Used to go to this Brow Bar for many years, but had a horrible experience with Sonia. She messed up my appointment and clearly was her fault. She never apologized and just let another colleague deal with it. Her attitude was terrible - no acknowledgement and it was if she had never known me even though I was going to her for years and would tip her very well. I complained to Macy's management and to my knowledge they did nothing. I have not been back since due to poor customer service. read more

Uber impressed with Kristen and her crew members at the Benefit Counter at Macys. I have had no reason to hit up Macys since I moved moved back to Monterey nearly 3 years ago. I've probably wondered into Macys twice now in the last decade. I now have a reason to visit every six or so weeks. Kristen is a natural and does a good job waxing and tweezing while educating her clients about eyebrows. Suggesting products and tools to help better one's brow, Kristen will literally help open your eyes to the world of brows. They make such a huge difference to your face and frame, you'd be surprised. I've had my brows done by a handful of people in my lifetime but this time it was a fun experience even though it was in the middle of a department store during a crazy one day sale (they were open until 11pm that night - nuts!). The service is $20 or $25 after tip and it was so worth it. My sister and I left with some pretty clean, thick and sexy natural looking brows. I hope I am able to replicate her work with the little brow tool box I purchased (Brow Zings Kit - Medium $30). While I spent time at the counter I watched about 4 others come and have their brows worked on. Ladies in their late 30's to late 60's left with a little skip in their step knowing how hot they looked... well at least their brows. Thanks for the recommendation CelestE! read more

I would suggest booking your appointment in advance, however, if you're willing to wait around the mall they do have walk in times available sometimes. I get my brows waxed by Andria and they come out perfect every time. I like them to be thick and she keeps them that way but also shapes them. Make sure to let them know how you want your brows and they're more than helpful in giving you the brow shape you want. Don't expect a miracle if you don't have any brow hair to begin with though that's what the brow makeup is for. The other girls are pretty good too from the brows I've seen them do on other people when I'm there. I believe they do cash tips only so don't be a cheapass and take out cash beforehand. They do have an ATM close by but it has a service fee so keep that in mind before you go. read more

August 2016 - I stopped in for my birthday brow appointment and left very disappointed. First, the technician Janet was almost 10 minutes late to the appointment because she was "on break". I understand you deserve your breaks, but why is your break at the time of my scheduled appointment? I was on time, and not thrilled to be wasting my lunch break waiting for her break to be over. When she finally got back, she spent less than 10 minutes plucking my brows, no brow mapping, etc. When I got outside, I could see how sloppy of a job she did. There are lots of stray hairs left. I feel like I could have done a better job myself. read more

I got my brows done a few weeks ago. I was a walk in. I'd never done the brow bar before and didn't expect it to be too busy. When I arrived the lady said that they did not have any appointments left for the day (which seemed a bit of a stretch given that it was about noon), but that the next appointment was running late and if they did not show I could be squeezed in. I was happy with this. The girl did show up. There was a discrepancy in what time her appointment was. Regardless she was only 5 minutes late from what they said her appointment time was. They were extremely rude to this girl and told her there was nothing that they could do and that she shouldn't have been late. They were extremely pushy with the products which are tested on animals I have come to find out. And when I went to pay the lady rounded up my amount being paid without my knowledge. Don't do it. Brows looked nice but it turned into a $60 brow trip and made me feel like crap the rest of the day. read more

Sonia just did my brows and they are amazing. I would go to SF to get them done and only trusted one person but Sonia is my new go to. She explained what she was going to do before she waxed and did a great job with precision. She used trimmers, wax and plucked. Amazing job super happy with shape and I had thick brows. Highly recommend her if youre lucky enough to get her because she also manages. read more

I walked in on a week day around noon and was able to have my brows done after waiting about 15 minutes. Michelle was very professional and did a wonderful job on my brows. I had my baby with me, and she was very patient with me, even when I had to stop a couple times to pick up my baby's toys and reassure her. She even wiped my baby's nose for me, and offered me a cotton ball with alcohol to sanitize the sippy cup my baby dropped. She did suggest a couple of products, but was not pushy, and did not mind when I only purchased the cheaper of the two products. The only reason I am giving it four stars instead of five is because the price is a little steep. read more

They messed up my brows the first and last time I went there. I forgot her name but she was rude and didn't have very impressive brows herself which I should of taken as a warning sign when she took like half my brow off in thickness (she also made them shorter). Wouldn't recommend. read more

I always ask for Sonya (or Sonia.. not sure, I'm sorry!) because she's the only one who does my brows exactly how I want them. I normally have a positive experience at this location, but my last brow appointment was horrible and I won't be returning. The skin above my left eyebrow "lifted" and I was left with a permanent scar (it has been 3 months since this appointment). I mentioned during the wax that one strip was particularly painful and the esthetician gave me a cold towel to press on the area. I went to another employee after the wax to have concealer put on (I normally turn pretty pink but it fades in an hour or so) and he gave me one look and said that he didn't feel comfortable applying makeup to the area and gave me 3 packets of antibiotic ointment to apply for the next few days. After two months I contacted the manager Sonia and she told me that it must have been something I did wrong and stated that I had released Benefit from all liability when I signed a form before the wax. I have been getting my brows waxed for 10 years and I had no changes in medication or skin-care before the wax, so her blaming me doesn't make much sense. Also, I didn't realize that signing a form releases the company from making significant errors and causing lasting harm. Sonia offered me a free wax as compensation, but returning to this brow bar is the last thing I want to do. In summary, I am left with a lasting scar and instead of Benefit taking accountability for a mistake, they blamed the customer. read more

I highly recommend going there to get any waxing they offer done. It's a one stop shop too. Get all your shopping in and leave with amazing brows! I am honestly disappointed with the service at this brow bar. I have been coming here for years to purchase make up and get my brows done. A couple weeks ago was my birthday, so I went in to get my free birthday brow wax the day before my birthday. Sounds reasonable right? I was turned away because it wasn't my birthday week. I was told it was Sunday to Sunday. Then called today to ask and it was Saturday through the following Sunday. I am a working woman with limited free time on my hands, I made an appointment and informed the staff what service I was coming in for, and they were aware my birthday was the next day. I am disappointed because I love benefit products and loved having good brows done without having to go far. So I recommend if you want to redeem your birthday brow, find another benefit bar that is willing to work with your schedule and be more understanding of circumstances. read more

I have gone to Sonya at the Benefit Bar to get my brows and chin waxed...(I know, disgusting, but that happens to all of us when we turn 50. Yuck). Anyway, she is great and I always feel like I look at least 5 years younger when I leave. She is funny and kind as well. I think it is really reasonably priced as well. read more
