I ordered takeout not only was the food a gross mess it was made incorrectly. I ordered the Wagyu fried rice and they mixed chicken all in it. I also ordered chicken fried rice with no veggies and no eggs and they gave me two chicken fried rice one with veggies and one with eggs.

Haven't been to a Benihana in sooooo long. I know yelp rating for this place isn't that great but we went and had an excellent dinner. Delicious! Food and service were amazing! We came and left early so the place was a bit quiet.

The service at the resturant was 0-10. We got into the resturant at 9:00 and we waited at the front desk for 30 mins. Once someone helped us they their kitchen is closed at 9:30, but we got there at 9:00. Plus it says they close at 10:00. When we called the resturant to see if they were still accepting walk ins they said yes and that we can come at any time. Once I called the customer service team so they can update it they hung up on me.

Ok. This was my first Benihana ever. I've had tons of teppanyaki in Japan but this is not that. This is a fun and chill and a who cares experience. The Wagyu course (yes a touch pricier) was the total worth its upgrade to your course and show. You share a hot table with others unless you're in a big party but guess what. Don't do that. Go with a small group. Share a table. Make friends. Don't expect Japan's finest...just love it. Buyer beware on the cocktail list but hey set your expectations. You'll love it.

I've been going to Benihana for about 20 years now, visiting four different locations and probably dining there around 20 times. The experiences can vary, but tonight was truly one of the best. Not only was the food cooked perfectly, but our server, Mark, was exceptional; hands down the best all-around service I've ever had from a Benihana server. Huge shoutout to him! The chef (whose name I unfortunately don't remember) also did a fantastic job, my Land and Sea (filet mignon and scallops) was cooked to absolute perfection. This location in Monterey has the added bonus of being right on the water, with the beautiful Monterey Wharf just outside to explore afterward. All in all, an amazing experience. Highly recommend this location and if you can, definitely try to get Mark as your server!

It's been awhile since we've been to a Benihana. We went for dinner on a Thursday. No reservation no wait. The service here was impeccable. Very attentive. Our chef was cool and our food was amazing! It's very welcoming and bright. Nice decor.

It's a rare occasion for me to experience a place like this. My party of 4 made a reservation way in advance as the place gets packed for dinner time. Upon arrival, we were sat immediately and given wonderful service. From the front desk person to our server and chef, all were friendly and welcoming. One was charismatic which added to the dinner. We ordered a variety of things which included surf and turf, chicken and more. I loved the show we were given. Fresh ingredients, of course, including a glass of recommended cabernet. I'll definitely remember this place to try more of their food and to experience the hospitality. Come hungry!

Me and my Nana dined here on a Sunday. We were seated at a communal table with a family of 3 and 2 girlfriends, as most habachi style dining is... The table must be at least 6 or more. We ordered the specialty 6 course hibachi meal. It comes with onion soup, salad with miso dressing, shrimp appetizer, vegetables, mushrooms, homemade dipping sauces, chicken fried rice and a dessert option of ice cream or sherbet. Also included is Japanese hot green tea, upon request. For our order we chose the BENIHANA SPECIAL. Steak paired with a cold water lobster tail. The waiter, a sweet Japanese woman took our drink orders first. Then shortly served onion soup first, then the salad with miso dressing. After the appetizer, the chef comes and introduces himself... Antonio was our teppanyaki chef. He was very entertaining, funny and attentive. He was also so hospitable. He explained every cooking step to us, from the sauces to the cooking of rice, veggies and grilling our protein. I loved his sense of humor. He took good care of everyone at our table. He cooked all of the vegetables, chicken fried rice, shrimp and our steak and lobster well. Everything was delicious. After our meal, we chose rainbow sherbet ice cream. It was the perfect ending to our delicious meal. Service: Antonio and our waiteress was perfect. They provided us with attentive and excellent service. The waiteress always made sure our drinks were full. I rarely had to ask for a refill on my Sprite. The environment was a joyous one. There were several birthday patrons. The staff comes out with tambourines, drums, guitars to sing happy birthday. It was a joy to see how much they put into wishing you a happy birthday. This Benihana is a cut above the other locations i've been to. Wonderful atmosphere, attentive staff, spacious and near perfect customer service. I will surely return...

Meats are from Snake River Farms which is good to know. The fresh Pacific oysters from Fanny Bay, Canada were outstanding. So fresh and not fishy at all and plus the jalapeño onion mignonette was sweet and so good that I saved it for my steak lol I loved the cap of my prime rib but the middle was a bit chewy like it is with most prime rib. i was really glad that the steak dinners come with the mashed potatoes and stir fry spinach (also glad it wasn't creamed spinach for a change). He enjoyed his ribeye as well. The salts are really interesting and we were told to use it sparingly since the steaks were already seasoned intentionally. He ordered a glass of Emblem and I had Bee's Knees which was pretty syrupy sweet in the way that honey is with a hint of bitterness. We shared a mini key lime pie which was pretty good and exactly what you would expect. The free birthday cannoli is so fun and was presented with a sparkler but unfortunately my least favorite because of the odd tasting candied fruits in the cream. We had an amazing time here and really enjoyed our dining here.

