Unfortunately I missed the half price offer but, having travelled right across Rothwell I decided I would (gulp) pay the full price (less 10% on collection). I scanned the menu but as i did so I overheard one of the staff saying there was a long wait. Long wait indeed! on asking I was told that it was about one and a half hours which was clearly to long for a hungry boy like me. Apparently they are taking orders and ringing the customer when it's ready which is a reasonable plan but doesn't work for a quick fix addict like me. I will try Rothwell Tandoori but only when I am able to plan my dining in advance.

There is plenty of choice on the menu,…read moreand many of their standard dishes are available with a selection of different meats, or a vegetarian option. That being said, the real quality on the menu is in the signature and specials sections. If you love your curry, but are interested in experiencing something a little different from the bog standard UK curry dishes (Korma, Balti, Tikka Masala etc), then there is plenty of joy to be had, including some Bangladeshi dishes that you don't often see at the local curry house. We have only ever ordered from these guys through JustEat, so have no real experience of their face to face customer service, but the delivery men have been friendly, and well prepared with change when paying in cash. The only slight downside that we have experienced is in the length of time required for an order to be delivered, but this is probably a consequence of the menu variety rather than anything else. I'd rather wait longer for a meal to be properly cooked, than have a quick delivery of a reheated pot that was made the day before. It is also worth noting that the delivery estimates have always been pretty spot on, so any waiting time was at least expected.

The rest of the family really enjoyed the meal even my picky father who wont eat anything that has been anywhere near an onion. The staff were great and very attentive. The people running the place are very friendly and attentive. The food is excellent! Some of the best curry I have had in a long time. I ordered the Handi Gosht, and my wife the Chicken Tika Masala. Both were excellent and rich with flavour. Especially the Handi. We also had lamb samosas that were great too. The garlic naan is served on a huge spiked pole! They tailor the spice level to whatever you prefer and are fine with changing it if it's not hot enough. This place is cash or cheque only, and is BYOB. There's a great brew pub across the street where you can buy bottles to go and bring them into the restaurant. Overall a very satisfying experience I would recommend to any curry lover!

Chutney Massala is my favourite Indian takeaway ever; it's in Dukinfield near the Forresters pub…read morebut they delivery within a 3 mile radius like most takeaways. They offer the usually selection of Indian food and also have their own specials. I'm a bit boring when it comes to a curry so tend just to have a Rogan Josh or Khari. I always ask for it to be mild as sometimes they can be quite hot and they are always happy to do that for me. My favourite starters are the Chicken Pakoras and Vegetable Samosas. The Naan breads are really nice and I don't usually like Naan bread but I can quite happily eat these. If you order during the week they do fantastic offers, you can get starters, main course, sundries and a side order for two people for just £16.95, they also do larger deals if there's more than two of you. These are excellent value for money. They only do these offers Sunday Thursday though. We always get our takeaway delivered because we live in Ashton and don't drive, we usually have to wait around 45 minutes but I'm happy with that, I'd rather wait and know it's been cooked properly rather than wait 20 minutes while they bung something in the microwave. I like that because we order from there on a regular basis, they remember your name and when they deliver it they are always very friendly.

Serving up all the usual kinds of dishes you'd expect in an Indian restaurant, they also make some very good alternativ dishes which I havent seen anywhere else - for example, the pineapple curry may sound like its a bit unusual, but try it once and you'll become a convert. Its a relaxed venue, and service is always equally relaxed even if the place is very busy and you never feel like you're being rushed in any way. The service, on the whole is very good - attentive without being too much and the decor is clean and modern. No real reservations about this place. Its good enough to claim your repeat business and we've been back quite a few times over the last few years.

The owner is such a friendly guy, he is not averse to throwing in some freebies if you are a regular there. It's just as good as everyone says! A really nice woman came over to advise us enthusiastically on…read morethe menu and we really enjoyed her recommendations of samosa chaat and 'the sizzler.' The flavours were gorgeous, the samosa's delicate spice perfectly balanced with yoghurt and the rich sweetness of the Manchurian (Indo-Chinese) dumplings and paneer in the sizzler was set off against some more punchy spice. The other ingredient in the sizzler is cassava which is quite heavy after a while and the dish is huge so it is recommended as a sharing starter and is enough for 3 or 4. Although we were basically full by that point we'd ordered some paneer toofani (with cashews) and a masala dosa, both of which were also really nice! I wouldn't hesitate to say this is worth the trip to Ashton, although as the Guardian review colourfully points out this is a cafe and therefore not a fancy date place unless your date only cares about the food being great in which case you are onto a good thing on both counts.
