I can't begin to write about the worst experience. Not only was I offered my steamed rice at the end of my meal and a 2nd glass of water. But the waiter, did not come check on our table of 6 not even once besides bringing our soup late, our salad late. We had 2 pregnant soon to be mothers and spent thirsty for most of the dinner. The cook, was good but he did over salt our food. As a consolidation price, we got $3 dlrs off for the worst bday celebration. Definitely would not recommend this location. For being a Tuesday, it was not busy For the waiter not to check if we needed refills or we got out food. read more

Pedro our chef was great! Our server was the worst I've ever had. That's all I have to say.

We have been to multiple iterations of the hibachi grill concept throughout the Twin Cities. Each one I feel has their own strengths and weaknesses. One of Benihana's greatest strengths is their generous birthday club deals. You basically get $30 to spend on your bill during your birthday month, it is pretty awesome. The closest Benihana that I live by is the location in Mall of America. I'm not sure if that makes it better or worse. We went on a Monday night so it wasn't too busy around the dinner hour. Staff were prompt and very courteous and we were seated right when we arrived. Our hibachi grill cook was nice and put on a little show for us. The show was much shorter and with less gimmicks than at other hibachi grills we have been to. No onion volcano, no saki bottles, no corny jokes, basically nothing too crazy. If you are looking for more entertainment, this might not be the best place to go to. Although, if you rather eat sooner than be entertained, Benihana might be your place of choice. Different strokes for different folks! The food was very good. I ordered the teriyaki sirloin and colossal shrimp combo and my wife ordered the scallops. The sirloin was very tender the the sauce was very flavorful. My wife's scallops had great flavor and where very fresh. Each hibachi entree comes with white rice, onion soup, salad, hibachi shrimp, and ice cream for dessert. I was supposed to get green tea as well but never saw it. Although I won't complain since we got an extra dish of ice cream for my wife instead. The birthday bucks really helps drive down the price so this hibachi grill is really affordable for anyone. It helps Benihana beat the competition out when it comes to price. read more

Love the staff and the Managers are always on point. Best place to visit in the Mall.

I had really missed visiting this place during the pandemic so, as I had to be in the MOA yesterday, I made sure to make a reservation. I got there a little early, and they were very accommodating and got us in early. They enforced masks and 6 feet distancing, hand sanitizer was available. Even with following these guidelines, it felt just like my previous visits. Our server was friendly and helpful, our chef was talented and fun. He got everyone's order right (total of 6 at our table, 3 sets of two, all distanced). A couple of special requests at our table were met with "absolutely!", and they fully satisfied the requests. The food and service were perfect. Their care to ensure health safety was exemplary. I can't wait to go back. read more

It seems once you've been to one hibachi teppan yaki type grill you've sort of been to them all. It has been a long time since I've been to the Benihana chain so I thought it would be an interesting revisit. The food is very similar to many other grills except the food overall a little lighter and less greasy. Since they do sushi you can add sushi and cocktails etc as well vs just what is on the teppan yaki menu. Server was attentive and overall polite. Our cook did a nice job and had a few surprises beyond the typical onion train and shrimp tosses - just be ready for any safe but sometimes startling surprises up his sleeve. Everything was great but since it's a group dinner it can feel a little impersonal since you take your order in groups and get served in groups. The only dish that was just ok was the onion broth soup. I would've preferred miso but it's nice option if you're craving this type of food read more

Took our family of 4 to the MOA location. It cost us $255 for 4 regular dinners and 4 waters. We didn't have any drinks or extras at all. They now charge extra for chicken fried rice and you have to pay for ice cream, which when we went in the past was included. $60 of the bill was taxes and a mandatory 20% service charge. We were seated with another family who wanted gluten free meals so they made all of their meals first and then made ours, so dinner took a long time and we had to sit and watch them eat for a long time. It was weird. Our waitress never came back after taking our order to refill waters or check in other then to drop off the check. The food was fine but definitely not worth the price. We won't be back. read more

