The treatment I get takes 20 minutes and only a minute or so of that is ouchy. I still go to Amanda and she told me last time she's had a customer tell her she had the same waxing somewhere else and it took double that time. Now that is torturous. In the process of trying to convince my boyfriend to come here for a boys facial tidyup. He has defiant eyebrows. Shall update if I manage.

I can't believe I've not reviewed Ivy before!…read more Ivy is a great wee beauty salon, which uses all organic products for guilt free pampering. I first came here on a Groupon voucher, but enjoyed it so much I've been back several times since. The main reason is that Ivy are great value for money, especially with their frequent offers. Every month a new email is sent out detailing the offers for that month, and it's worthwhile checking their Facebook page too. Most recently I had a 60 minute full body massage with Lana, and because she's new I got 40% off! And ohhh it was good. I absolutely love massages, and this was just as good as any other I've had before. My shoulders are still very knotty (though Lana really went at them) so I'll probably be back soon for another go. On their Tempting Tuesdays they do several popular treatments for only £20, including a 30 minute Swedish massage, so it's an affordable treat. I'm glad I found Ivy, especially given it's near my flat so absolutely perfect for popping into after work. If you live locally you should definitely give them a try too.

I went to the wax bar straight afterwards because I wanted to cry at my nails. They gave me an appointment for the sat morning although I think they got me in after I showed them my nails. They were a joke. I felt sorry for them also as it's not nice having to put some one else's work right. They had no problems with this and just wanted to put them right for me. Sat morning and the service, the treatment was first class here in the wax bar. The girls were lovely and I think they were all pleased including me with the end result. They are now beautiful for a exciting and beautiful day on Monday. I could not be more thrilled with my nails. And this time I have shellac on my nails instead of nail Polish and a clear top coat that just came off with nail Polish. I am so so pleased I choose the wax bar and have to say they have gained a happy customer and I most certainly will go back. I also happened to pick up a price list of all the procedures they do so will definitely be taking some of these treatments up also. Needless to say I am walking on air now with my nails. There stunning. First class service thankyou.

SBL is owned and operated by Iram - who is great! So great in fact, I go about twice a month! (Iram used to work for a very popular/well known West End beauty boutique but decided to open her own business.) I regularly get my eyebrows threaded, manicures (shellac), and waxing done by Iram. For waxing (especially intimate waxing) - Iram is the best. She is so quick, makes it pain free, and is a perfectionist. She is also really keen to help you get into a routine to prevent any ingrown hairs and provides really good info on what to do at home and between treatments. My shallac manicures last at least two weeks and they rarely chip. (I usually get bored with the colour and get my manicure removed because my nails grow quickly!) I have been getting my eyebrows threaded for about 10 years and am super picky. Iram knows what is good for your face and adjusts the threading treatment appropriately. Iram also specialises in other beauty treatments, such as: eyelash extensions, eyelash tinting, make up application and spray on tans. One of things I really like is that SBL is text you receive a text a day before your treatment, which is a great reminder. I highly recommend Iram! (Just hope she doesn't get too busy now!)

** By appointment only!!**…read more As much as it tickles me when people in supermarkets ask if my inch long, drag queen thick lashes are real, I can easily admit that no... no folks, they are not. I've been getting lash extensions for the better part of a year and quite frankly, i'm addicted to them. I started getting them because I'm a monster with make up and come hell or high-water, water proof or not, when I went into my last meeting of the day without fail, i'd be sporting a nifty set of mascara raccoon eyes. It was super classy. So I got extensions, to keep from looking like a walking zombie in business meetings. Since then, it's amazing how addicted to them i've become. When I moved here in October, I didn't have a lash tech and went without the extensions for three months. Yup... it resulted in some pretty spectacular raccoon eyes but there's other little differences that irked me. For one, I hate getting my picture taken and because the universe is sometimes a jerk, I have a job that requires getting my picture taken... a lot. Eyelash extensions might not seem like a huge huge deal but they add a little boost of confidence in those situations. Let's be honest - confidence boosting, no matter how little, can be a really big thing. They also keep me from scaring delivery drivers who knock on my door before 10am. Bed head looks better with extensions. Trust me on this. So there's a ton of perks but finding a lash tech whose lashes can go the distance? Tough. I'm a girly girl who is REALLY bad at being a girly girl. I fuss with my lashes, I rub my eyes, I fiddle with them when i'm stressed and I keep going for larger, more anime ridiculous lashes every time I go back. So when it comes to extensions - I need the foolproof kind. This lady is a wizard. She takes appointments via phone and you get set up in a little room at her house. A full set takes about 1.5 hours and costs £35... coming from Vancouver, where a set of the same can be $80-100? I'm in. But the true test is how long they last and after two weeks (which were filled with dramatic stress causing, lash fiddling moments), they're still looking pretty dandy. I dare say i'll get them filled every three weeks but regular, more dainty folks could definitely stretch to four or five. Plus she has two really darn cute dogs. So bonus "awwwww" factor there. If you're considering extensions, this is your best bet in the city... and trust me, i've done the research. But before you go, know what you're getting into. If you're looking for just event lashes, go with a strip lash. Extensions are amazing and don't do permanent damage to your lashes (each extension is glued on to individual lashes and fall out as your lashes naturally do) but if you fuss with them, they will mean some stubby lashes when they extensions come off. However, I had my natural lashes for three months and though they started off wee, they grew back to normal length pretty quickly. But if you're looking to have flutter worthy lashes on a regular basis, they are a great alternative to fussing with strip lashes on a regular basis. Whether you go here or elsewhere, make sure the people doing the lashes know their stuff, because let's be honest, it's your peepers! But really... why look around? I did the research for you. Migle is awesome, so keep it simple and go treat yourself!

