Bennette I.

If you're looking for a casual place to watch a game choose Benchwarmers. The place is massive and offers lots of seating and fun zones, it's family friendly with games and billiards and even has video poker for adults. There are TV's everywhere and a large bar. The food is average for a pub style restaurant - it's more a place for atmosphere and lively sports on tv. Our staff was friendly, refilled our drinks and was quick with our order.

This is a solid place for decent food with good prices and lots of TVs for sports. Some of the deals on the menu are crazy cheap like $5. Our server was very personable. The food is about what you'd expect. Serviceable, but nothing special. Ambiance seemed a bit tired, but just fine for a sports bar vibe.

So bad I refused to eat this "T-Bone". Ordered a 2nd one and was even worse. Whatever you do, don't order steaks.

Worst t-bone I've ever had. Over cooked and it isn't a T-bone. Ordered a 2nd one and was even worse. Don't ever order steaks here. Worst steak I've ever had if it is even beef.

Onion rings

I ordered onion rings and the server came back and very politely told me they were out and helped me select something else. Then, when our entrees came she brought along an order of onion rings that the kitchen had made fresh for me from what they had on hand. They were amazing! They were super fresh. I loved the extra step that the whole crew took to make sure I got what I wanted. One downside was the wings were quite cold, but the sauce was great! It was also trivia night, Thursday, and so the energy was great and so was the music.

Wanted to love it, but the chowder was pasty and the beers tasted a little off... Service was great though!

Do not order the taco salad! It's handful of lettuce scoop of guacamole and a little pile of cheese. Very disappointing!

Definitely a go to for me when I want to catch some bar food with a wide variety of beer and sprits.

We ended up here for breakfast because of the coupon provided to us when we checked into the hotel…read morenext door (strong move). It was an interesting place and had a very local feel but the food was nothing to write home about. I just recently started ordering biscuits and gravy (previously I had sworn off anyone but my grandma's) and this was exactly what I was trying to avoid. It was floury and pretty tasteless. If I have occasion to be back in Corvallis again, I will partake of some of the downtown cafes instead. Sorry Tommy.

Classic greasy spoon diner. Hotel Corvallis gave the two of us four vouchers for breakfast here. I…read morehave pretty low expectations for a free breakfast, but based on reviews I was hopeful. The choice on the vouchers was for a pancake or biscuits and gravy breakfast, 2 eggs and choice of meat. As someone who's allergic to dairy, I can't have either of those. Hashbrowns are way cheaper to make, so I thought maybe they'd make an exception. Nope. I got two eggs, nitrate laden bacon, and that was it. Having double the vouchers didn't even matter. I left a small tip, but dang, if only they'd been more accommodating, I'd have been pretty generous. I won't come back, food was totally meh and regular prices were fairly obscene ($5 for a drink!). Even if I stay at the hotel again I'll save the tip $ and bring my own food. What a missed opportunity for Tommy's. If it had been a nicer experience I would have been much more open minded about returning and recommending them.

Rainy Day, Great Bar Seat, and One Memorable Meal…read more It was a cold, rainy Oregon afternoon when I stumbled into Castor, and I'm glad I did. There happened to be one open seat at the bar, which is my favorite place to dine when traveling. Sitting at the bar lets you talk story with the bartender, learn the menu, and watch the cocktails come together. If you're eating alone, I highly recommend grabbing a seat here. The bartender was friendly, easy to talk with, and clearly knew both the menu and the craft behind the bar. One thing that stood out right away was their use of fresh local ingredients, which really shows up in the flavor of the dishes and drinks. I started with the Golden Manhattan, made with a pecan-infused bourbon that was fantastic. It had a rich, slightly nutty flavor with warm vanilla notes and just the right touch of sweetness. Smooth, balanced, and a great way to kick off the meal. Alongside that I ordered the chorizo clam chowder, which brought a creamy base with just the right amount of spice from the chorizo. Comfort food with a little personality. For dinner I switched gears and ordered the Creole Sour. This one really stood out. Bright citrus up front, a smooth bourbon backbone, and a subtle spice note that tied perfectly into the Creole theme. It had that classic sour balance, tart, slightly sweet, and refreshing without overpowering the drink. Dinner was the gumbo with hot bread and butter, and it delivered. Deep flavor, a nice slow warmth from the spice, and hearty enough to make the rainy Oregon weather feel like part of the experience. To finish things off I kept it simple with a neat pour of Ben Holladay, which made for the perfect nightcap. The staff were welcoming and relaxed, which made the whole experience feel easy and comfortable. This is the kind of place that works whether you're dining solo, meeting friends, out with someone special, or grabbing dinner with a group. The price point landed right where it should be for the quality of food, cocktails, and service. If you're in Corvallis and can grab a seat at the bar at Castor, take it. Order a cocktail, settle in, and enjoy the ride. It turned a rainy afternoon into one heck of a meal.

I got the filet (5 oz) and it came with super yummy mashed potatoes and asparagus, perfect portion for a small 22 year old. The restaurant itself was quiet enough so u could easily hear people across the table from you and it is super pretty inside, very nice ambiance.
