It has been so long that we've been able to walk into a library, coming to this one felt like such…read morea privilege. We were a little lost finding a parking space since we came in through the staff parking side, and there are no "main doors." But the library is so large, having little doors all around I suppose is most suitable. So that's another thing, it's large! And I love it! It's a two story library (from what I saw), with clearly marked sections and a wonderful children's area. We immediately got ourselves library cards and began toward the children's section. My son was excited to choose new books to read (all dinosaurs and trucks of course), my daughter had a blast exploring a new open space, and neither of them wanted to leave at the end. They offer plenty of reading areas, small tables with activities, and a little computer area for children as well. The staff were extremely friendly and gave us some flyers on family events. I LOVE when libraries have tons of community events. Movie nights, crafts, toddler reading times, and bingo are all offered. They apparently have a separate auditorium for it all, which we didn't get to see, but sounds really exciting. We are excited to come again when we go for a new round of books.

There is a quiet seating section just for them where they can sit and read for as long as they want. There is someone to help the kids find books they might like. Several computer stations upstairs so you won't have to wait They also have a copy machine. The best sellers go fast any you usually have to be put on a wait list. You still need to get a card to check anything out but that only takes a few minutes to get

Lowell Branch is the "craft center" branch in Gastonia. It's a small library with a variety of odds…read moreand ends inside, including lots of kid-friendly stations. You'll find everything from your basic: book, DVD, computers and electronic resources. But, if you walk to the back of the library, you'll also discover a light board along with craft books, art supplies and even a handful of children's toys. Lowell branch also offers an multimedia room where they host activities for all ages, this summer I stuck around to watch kiddos making ice cream with cream, sugar, vanilla, ice and rock salt. However, as far a libraries go, Lowell is a very low-key, country branch. The librarians are friendly but it's very basic. You won't find a lot of space to study, but they do offer 2-3 round tables that might sit two if you don't both have a lot of things and outlets can be round in the floor. Hours are also limited for this local branch but if you have an electronic vehicle, you'll be in luck. They offer a electronic wifi charing station and of course free wifi.

The single door opens to reveal shelves well loaded in books. A little jumbled but there are paperbacks and hardcovers here including some retired library books. Thrillers and mystery and science fiction and young adult and biography. Lots of options! This is charter number 155862 and while it does not have the steward's name listed, the online entry in the Little Free Library database map reads, "I am a children's book author ('Saving Suzie Q') and love to read. Reading opens up so many worlds and stretches our minds and hearts! Our library charter was sponsored by my father and was designed and built by a friend and fellow student in our taekwondo school. Please stop by!" [Review 117 of 2025 - 4086 in North Carolina - 23684 overall]

The tone was abrupt and startling--not a polite request like "Please keep the ball out of my direction," but a raised, seemingly aggressive command. It clearly frightened the kids, who briefly froze or ran away. Even though the library is available, the unwelcoming behavior fully undermines any desire to use it. The contrast between the resource offered and the hostility displayed is jarring.

Not a Fan of the Service Here…read more I'm not sure what's going on, but the "manager" Gabriel needs to work on his people skills. Walked in looking for a specific book, and he practically barked at me to ask what I wanted. Not exactly the welcoming atmosphere I'd expect from a bookstore. He didn't even bother to help me find the book I was looking for, just grunted and pointed me in the general direction of the shelves. Definitely won't be back. 0/5 stars from me.

It is impossible to even sit down and enjoy a good book or write a College Paper, without being encumbered by the suffocating energy of the local folk. The things they talk about are so damn mind numbing. I honestly wonder how most of this town survived infancy to be honest. Sitting inside the Franklin Square Books A Million feels like the equivalent of stuffing my brain into a Dyson vacuum cleaner. Literally. Just the other day I was in here picking up a copy of Don Quixote and the cashier is rambling for several minutes about Count Dooku from Star Wars, completely unprofessional and creepy as all hell to be honest. **Fun Fact** in Mexico Sancho is a rapist/philanderer but in the book he is a Squire. Ironic? Yeah. I think so too. The other staff are actually quite helpful. I like the old lady who works at the café, I think she runs a witches coven in her off time. She actually headed me my candy blasted frappé and told me that she could read minds. . bottom line this place is weird and enter at your own risk. Run for your lives folks. Or go to the Barnes and Noble at Carolina Place. Ask about the coffee for dead soldiers !!