The food was absolutely outstanding! Best Benihana experience I've had, and I've been to quite a few across the country. Steak and scallops were perfectly cooked how we ordered, and the soup and salad was delicious. The chef's "show" was by far the best I've seen! He actually was flipping the rice bowls on his spatula! I gave it 4 stars because the server didn't greet us for 10 minutes after we were sat, even though they walked by many times. When they did come over, they really seemed rushed, didn't care, and kind of had an arrogant "I don't care" attitude, for some reason. The bar did not have hardly any beers (we had a choice between only Bud Light and Stella), and did not have any of the "signature drinks" listed on the menu. read more

I was a little caught off guard that the bill would be $325 for myself and 4 girls. When I tried asking the managers about it, it turns out that I did indeed misread the wine pricing on the menu which I was then fine with (I would have bought the bottle rather than pay $45 for 2 glasses of wine). I was also surprised to find out that fried rice is a $5.60pp upcharge, typically it is $2-3, for a few veggies and eggs so this seems excessive. When I asked to see that charge on the menu, I was told it wasn't printed on the menu. I was told it was for the chicken (this was veggie fried rice and the rice which I had to politely remind him steamed rice has rice. I was also told by the server that he only receives 6% of the 20% service charge - what is this for then???? The server asked if I wanted kids' meals for the girls and I said yes. (2) were charged for kid's steak hibachi (which at @22.70 makes fried rice a 25% upcharge). One guest wanted noodles, fried rice and soup. She saw the Yakisoba on the menu and was told she had to pick a protein. She doesn't really care for meat so I said fine I would take her shrimp. So, I was charged $36.80 (with the rice upcharge) for what I imagine would've been far less expensive as 3 sides. The fourth guest who also ordered a kid's meal was charged for an adult meal. When I went back the next morning to point out the error I was told an adult portion was prepared and served so that is what I had to pay for regardless of what I ordered, I went back a 3rd time to try and pay for the filet mignon that was served to me by mistake - the woman next to me in the other party had ordered it, I was told they wouldn't charge me. I stated that I don't understand the policy that I pay for some of your mistakes and not others, the manger told me "to just leave". The management team was quite rude, which then didn't help my behavior. I shook the man's hand Saturday night, looked him in the eye and let him know I will NEVER go to another Benihana again in my life - which I stand behind. The outrageous charges and fees and being told to pay an additional $15 for something I didn't order is quite possibly the WORST customer service EVER. I spent my high school and college years working as a waitress and bartender, so I am not new to the industry. read more

The only reason I am giving them a 2 and not a 1 is because the chef was amazing. Things to know before you dine. 1. You won't be seated until your whole party is there. (This DID NOT BOTHER ME) 2. They have to push out cold air in order to run the grill. Bring a sweatshirt or jacket because it is cold. 3. A 20% service charge is applied at the end of your bill. We tipped a little more but this new service charge is a little ridiculous. Especially if a portion doesn't go to the server. Now for my review- The cold air I mentioned before...yeah when the other guests at the table asked about this the server said "Yeah we have been having issues with this one. This is the coldest table in the restaurant- Those guest left after that. I should add there were other open tables when we were originally seated that we could have been placed at. 2. The server. As a former server I get it. Long hours on your feet all while trying to deal with "Karen's or Kyle's" (I'm not a Karen by the way) is challenging. I get it! But the server clearly didn't want to be there. My husband after all the waiting and cold didn't want to be there either (He can kinda be a Kyle!) Our server was also training that night and my problem with this (as a former server) is that he very stale. Wasn't very attentive and if you are training a new server you need to train at least the importance of being attentive. Perhaps he had had a bad day- but I wasn't impressed. The chef however was amazing! He cooked the shrimp and steak perfectly and even made a special message for my daughter with the rice. I probably won't go back for dinning in but I may get the chicken fried rice and yum yum sauce to go...because let's be honest that's the the real reason we are all there. read more

My family absolutely loves Benihana's, however our experience last night was absolutely terrible and will change how often we return...if we return. We had reservations and a chef didn't arrive to our table until 1.5 hours after we were seated. The server screwed up our order and the family's order next to us. Rice was never cooked and we had to ask for it even though we should have gotten it with our meals. Once it was delivered, it was cold. We never had water or drink refills. The chef also hadn't performed a show. At the end, the 20% service fee was mentioned. This was very confusing and when we got the check, there was no option to add a tip even though the server said the service fee was not a tip. From what I gather, as a patron, I need to pay a lot more for what is a lot less quality. read more

