Was there last Saturday. Generally like this location as pretty clean, good service, and good chefs unlike a couple of other Benihana's in Florida. Chef Juan was very good as was "Big John" a few months ago. Two drawbacks - the cold sake bottles are not really cold at all; and particularly bad was how our server Eimy handled, or actually mishandled our leftovers. She basically just dumped the remaining fried rice, chateaubriand steaks, and vegetables all mixed and piled up into the container at once. For this would've much prefered getting the container and doing it myself. Besides not wanting a scrambled mess, really just bad form altogether. read more

Right to the point. View is great, chef was good, and our waitress was great. Food didn't taste good because it had old oil taste to everything we had. Our first Benihana experience took place in Key West. Seating at the famed hibachi tables had a two-hour wait so since the weather was beautiful, we thought we would sit outside facing the water. Our server, Matt, was welcoming and offered recommendations. I had the tasty Spicy Hibachi shrimp while my daughter opted for the Shrimp Yakisoba. Edgar was such a great chef and was truly a gem there. The food was so good and he made wonderful hot dipping sauce just for me, creative! We have been to many Benihana locations and could say this is the very best, what a wonderful & unexpected tastes!!! The server needed more training but the manager was on point. Food was delicious because of our chef Juan. The ambiance was impacted by the wait. Our dinner was *definitely*** island time. 2 hours for a standard 8 person hibachi. Our party was of 2 ppl. We were waiting the majority of the 2hours: That's *never* been the case anywhere in the regular US. Perhaps Key West is on island time for real, lol. I hope a manager or franchise owner sees this and looks to fix this. Our server didn't alert me that my soda water would be a $4 charge. Again, in no other club or restaurant has club soda been charged the same as soda. Also, to swap out the onion soup for miso is *not* an up charge -- it's an additional $6 charge, although the price difference on the menu is about $0.60. Pricing and timing aside -- the food and general experience was very delicious. The management needs to do a better job of aligning the staff with communicating pricing to the customer. (FWIW - The women's bathroom was pretty standard. Not extravagant but not subpar.) read more

Staff were very friendly. From the entrance the Host welcomed us and we could sit at the bar take one drink while waiting for our table. Our server were very friendly and super attend. This chain never disappoints! If you are looking for a safe option for quality food at a good price then look no further. Your experience is always heightened by the personality of your table side chef, and luckily for me on this visit he proved to be a few joints short of a good Dave Chapelle episode. Very entertaining! As far as my food went, and that it did...right into my stomach, everything tasted pretty spot on. I would have added some more salt and black pepper to the cooking process but I guess they really a lot on that garlic butter paste thing they add they everything under the sun. My shrimp and scallops we a little bland, but when I added some spices, it turned out to be just fine. Overall great dining experience and would highly recommend giving any one of their locations a try! I left full, content and ready for bed! read more

The four of us were tired of fish/seafood and Benihana's was walking distance to our resort, so reservations were made. Yes it's touristy, but not all places frequented by tourists have great staff. I am here to say that our server, Camille was perfect. She was helpful and attentive and most of all friendly. She is a gem. And our Chef, Juan, was a hoot, or as he said, Juan in a million. So, we really wanted to believe the hype. The only thing that was hype was our bill. Our "chef" failed to acknowledge my husband's birthday, and was not very interactive. For 89.00, he could at least throw a grain of rice in my mouth. The process itself of preparing our meal was confusing. The vegetables were cooked separately, as in the onions arriving last. The portions were small. Like, Thumbelina small. I could've gotten full at Sam's Club. The shrimp had so much pepper it looked like a Dalmatian. The chicken portion was equivalent to two chicken McNuggets. I had a small baby with me, and our hostess had the audacity to say, "Oh you're going to let mommy and daddy enjoy their meal right?" I would like to say one that Iam a local and this was my first time coming to this establishment and the last. The waiter was not attentive at all I had to tell her multiple times to bring the soup or drink items I ordered while the others at the table were served. The people next to us was not fond of color so they were rude thus making everyone uncomfortable. After bringing the issue to the manager he stated that for next time just let him know. That doesn't change that facts of your establishment not being attentive accommodating and down right nasty. And not to mention after getting home I was sick from the food. In the past Benihana Key West was always a great place to go. They have a wonderful view making it a very pleasant place to share a meal. The food has always been pretty good, along with the service. The cooks have always done a good job and made it all a fun experience. Last night I was with a group of friends celebrating a birthday. We were put in a private dungeon of a room that I never realized existed. It was horrible... That was just the beginning. the food was awful. the cook was inexperienced, burning up the grill 2 times. we all got facials... when the bill came I was surprised to see that they wanted two tips of 20% plus... our bill for me and my husband $9.00 for two iced teas, Shrimp Tempura appetizer $14.60, we each had a $54.00 entree and they charged $6.40 per order of chicken fried rice. usually the rice is so good my husband will order 2 to take home with leftovers. so our bill came to 153.62 and we gave 24% tip. only one tip.... $34.30. I refuse to give two tips... If the food was served in a timely matter so the food was not cold and flavorless I would have been happy with the bill as we paid. minus the second tip as I said before. six people were at our table. so they were looking for $90.00 tip from table for cook and $90.00 for the person serving our drinks. what a joke... We actually think we will sit here rather than the hibachi tables in warmer places like like Key West. The food was great and my wife liked her drink. We had a great time. Actually the "duds" at our table spent the whole time on their phones Paco was quite skilled and our steak, as well as salmon was cooked to perfection. Kiera, who welcomed us and served our drinks, soup and salad had only been there a week and was so nice and efficient. She filled our tea glasses three times! She had a great smile and made a great team with Paco. Justine accompanied Tiera as the senior server and was also very attentive to detail. Lots of food and a big flashy show? This is the best place to go to for that. The portion is big enough for two meals. The only thing I would say is think about what you order. We all thought we get the 5 course meal, but we never got the dessert or the tea. The price here is high, but it is kind of worth it...the only thing I hate about this place is that they already added tip to our bill. I was ok with the 18% tip but I thought they deserved more. Since they already put 18% I felt like they already set their standard. I ordered one of the seafood meal. I don't remember the name but it had Scallops, king shrimp, and lobster tail. I added fried rice for extra cost. The food was delicious. The waiter we had was super funny. He was easy to joke around with and super friendly. Our chef was also nice. He did a great show for us, even though it's kinda hard to compete with the chef next to him. But this chef did inform us that this was his second day, but the things he was doing on this second day, we were all impressed. Great atmosphere, nice service/show and decent food. The entire experience was just okay. I was actually really disappointed. The service was slow and disorganized. Which is surprising for establishments like these. If you e been in a hibachi type place you know they have their typical routine. Drinks, apps, soup, salad then order your meal. But in this case our apps cakes out while they were already cooking our meals and our soup and salad was sent to another table. My hibachi was bland. I had to add so much "yummy yummy" sauce to add some flavor. The Ahi Tuna was good. If you're ever in Key West...I would venture elsewhere. read more

You order your food and then they confirm your order and say "fried rice?" You think you're just confirming what you ordered. The fact that the fried rice is an upsell is never mentioned until the meal is over and it's an extra on your bill. Left with a really negative opinion of the restaurant because of this. read more
