Darius takes his time explaining to me everything he is going to do and when he will do it. He asked us what we wanted and that's what we got. Yes, he had plans drawn up by an architect but came to us to ask about areas we may have wanted to have modified or changed. (Not only is Darius the contractor; he's the new landlord too. He bought the home last year and began renovating it right away.) His crew is 5 stars. These guys really know what they are doing. It's a pleasure just watching them work, they are like a well-oiled machine each one complimenting the others expertise. He put in a stand-up shower with a granite bench along with a separate shower and full-size tub. And of course, he put everything else needed to complete the bathroom. He took down the wall that separated the kitchen and living and turned it into an Open Floor Plan. The kitchen has a granite Island, all stainless steel appliances and a nice deep sink with an excellent faucet. Not to mention the gorgeous cherry wood cabinets and pocket lighting. He added a bedroom and 3 more closets. One bedroom we are using as our office and another as a studio for Trish my girlfriend; she's an award-winning artist (we're in our 15th year, no marriage in the works; we've both been there and done that). We are also using the studio as a music room for me; I'm a pretty good keyboard player. Not only did he do the inside, he added all brand new Anderson windows and vinyl sided the entire house. He redid the parking lot from a great big patch of dirt to a beautiful huge bluestone lot behind the house with, of course, a new driveway to boot. How about 3 patios with a beautiful fence separating two of them that are next to each other. This home also houses two other apartments in it that (could you believe it) he redid as well! We used to have this tiny little cellar. Now it's huge. He and his bulldozer (Bobcat) actually dug a path into my cellar for the Bobcat to come in from and they dug down around two feet and enlarged it by about 300 square feet. The Bobcat actually drove in and out of the basement with loads of dirt digging it out to make the ceiling higher. He put in a laundry room and 3 separate storage rooms; one for each apartment. He converted it from oil to gas and added 3 gas units with 3 hot water heaters. He told us we will never run out of hot water. What else can I say? I'll let the photos do the talking!

Gennaro was nothing but professional and kind in talking through all of my options. He was helpful in getting the soil test results from the Brooklyn College lab very quickly and helping me interpret them. We ended up deciding to remove the native Brooklyn soil that was filled with lead and pouring concrete on top. This task required putting up plastic sheeting to carry out the leaded soil through the building with contaminating the inside space, as there is no street access from the backyard. This was a project that had to be done super quickly, I am so thankful that Gennaro was able to squeeze it in to his busy schedule. The crew was super respectful and worked at warp speed! They left the premises clean and overall it was a job well done. I can't recommend EcoBrooklyn enough. I will definitely be contacting them again for future projects.

That never happened. I have been calling their office daily for the past 4 days and getting the same response "I'll leave your information on his desk" and not getting any response at all. I ultimately canceled my request for a quote. You DON'T want a company like this doing any kind of work for your home. Because if something goes wrong, you will not be able to get any response from them.

They are professional, reliable, and know their stuff. They advised us about the particular challenges plants face high above the ground and suggested suitable plants. They planted golden bamboos; two gorgeous Japanese maples; and teak planters full of of Butterfly bushes, Knockout Roses, Potato Vines and other flowering bushes. They also installed an automatic irrigation system and lighting. For the spring they planted Tulip bulbs. Their monthly maintenance services are top notch. The staff have been consistently terrific to deal with. We are very satisfied and would recommend ADO to anyone. .

I had a very unusual experience with Basic Landscaping. I hired them to plant trees and shrubs on…read moremy property and signed a contract for $53K. When they were done, they charged me additional $2300 for planting extra plants, which was never discussed with me before it was allegedly done. Nevertheless, I paid additional money without saying anything. At the end Basic asked me if I wanted to sign a maintenance contract. I declined because it was very expensive considering the amount of work being proposed, required inclusion of lawn maintenance (I do that myself), and also had language regarding dumping yard waste on my property. The biggest issue I had with Basic was that they planted the wrong trees and refused to replace them. The centerpiece of my landscape design were three trees with bright yellow and red leaves. Basic planted a green leaf variety of the same tree, completely ruining my landscape design intent. When I complained about this, during the warranty period, Basic initially tried blaming me since I did not sign a maintenance contract, probably assuming I was too ignorant to figure out what happened. When that argument did not fly, they tried blaming the plant material supplier, which again had nothing to do with a $53K planting contract I had with Basic. Finaly, after many months of stalling, they said that I complained too late. I understand that sometimes mistakes happen, however I found it unusual that a contractor who made a mistake would aggressively attack me, in writing, and refuse to do anything to correct a problem. Additional to the problems described above, another Basic proposal, to address the lawn flooding issue, had a ridiculous solution - move the water from one end of the lawn to another, and the proposed price was incredibly high considering it involved two guys with shovels for a day.

Hairline sized cracks led to full on chunks breaking off as my fairly newly constructed home settled over the years. My concerns grew about their safety. I hit up Yelp, and requested quotes for the project. James was one of the first to reach out and even when my hectic work schedule made it difficult to chat, James was flexible and began to communicate with me via text. He quoted me a fair price, unlike some of the other contractors. We were set and ready to go until Mother Nature (ie. rainy days) delayed the start of the work. Once it was all clear and sunny days were back on the horizon, the repair work began.