This will be a long review, but I wanted to provide as much info as possible for anyone who might…read morebe thinking about coming to this clinic for aesthetic work. I had Ultherapy done by Dr. Victoria here several months ago. The results, though only 3 months out, have been very good so far and my experience with the clinic has overall been very professional and good. The clinic is quite posh and plush. Prices are dear, but you are being taken care of by a real doctor and not someone who took a 3 hour course on how to give Botox in a nail salon. You will indeed get what you pay for here. Consult: The clinic is busy, so plan accordingly. Dr. Victoria saw me herself and after I asked her a few questions about the procedure (I had been doing research for months) answered them well. She would be doing the Ultherapy herself, rather than a nurse practitioner. I went in for Ultherapy on my lower face, jawline and under the chin. Although I'm in my late 30's and overall have very little wrinkling and good skin (thank you sunscreen!), I was starting to get jowly over the last 3-4 years and noticed I looked angry and like I was scowling or frowning, not to mention that my jawline had lost most of its definition. There are no creams that will give that lift but I also didn't want a drastic, invasive procedure. I liked that Ultherapy was gradual (results develop over 3-6 or more months) and it really is a lunchtime procedure, as there is very little risk of bruising or redness. There was one slight problem, which Dr. Victoria was well aware of and addressed quickly: most of what I had read described Ultherapy as extremely painful and I have a pretty low pain threshold. She offered a test zap on my jaw, at the same frequency that would be used on my face if I chose to go ahead, and it wasn't painful. There was a quick, hot zing, but it was more than bearable. She told me that due to the laxity in my jawline I would be a good candidate. Of course, the cynical part of me expects an aesthetic doctor to say that, but I come from a family of doctors and knew she was right. She wasn't trying to push other procedures such as Botox on me, although she suggested *maybe* after seeing the results develop if I wanted a chin filler since I have a weak, receding chin. After my last follow-up Dr. Victoria said my results were coming along so well that she didn't feel the filler was necessary anymore, only if I wanted it (I'll pass for now). So let's move on to the Ultherapy itself: I took half a tablet of pain medication just in case. During the consult you can ask Dr. Victoria about pain management options but for most people it should be bearable, though perhaps uncomfortable at times. The Ultherapy machine works on ultrasound waves and self-regulates based on sensors that scan the thickness of the skin and its laxity. There were dozens of zaps along my lower face and under my chin. No nose or upper lip. Out of those dozens of zaps maybe 4 or 5 were painful, mostly right under my chin and on each side of my nose along the cheekbone. From start to finish it was all done in less than an hour. Over the next few days I had no redness, pain or bruising. There was mild soreness in my face, comparable to when you've had an intense workout and your muscles are a bit achy. That lasted a few days but wasn't an issue. I was still able to chew and speak normally and I slept through the night fine. I noticed a lift in my jawline over the next few weeks. Very gradual, subtle but definitely there. When I came back a few days ago for my three month follow up both Dr. Victoria and her nurse were surprised at how well and quickly my results had developed so far. I saw the photos side by side and was very pleasantly surprised too. This procedure is ideal if you have mild to moderate sagging. If you are much older and the sagging is severe, it may not do much for you and you will likely need a thread lift or a face lift. It is also apparently good for the neck, as a gentle eye or brow lift and for the chest area, but I wasn't in need of that. But so far I got the results I was looking for so I feel it was well worth it. I don't look like I'm frowning or scowling as much and my jawline has definition again. We'll see what kind of touch up I need 3-5 years from now.

I've visited the clinic twice and think the team are very professional and helpful. In addition,…read moreit'ws absolutely spotless.