Let me start out by saying it was quickly on schedule to be a 1 star review. We show up 15 min before our reservation time, only to be rudely told we'd be seated at 8 or after. Cool. I just wanted to check in, text me whenever. Well no text came through. I came back at 8:10 only to be told oh she placed you, whatever that means. So we go to the table. The two chairs had enough room for 2 small children, not 2 grown men. So I asked to just be sat in the dining room. Jaime recognized me from the host stand, when we were seated in her section. She said I'll get you to a grill. I said no please you're the only one with a brain here. She then proceeded to take great care of us. The food is typical hibachi, but Jaime's service and problem solving is 5 star worthy! read more

Dined here on a Friday afternoon at 3pm and there were 3 other tables of two to three, so it wasn't busy, but service was horrible. We were served room temperature water that had been sitting out along with other batches of water, which is fine, but questionable and odd. Next, it took 35-40 minutes for our food to come out with no check in from the server or manager in this time frame. Our 3 sushi entrees came out before our 2 appetizers and when we asked about it, the server had an annoyed tone, unapologetic about the wait. Soy sauce was not provided. After we asking, we had to get our own ramekins as that was also not automatically a given considering we ordered sushi. When our appetizers finally came out, they were overcooked with the edamame shell mushy and crumbling. Throughout this experience our server was wearing gloves, going to tables, the kitchen, and bartender stand handling drinks/garnishes which honestly just looks gross and unhygienic. At one point she's going around with it ripped, which just brings up the question of how often they're getting changed/washed. We also saw multiple managers (presumably, as they were dressed up) standing around at the host stand not assisting whatsoever (checking in, running food). At the end, we were handed the bill and there was an automatic 20% "service change" applied. If that's the case, the bare minimum of work (cleanliness and food accompaniments) with the very slightest positive attitude should be an expectation on the establishment. read more

Great food. I tried the hibachi chicken. Wonderful flavors - lemon and butter seasoning, yum! There was a mouse in the house. Just one. He was super cute! read more

I should have followed my gut. We decided on a last minute stop. 15 min wait with no reservation for hibachi at 430 on a Friday, starting out great! We sit and read other reviews, all recent ones are not good, maybe we should leave? Our group of four decided to stay. Bathroom stop-gross. Should have left. After being seated our first waiter offers water and I order a drink. He returns with water then decides our table is not his, so he SITS at the table across from us with two guests and flirts with them a while. No drink. New waitress is great, highlight of the meal. Out of the house sake I ordered. No big deal. Chef breaks the first egg-sending raw egg onto the plate of my friend. Does not offer to take her plate and replace it. We have that on video. Then when he is seasoning, some of the other food, he sprays me with soy sauce which left me with splatters across my shirt, face, chest, and my glasses. No apology for that. Twice while cleaning the grill while cooking some of the grease and food, reminants fly onto our plates. The food was cooked in a really bizarre order, with my scallops being pushed around for a good 15 minutes and then coming off like little rubber balls, and the chicken might as well have been shoe leather. The salad dressing was so sour. almost inedible, and we love ginger dressing, but this one doesn't cut it. We've had better experiences at other hibachi restaurants and will continue to patronize those in the future. We won't be back to this one. read more

Excellent service by Miguel! Food was delicious! Hibachi shrimp with fried rice is exceptional!

The food was excellent! My daughter had a great birthday! Alejandro & Derrick were awesome! I highly recommend for celebrations!

This particular Benihana's was not that good, the service was ok, the cook did a nice job but the food was just meh....the famous fried rice was very bland. We were there for my daughters 12th bday and they didn't even sing happy Bday and they didn't even have a candle for her bday dessert.... Very subpar. read more

Do NOT recommend, poor customer service. Very rude manager and staff. Disorganization throughout the entire restaurant. Received cold food after asking for our order multiple times. I will never go back to that location. Had many times before at other locations. read more

A hard pass. I made a reservation for my birthday. Reservation was for 8pm. They even called me earlier in the day to confirm for 8pm. I was there and ready at 7:45. I was told they wouldn't be able to seat us until 8:30. That's just sitting down, not eating. That on top of a notice that says something about 20% charge on the bill and I guess that doesn't even go to the server. I just went to another restaurant in Edina. Got seated promptly, great service and half the price. So, out for a special event, just pass on this spot. I know I did. read more
