I also ordered a $7.50 onion soup. It came in a small container, why not the salad container? Soup was a rip off, don't order it. Burritos were good but it needs veggies inside. Had a reservation. Showed up 5 minutes early. Was told it would take 20 minutes to be seated. I was confused, then was told they only had 2 chefs available and were otherwise short staffed. I expected a wait because of it. Our food was pretty good but not great. I didn't finish my food and had food for tomorrow, so that is a plus. I feel like the amount of food for the price was not a value. My child's kids' meal appeared that it was the same size as mine. Our server was kind and really apologetic for our long wait time, and he provided updates. I was able to use my birthday certificate. It is only able to be used Monday- Thursday. Meal was good last year I went the food was too salty. They also emailed me an extra reward but I forgot to redeem the free appetizer but there was so much food even had leftovers so that's ok. Brother also redeemed a birthday reward they let me use two rewards including birthday one so my sisters meal was mostly taken care of as well. My sister was upset because I showed up 25 minutes later while they waited but we got seated immediately after I arrived. That did not affect how I felt about the service I received or experience. The server I had to show her the hibiscus teas were unlimited refills and she was nice about the service I think I had 4-5 tea refills. The food was flavorful good butter amount added and chicken was good and the noodles. Not too salty this time. After the first time I tried it I was skeptical of coming back knowing how salty the food was seasoned the first visit here. Also got birthday ice cream and the staff took our photo for our birthday my brother and I each received a framed photo which was very nice of them, good memorable experience and our Chef was also very friendly and clean/ hygienic about the hot plate. This place definitely turned my 14yr birthday night into a disaster! The 2 stars are literally only for Ron & our waitress, which i forgot her name, who was our cook! I would give them 5 stars, but i don't want that to be reflected of this establishment! It took way too long for us to be seated, then even longer for a chef to come to us. The reservation was at 730, and we did not leave this place til around midnight! Food was cooked perfectly, but wasn't finished til about 11, so we literally had to go from stove to togo boxes and when it was time to pay the bill, the machines clocked out while we were paying our last, out of 3, bill! I guess the manager believed it was an us thing and not a their system thing! We knew it was a system thing, because when the person who paid bill #2 offered to pay bill #3 it was also declining with "no reason provided"! after having us input our pin 4 too many times, it then sent my account into fraud alert, in the middle of the night! Because of my card goin into crazy lockdown, the only solution was then to just go pull cash out the atm, because there system was not gonna get back to workin anytime soon. For this inconvenience... Our experience at Benihana was extremely disappointing. We were in the restaurant for 4 hours, and it took 2.5 hours just for the chef to come out. That wait time is completely unacceptable, especially for a restaurant that is known for its dining experience. There were only two cooks in the entire restaurant, which caused massive delays and showed very poor management and staffing decisions. While Chef Isaiah did a good job once he finally arrived, the overall customer service was terrible from start to finish. To make matters worse, my to-go order was incorrect. I did not receive the onion soup or salad that should have been included -- I only received the entrée. This visit was frustrating and not worth the time or money. Should have checked the rating before we went because they lived up to the bad rating. Got seated 30 minutes past our reservation. Took forever to take our order and told us multiple times they are short staffed. Prices on average are $50 a plate and the vegetables were one onion shared by 9 people, everyone got a sliver of zucchini and the steak and mushrooms had no mushrooms. As we talked to people after our experience they all agreed that the last time they went to Benihana was the absolutely the last time. When we got there on time we were told it would be 20 minutes until we could be seated - this was after the hostesses just looked at us blankly for a few minutes. 20 minutes later - and 10 hungry boys were told they didn't know when we would be seated and that a group of six was ahead of us. They could not tell us when to expect a table "we can't control how long people stay". We had this birthday planned for weeks - we were so disappointed. I've always appreciated the gesture from companies that offer these promotions, but until Veteran's Day 2025, I had never participated. This year, I decided to give it a try and have an early dinner at Benihana. Before going, I called ahead to confirm the details of their Veteran's Day promotion. I was told there was a specific dollar amount that represented the maximum value of the offer. Everything seemed clear and straightforward. Unfortunately, what followed was an epic disappointment. Because their mom was out of town, my kids were with me that evening. I planned to take them to dinner before heading to a business networking event I was hosting later. With nearly two hours to spare and only a ten-minute drive to the venue, I thought my timing was perfect. I chose to sit in the bar area, thinking service would be quicker. Big mistake. Fifteen minutes passed before anyone even approached our table. The staff walked by repeatedly, pointing and gesturing, but no one stopped to take our drink order--nothing. When our server finally arrived, we placed our orders, and things began to move... slowly. The sushi came out one roll at a time, which was unusual but manageable. However, one of our items never arrived at all. By the time we finished, every extra minute I'd planned for was gone, and we were now late for my event. To make matters worse, when the check came, the discount applied was barely one-third of what I had been told over the phone. The server explained that I hadn't ordered the "correct" menu items to receive the full promotion value. At that point, I didn't have time to argue--I simply paid the bill, gathered my kids, and left. That experience sealed the deal for me. This was the worst dining experience I have ever had, and the prices are not worth the experience. Despite having a reservation, we waited over 30 minutes to be seated. Once seated, it took another 20 minutes for a server to take our drink orders, another 20 minutes to place our food order, and an additional 20 minutes just to receive soup and salad. While the food itself tasted good and the chef was entertaining, the overall experience was overshadowed by a serious issue at our table. One guest ordered a mushroom-free meal and clearly stated she had a mushroom allergy. Despite reminding the chef, mushrooms were still cooked on the grill in front of her. As a result, the only thing she could safely eat was the rice. She had to sit and watch the rest of us eat while her meal was re-cooked in the back, which was extremely uncomfortable and disappointing. If i could give this place zero stars i would. My pick up order was supposed to be ready at 7:06. It is currently 7:41 and I am still waiting for my order. I came in at 6:50 to check in. No one at the front desk. When I finally track someone down, they tell me that they're waiting for one more item. That was at 7:08. Five minutes later, no one is at front desk. At 7:15 I have to flag down a worker to ask him where my order is. He wanders off and never returns with an update. At 7:40 i finally head to the bar to ask where my order is as no one returns to the front. Several people are waiting. The manager tells me they need another 5-10 minutes. At 7:50 someone finally fesses up that they hadn't printed my order right while giggling. The lack of customer service at a place this expensive is baffling. Would not recommend coming here for pick up unless you enjoy being treated like an afterthought. I haven't tried the food so I can't comment on it, if I ever receive it. I cannot speak on the Ambiance of the restraunt as I ordered for delivery. The fried rice was great as expected, the mushroom soup was very watered down and almost had a soap taste too it is the best way to describe it. Also ordered the steak for 2, requested medium rare and got well done, got the PAN FRIED PORK GYOZA DUMPLINGS and they were all burnt. Benihana is just not what it used to be. When you walk in, you immediately notice bare walls, so it lacks ambience. The chef at our table was relatively new, so even though he seemed nice, the "show" experience was lacking and it took longer for him to prepare the food. They have cut down drastically on the portion sizes, while continuing to raise prices. Two people at our table ordered chicken. The chef prepared one chicken breast and gave each person half. The vegetable portions were maybe a third of what they used to serve. Two adult diners can expect to pay around $100 or more. At one time this was a go-to place for a great upscale dinner, now it seems like the only customers there, are those redeeming free birthday coupons. Just saying that for the prices they charge, you can do much, much better in the Cleveland area. read more
