Our boys are big fans of AYCE Sushi and Japanese food, and we were looking for a new spot to try…read morethat wasnt the normal Eagan spot, and the many times driving 494 seeing Samarui was often seen and never tried but no more after stopping off on a weekend midday. The lobby was sizable and inviting with a claw machine we couldnt resist trying while we waiting for a table to free up (It's 2 token per play, $1 a token - the claw is loose on the sensitivity so use some strategy). Once seated, perusing the lunch menu (after ordering the special electric lemonaid) the base selection was typical of other spots but the specialty hot stone Waygu and oysters for 4 (8x oysters, and 2x orders of 4 pieces of Waygu) was a big hit, alongside of the crispy wings, the tasty gyoza, the very garlic house salad, and the delightful crab puff pls Edamame to start. From the Lo Mein for the misses, to the BBQ Eel Fried Rice for my and my oldest, to the specialty YumYum Roll and Spicy Girl Roll, to my youngest's favorite Rainbow Roll and Eel Avocado Roll there was plenty to come back - along some of the other Regular Rolls. And I couldnt leave without my favorite red bean and green tea ice creams! Certainly a favorite at $20 for lunch from the family - can't wait to return!

For the weekday AYCE lunch, you cant beat the price for $20 (California could never! LOL)…read more Theres a good variety to choose from and portions are big. Service is good and always checked on us to see if we wanted to order more. Its also a hibachi place so half the restaurant is for the teppenyaki area and the other half is for the other stuff.

The service was also good (4/5). The hibachi chef did a great job of making it entertaining and fun, and the waitress did a good job of checking in and keeping our drinks filled. The restaurant has a nice ambiance (4.5/5) with a small bridge over a koi pond as you walk in. It is pretty dark inside, which seems to further focus your attention on the hibachi chef.

Came with a party of eight, with reservations, for a family birthday hibachi dinner. We were seated…read moreright away but wasn't tended to for a long time. Our server was aloof and nothing to write home about. The hibachi chef was tending to three tables and we waited until he finished cooking for two tables before coming to ours. What an absolute lackluster experience! Having been to several hibachi style restaurants, this experience was by far the worst. Not only was our chef not engaging whatsoever, the only performative value of the entire cooking experience was putting a flammable on the grill and having the fire go. There were no tricks, no onion volcanoes, no creative knife work or fun. We ordered quite a variety of hibachi...filet mignon, chicken, lobster and scallops. The meat was cooked fine, but the noodles and rice were no bueno. The veggies were good. They provided large vats of yumyum sauce, which should've been a warning. We ordered the sushi love boat and it was good. The sliced lemons soaked into the sashimi and ruined the natural flavor. The ginger had a rancid flavor. One person in my party ordered chicken fried rice as her entree. It literally came out AFTER all of our leftovers had been boxed. Zero apologies or accountability from the staff. Keep in mind, we were there on a cold Wednesday night WITH reservations. I won't return to Shogun and am bummed about that.

Stopped by here over Labor Day weekend and man... was it good. It's sushi, so prepare your wallet -…read moreit's very expensive. But what restaurant isn't nowadays? The whole ambience and vibe of the restaurant is really nice. Granted, we were the only people there at the time, but it's still a really cozy and relaxing atmosphere in my opinion. The waitress that helped us was more than kind as well. Very nice, great service. The only thing I wish they would've asked is if we wanted the bill split, they just brought it to both of us. I was with my sister so we had to split it later. We didn't want to inconvenience them so we just paid the full bill. The BBQ pork bun was absolutely amazing. For only $5.50, I would recommend getting it as an appetizer. It's a fairly decent size too so you could split it with at least one other person. Or, you could have the whole thing to yourself!!! I'll probably get one just for me next time. I liked the chicken satay skewers. Those are really good. But, I was expecting more than just two small chicken skewers for the cost. Really good flavor though. Then we got sushi rolls. They were all fantastic. I remember I got the Ooka Roll. It's the most expensive role on the menu, but it's fantastic. I think we also got the 150th roll. Also fantastic. Overall, I really recommend this place if you want some sushi. Just be prepared to pay a lot of money. If you need a cheaper option, there are other sushi places that are a bit cheaper close by. But these guys are very good and I will be back. I would rate 4.5 out of 5 stars, but Yelp only lets me do full stars - so I'm bumping it up to a 5. I'm excited to try their hibachi when we go back, and more sushi.