Starting with the Whaling Station Cheeseburger, it was cooked perfectly and the beef was juicy. However, it just needed a little more pizzazz. The bun could have been toasted for added texture, and the burger itself was lacking seasoning and a flavorful sauce to tie everything together. It felt like a well-cooked, classic burger but didn't quite stand out. The Beef Wellington was also well executed. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the puff pastry was beautifully flaky and held together nicely. My biggest critique was the saltiness. I understand the prosciutto naturally adds salt, but it seemed like the steak may have been seasoned as well, making the overall dish a bit too salty for my taste. I also wasn't a fan of the sauce served underneath, as it didn't complement the Wellington the way I expected. The spinach side was another miss, it tasted like previously frozen spinach that had been wilted down with bacon and wasn't very enjoyable. The real star of the night was the Twice Baked Loaded Potato. It was packed with flavor, perfectly creamy, and loaded just right. My only minor suggestion would be a crispier potato skin for a little extra texture, but even then, it was easily the highlight of the meal. I'd order it again in a heartbeat. Service was attentive, friendly, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the meal. The ambiance felt upscale and perfect for a nice dinner out, although the seating arrangement felt a little awkward. Overall, I had a good experience and would definitely come back to explore more of the menu, especially with another order of that amazing twice baked loaded potato.

You know how hard it is with a toddler and baby. But we also know the importance of bringing them. We were super excited to have an unbelievable steak dining experience. We were in Carmel for two nights and we researched this place to eat at. Upon arriving with our party of 6 everything was smooth. We put our order in and then what felt like over 90 minutes we were asked if we wanted our daughter's burger to come out first. Which we did. After some time there. The A5 Wagyu came out. The stone plate was pretty cool. As a matter of fact, our 3 year old had her first tasting experience with the A5. She absolutely loved it. And so did we! The actual timeline was sit down reservation at 6:15 and first A5 Wagyu to come out was 40 minutes later. Then a total of 90 minutes before our entrees came out. That was the time stamp on our food pics. Finally our order came out which was a porterhouse we ordered to split for two. It had the spinalus, and all the yummy with it! It was incredible. My friend ordered just the spinalus and said it was the best steak he's ever had. The food was definitely A+. What happened next brought the experience down to a 3 star. We paid for our deposit through the chase reserve portal using Tock prior to arriving for dinner. We opted to utilize our points since we saved way more by doing that. We paid a $300 deposit worth points. So in essence we should've received a bill with a minus $300 on it. When we received the bill, it did not have the $300 off from it. So I asked about it and they said they would take care of it. After a very long time, they came back and said they're trying to take care of it. After more time, one of the servers said to me, if I can pay the full price on the receipt and I will receive a refund in a couple of days. So we did. We didn't want to wait any longer. A couple of days later I sent an email and the owner responded with an email from that night that he was taking care of the situation. Apparently, Tock reservations that do not opt to accept points and cash deposits will have a hard time. And since Saltcraft accepts Tock reservations with only cash deposits, I was SOL. A couple days later I was refunded the points back to my account. The food was off the charts! We had a great time devouring the yummy in all those steaks! The servers and people taking care of us were super nice and seemed to care about our experience. Overall, we felt they could've addressed at the end with the time of order till the food came out with apologies. But there was no apologies. They just brought out the food. Then the amount of time not understanding what was going on with the bill. That could've been addressed. After writing an email to the owner, he apologized that their service wasn't timely. "I'm sorry that our leisurely service style for the meal and the lead time for our steak process wasn't a good fit for your family." That was his quote. We wish them good luck and no ill. Things happen and hopefully we all get better from it.

They're seared with duck fat which gives it a great buttery taste, allowing you to taste the fatty flavor on cuts of meat that aren't the most fatty. The fries that go with each steak dish are also really good and go with the steaks. We had the cowgirl ribeye and spinellis steak. They were both good, I personally preferred the cowgirl ribeye since it had more fat. For the other portions of the meal, I really liked the sourdough bread they gave us. It tastes freshly made. The mushroom side that we ordered my husband really liked, but it wasn't my taste since it was a bit oily. The toffee bread pudding we didn't really like-it was too sweet, very small, and not very well presented. The cocktails we had were stellar. We had the paper plane, Rio de Janeiro, and Thai boxer. My favorite was the Rio de Janeiro; I was watching it being made and they squeeze fresh oranges into the drink. It was a good combination of orange juice and cream. The Thai boxer was good, although I did think it was a bit watery. The service was great and we had a lot of good recommendations from the staff. The restaurant had good ambiance and visually pleasing interior design. It's located in a shopping plaza with easily accessible parking as well. Note-if you come for your birthday or special occasion, they don't do anything extra like a dessert.

If you're an Amex Platinum cardholder looking to burn Resy credits in Monterey, this Mexican restaurant is worth a try -- but manage your expectations. We had a reservation and were seated right away, which was a plus. Started with chips and guac and a couple of drinks, then ordered the chicken enchiladas and the skirt steak and arugula salad, adding shrimp to the salad. The food was fine, the atmosphere was fine, the service was fine -- nothing memorable, nothing bad. The real issue is price. Adding shrimp to a salad cost about $15, and our total with tip came out to around $140 for two people. For that price point in Monterey, I expected more from the food and overall experience. Would I come back? Probably not at full price. But if you have the Amex Platinum and quarterly Resy dining credits to use, it softens the blow enough to make it worth trying once.
