BPH the cough medication completely shut down my plumbing system. I couldn't poop or pee voluntarily for weeks. So along with 2 other prescribed antibiotics - I was constipated. I had to take 3x3 (total of 9) Ducolax laxatives and so many fresh squeezed veggie juices from the juice bar to help with my pooping. My PCP conducted a PSA test and DRE. Results of the PSA and DRE indicated a likelihood of cancer. I consulted Dr. Peng for his advice and counsel. He explained the possibilities and requested that I have a biopsy to confirm cancer. I had a positive biopsy. Dr. Peng then recommended discussion with a surgeon and radiation specialist doctor, referring me to renowned experts. I have been a patient of Doctor Peng since 2019 and have found him to be charismatic, personable, compassionate, and most importantly, a good listener all the time during each and every visit. He has the ability to make me feel at ease when performing biopsy on my prostate, with a personal follow-up call next morning. Two years later, he simply chatted with me when giving me cystoscopy. Before I realized, the procedure was completed, with me hardly feel a thing. When it comes to maintenance drugs for my BPH (after the biopsy), Doctor Peng explained to me the benefits of combination therapy. Dr. Peng is my urologist for the past few years. Recently I had a few kidney stones. I passed some but the last one was big and passed into my bladder. I had to get a lithotripsy done to break up the stone and flush it out of my bladder. I went to the hospital and Dr. Peng had explained the procedure in advance. It was to be done under general anesthesia. Before the surgery, Dr. Peng carefully explained the procedure to my father who had accompanied me. His staff explained what each of their roles were during surgery and were very nice in calming my nerves. Dr. Peng performed a successful lithotripsy. He then went back to my father and told him I was in recovery and explained how big the stone was and how all went well. Dr. Peng waited till I awoke from the anesthesia and spoke to me and told me everything went well and I was on the mend. I went to his office the next day to have a catheter removed that was inserted during surgery. I was accompanied by my mother who he met and explained what he had done and that I was doing excellent. 2020 Dr Peng Recommendation I was a complicated case. After an abdominal ultrasound, my initial diagnosis was extensive hydronephrosis with obstructive BPH and a bladder 3 times normal size. I came to my first visit with Dr. Peng from Suffolk County 50 miles away. When I arrived at Dr. Peng's office, I had been wearing a foley catheter for over 6 weeks. The previous urologist only provided vague responses to my questions. The first urologist had to perform a cystoscopy to catheterize me and did not have a definitive plan to address my situation. I was very in need of a second opinion. After performing a thorough exam and taking my history, Dr. Peng clearly explained my options and offered a very clear course of action. Rezum reversed practically all of my BPH symptoms with no noticeable side effects! I had Rezum at Dr. Peng's office in January 2021. Prior to this procedure, I couldn't be far from a bathroom as I had to go fairly often. This was particularly challenging early in the covid pandemic as it was difficult to find bathrooms that I could use. I was having these symptoms despite already taking medications. The procedure itself did involve some painful moments, but they were brief, while steam is being injected into the prostate. The procedure itself lasts only about 15 minutes. After the procedure, you have to wear a foley catheter for a few days to a week. Once the foley has been removed, it's just a matter of time until the BPH symptoms start improving. In my case, I noticed a dramatic improvement at week 10. I was no longer thinking about where the bathrooms were, and I could go for several hours without needing to go to the bathroom. I am currently tapering myself off of my medications, and I am expecting not to need them anymore. Dr Peng undoubtedly is one of the better, if not the best, doctors I've been a patient of. I actually know of him years ago when he treated my mother. Now, I have a urination issue, so I visited him. Being a patient, bedside manners is the 1st observation, until I'm evaluated by the doctor and treated. He was friendly and warm coming into my area. Dr Peng got into the issue(s) immediately, professionally, and most-competently IMO. I just felt perhaps he could have given me a little more "explanation" of his observations and advice. But.... not complaining. I didn't give a 5-star rating is because I find that his staff somehow don't seem to be as attentive and caring. I handed in a urine sample. A staffer seemed to me fearing to open up the cap. So, she instructed me to take the bottle, open the cap and place the bottled urine on a table. I thought that's part of her job once I handed it in. The other staff also may consider paying some attention to interacting with the patients more cordially. It was warm and a little stuffy in the office, but I felt a little coolness, aloof kind of sensation, somewhat contrary to the sunshiny Dr Peng. read more

This is a five star m.d. by any measure. I worked in a hospital for two years and I believe I know a competent physician when I see one. Dr. Peng is very competent and knowledgeable. Aside from that, he has a good sense of humor, and he is comfortable in his own awareness of himself. On my first visit, about 15 months ago, I described my symptoms (BPH) to him, and asked how we could proceed to resolve my condition. He prescribed Silodosin, and after several months, he added Finesteride and Cialis (5 mg). The Finesteride got the prostate down to a manageable size, and about four months ago he performed a Rezum procedure which destoyed more of the prostate cells through heat ablation. Long story short, I no longer have to get up 3 or 4 times a night. Also, I can sit through a movie without having to run to the restroom. I have appreciated his patience and willingness to proceed in a conservative matter to resolve my situation. Remember though, while this worked well for me, your situation may be milder or more servere than mine was. The bottom line is, you are in good hands with Dr. Peng. read more

This review is long overdue, but had to be shared. Dr. Peng came highly recommended by my PCP when I was searching for a Urologist to perform my vasectomy. I don't think I need to elaborate on how much concern and apprehension went into my thought process, but after my initial consultation with Dr. Peng I honestly felt I (we) were in good hands. I'm in a very competitive flag (sometimes tackle) football league, and play every Sunday of the season. Football is one of my greatest joys, so I was naturally disappointed (at the time) when I learned my procedure was scheduled on a Friday. Rhetorically, I asked Dr. Peng if this meant I wouldn't be able to play on Sunday and I could immediately tell the answer was a hell no by his facial reaction. I have been seeing Dr. Peng for over 27 years. To me, Dr. Peng is not only a doctor, but also a friend who always treats me with respect. He also asks me about my family every time I see him. I am pleased to tell people my story. I was involved in a car accident in upstate NY about 38 years ago. In that accident, my bladder was badly ruptured and a surgery was done. As a result, a stricture was developed in my urethra, which made me very difficult to urinate. After the surgery, I was then referred to Dr. Peng for recovery. I have been having elevated PSA since 2/2017. Upon my retirement in 2019, my top priority is to tackle the issue. To do it right, I need to look for a urologist with whom I feel comfortable. I can say unequivocally that Dr. Peng's modern approach to medical procedures is far superior to that of his predecessor. It has been 3 years since I've started visiting Dr. Peng and I'm very happy under his care.
