I wanted something custom which surprisingly most jewelers would not do or really overcharged you for it... Sami helped me design the ring himself! Sami made a rush order wedding band for us so we could get married on time after the first ring we bought (online) left us feeling underwhelmed. I was one month from getting married and my fiance and I went to Manayunk to look for wedding bands. We checked some other places first but they didn't quite feel right, though we were totally ready to settle. Then, fortunately, we walked by Sami's shop (Bendi Jewelers). He immediately began asking about our vision and what qualities we were looking for and, unlike all the other jewelers, he took the time to understand what we were saying. He was engaging and forthright the entire time, completely genuine and unbelievably friendly. We walked out of there feeling like we just met a good neighbor. About 15 years ago I went into Bendi's with my father to purchase an anniversary gift for my mother. He brought out a loose case of pearls and my father selected the ones he wanted and they were strung and purchased for a little less than $10,000. A few years ago my mother went back to see if she could have then appraised, he had no recollection of ever selling them, even though my parents had frequently purchased jewelry from him in the past. My mother took them to two appraisers on Jewelry's Row. The highest appraisal was for $800. This man is a con artist. He also reset my mother's engagement ring and the baguettes on either side of the stone feel out several times. read more

I agree with Mathew K. that this man is a con artist. 4 years ago we went there and got trapped by his "charm" and bought a small inexpensive ring. Then 2 years ago we asked him to make us a simple gold necklace (which didn't turn out as we wanted and he had promised to deliver. He said multiple times that he would make it. But as it turns out, he didn't and he doesn't. We paid over $3,000 for what now seems to be less than 6 grams of gold. Today Gold is about $30 per gram (it was less 3 years ago). And Labor could not have been $3000. Huge mistake on our part for trusting him and not checking prices. Con artist in every sense of the word. Do not buy from him, he will promise the world and won't deliver. read more

Bendi is the best jewelry store I've been to and Sammy is such a great jeweler! I first went in there because I was looking for a gold cross to buy for my Goddaughter's christening. I had checked all of the mall jewelry stores and department stores and just was not finding anything I liked. All I wanted was a simple gold cross that wasn't too gaudy since it was for a baby, but also something that would be timeless for her to grow into. I live in Roxborough and had walked by Bendi a ton of times so I decided I should look in there for a cross. I told Sammy what I was looking for and he didn't have anything in the store that matched, but he had a catalog that he could order from if I saw something I liked. This catalog had everything you could imagine in it. There were probably about 15 pages of just crosses for me to look at. Upon looking in this catalog, I found exactly what I was looking for. Sammy helped me pick out a chain that would go with the cross and showed me examples of similar ones that he had so I could get a better idea of the size and how delicate it was. The cross came in about a week and it was absolutely perfect. It was 14k gold, as well as the chain and they were very reasonably priced. It was a much better quality than anything I saw at the mall jewelry stores and it even cost about the same or less. Sammy also does custom jewelry, which I find to be rare nowadays. My mother had an engagement ring that my father had given her just sitting in a drawer since they are divorced. She wanted me to have the diamond from it so we took it into Sammy to see what he could do with it. We ended up designing a custom necklace using the diamond with Sammy's suggestion. The necklace is absolutely gorgeous. The diamond looks better than ever and is much more wearable for me than a diamond ring. He truly transformed the diamond and gave me a one of a kind piece. I highly recommend going to Bendi if you're looking for quality jewelry or any type of custom design. You will not be disappointed! It's so nice to have an actual jeweler to go to instead of those crappy mall jewelry stores where they try to pressure you to buy low quality jewelry.
