None of the stuffiness that you might expect from a classic library. With open stacks and lots of well organized books, this is a bright and clear space. There are a bunch of study desks along the huge windows. Most of them have power outlets nearby which is helpful because the library also has a free and unfiltered wifi. While you do need to be a resident to borrow books, no account is needed for Internet access. I found two or three books I liked, taking two of them to a comfy seat to ensure that they were what I wanted. Checkout is super easy and completely unattended. I'm very pleased with this branch! The kid area isn't that big but does seem to be about 1/3 of the library. They don't have a lot of dress up or play areas but they have a lot computers. We had a large group so we had to double up on the computers. I found some good books to check out and a few movies also. The staff was pretty helpful but even though they are on the other side of the computers they seem be a little ways away from the kids area. The restroom is on the other side of the branch away from the kids area. The branch is clean and was very quiet. It was a rainy day during our visit. They had a cool view of outside and it made it very cozy to be tuck inside the library. Mountain Island Branch 4420 Hoyt Galvin Way, Charlotte, NC 28214 (Review 475 overall, 19 of 2021)

The ImaginOn: The Joe & Joan Martin Center collaboration between the library district and the Children's Theatre is a hands down wonder. While some libraries specialize in library things (games and toys) to engage kids and others specialize in library materials (books and puzzles), ImaginOn has it all ... including plays and story times. The library itself is free to enter, multi-story, newish, clean and easy to get to, with available parking that is free for 90 minutes with a stamped ticket. This facility absolutely had everything to stimulate kids of all ages ... probably 2 to 12 being the sweet spot. Do make a point of finding your way here for a visit someday ... you'll be glad you did. Highly recommended.

There is always some sort of craft, legos, toys and computers for her to play with/use. They also usually have monthly events and a theater. I prefer to download the CMLibrary app to keep up with events. We prefer to come here on the Saturday's but it's definitely more packed. It's about 40ish families at every session. They have a parking garage (under the library) which you can take the elevator directly into the library. They validate for 90 minutes. The issue is when it's full or days they have events parking can really be a pain. They may direct you to park at 7th street parking garage but they only validate after 5pm on weekdays or anytime on weekends.

We arrived at 4 knowing it closed at 5 p.m. A friendly attendant greeted us at the gate and asked if we were new visitors which we were, and he informed us that the last tour was already progress and we could join in, or explore the grounds on our own. This is an experience everyone young and old would enjoy! The tour is a glimpse into Mr. Graham's life, his ministry, and his travels around the world. The gardens and grounds are beautiful, and there's a memorial garden on site. We're already planning to return to experience the full tour, which is said to be at least an hour and a half long and it's free. The staff was amazing and very knowledgeable.

I had already planned to make the 2 hour drive from Raleigh anyway, but now, I went because I needed to make this visit. The staff was incredibly friendly, as one would expect. After I finished my tour of the exhibits, two people prayed for me, including the chaplain of the library. The outside grounds are nicely kept and I like that the library/museum has the farmhouse feel to it. It feels very homey and cozy. Definitely spend some time in the bookstore, there is a lot of good merch for sale. Although $30 for a coffee mug was a little too over the top for me. Let us always remember the legacy of the Grahams and may we always be aware of God's divine and loving presence.

We were a little lost finding a parking space since we came in through the staff parking side, and there are no "main doors." But the library is so large, having little doors all around I suppose is most suitable. So that's another thing, it's large! And I love it! It's a two story library (from what I saw), with clearly marked sections and a wonderful children's area. We immediately got ourselves library cards and began toward the children's section. My son was excited to choose new books to read (all dinosaurs and trucks of course), my daughter had a blast exploring a new open space, and neither of them wanted to leave at the end. They offer plenty of reading areas, small tables with activities, and a little computer area for children as well. The staff were extremely friendly and gave us some flyers on family events. I LOVE when libraries have tons of community events. Movie nights, crafts, toddler reading times, and bingo are all offered. They apparently have a separate auditorium for it all, which we didn't get to see, but sounds really exciting. We are excited to come again when we go for a new round of books.

Lowell branch also offers an multimedia room where they host activities for all ages, this summer I stuck around to watch kiddos making ice cream with cream, sugar, vanilla, ice and rock salt. However, as far a libraries go, Lowell is a very low-key, country branch. The librarians are friendly but it's very basic. You won't find a lot of space to study, but they do offer 2-3 round tables that might sit two if you don't both have a lot of things and outlets can be round in the floor.
