My fiancée and I scheduled a 1/2 day tour with James early March of 2017 and it was amazing! James…read morebrought us to two fantastic locations, one of which we would never have discovered without his exceptional knowledge of Central Oregon. The weather was dreary, as to be expected in early March, but James taught us how to use our cameras (I just had an iPhone, but he didn't judge me!) to capture the best possible photos in inclement weather. My fiancée was so impressed with what James taught him, that he cancelled his ski trip the next day to go out and take photos with his new skills. We plan on booking a tour with James every season of the year, for many years to come, and we recommend that you folks do too!

There is a personal connection to his images for me since we both grew up in the East Bay and were inspired by childhood visits in the Sierra Nevada. The images remind me most of Elizabeth Carmel based in Truckee, California, whose work also seems to capture nature at its best. One of these days I hope both photographers' images will adorn the walls of my home. His framed images can run to the thousands of dollars, but are available in a variety of sizes, all the way down to greeting cards. If you aren't able to visit the gallery, you can order through his website, or purchase his book of photography, Journey of Light. His gallery will become a place a visit on every trip to Bend.

I've had the opportunity to work with Josh twice now, and I'm completely impressed with the quality…read moreof his work and his professionalism. My husband and I first hired Josh to take a family portrait. Husband and I take a family photo each year on or around our anniversary. In the past we've relied on selfies, our camera's timer, or a friend/neighbor/whoever is around (ie, the server whatever restaurant we're at) to take the photo. This year we decided to treat ourselves to an upgrade and have a professional portrait taken, since we hadn't had professional photos taken since our wedding. We couldn't have been more pleased with the experience! Josh came to our home (Josh helped us chose the location for the shoot...we got married in our backyard so this made perfect sense) and found the perfect setting in front of our house. He shot from a few different angles and even managed to get our dogs to cooperate! Considering that my husband and I are both fairly stiff in front of a camera, Josh managed to make us feel relaxed and comfortable. The second time I worked with Josh was for my professional headshots. Josh and I chatted before the shoot, he wanted to know what sort of professional image I wanted to portray. From there, he translated my "wish list" into reality and captured exactly what I'd envisioned: a softer, outdoor, non-stuffy headshot. While his work speaks for itself, I have no reservations in recommending Josh to anyone/everyone who asks me about the photos he's taken for us.
