The South Park Regional had a fair collection of books and materials for the younger set, but really excelled at games and toys for engaging kids ... they even had a little cabin the kids could go in. The library itself was newish, clean and easy to get to, with available free parking ... although it is oftentimes full. Unlike some other libraries in the district, this one had more library things for kids to play with, but fewer library materials (books and puzzles). Still and all, nice library and recommended.

There are tons of children's books, toys, activities, and interactive areas for kids, which is wonderful. The rest of the library also looked very nice, organized, and well maintained. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the children's area was extremely disappointing. The carpets were visibly dirty and stained in multiple places, and the entire children's section felt like it was overdue for a serious deep cleaning. I completely understand that an area used by young children gets a lot of traffic and will naturally have more wear and tear, but this seemed well beyond what I would consider normal. What made it even more surprising is that I've been to other Charlotte Mecklenburg Library locations, and I have not seen their children's areas looking like this. The difference in cleanliness was very noticeable. For a space specifically designed for babies and young children who are sitting, crawling, touching toys, and playing directly on the floor I really feel like cleanliness should be one of the highest priorities. It's especially unfortunate because the rest of this library looked very nice and well cared for. Since the children's area makes up such a large portion of the downstairs, I really hope more attention is given to routinely deep cleaning the carpets, floors, toys, and play areas. This could easily be an amazing library for families, but the condition and lack of cleanliness in the children's section made me uncomfortable letting a child play freely there.

The ImaginOn: The Joe & Joan Martin Center collaboration between the library district and the Children's Theatre is a hands down wonder. While some libraries specialize in library things (games and toys) to engage kids and others specialize in library materials (books and puzzles), ImaginOn has it all ... including plays and story times. The library itself is free to enter, multi-story, newish, clean and easy to get to, with available parking that is free for 90 minutes with a stamped ticket. This facility absolutely had everything to stimulate kids of all ages ... probably 2 to 12 being the sweet spot. Do make a point of finding your way here for a visit someday ... you'll be glad you did. Highly recommended.

We arrived at 4 knowing it closed at 5 p.m. A friendly attendant greeted us at the gate and asked if we were new visitors which we were, and he informed us that the last tour was already progress and we could join in, or explore the grounds on our own. This is an experience everyone young and old would enjoy! The tour is a glimpse into Mr. Graham's life, his ministry, and his travels around the world. The gardens and grounds are beautiful, and there's a memorial garden on site. We're already planning to return to experience the full tour, which is said to be at least an hour and a half long and it's free. The staff was amazing and very knowledgeable.

They have touch screen computers with many educational activities on the computer. They also have a kids play area with rotating toys. There is an outdoor fenced in area to explore or take a break in the shade. I have checked out many great books myself, audiobooks, and even book kits to get books to read along with others. All the librarians are so nice and helpful! We always love coming here!

My son picked out a book to read to a volunteer dog for 15 minutes. It was very cute and nice for him to practice his reading with a furry friend. They have children's sections with plenty of children's books, and computers for them to play on. They have a language section with Spanish, French, and Asian books which I thought was neat. They have a teens section with a bunch of young adult books, activities, and games to play with. I do see they have a lot of events during the week also so I will be checking those out. They have plenty of parking spaces around the library and side street parking. We will be visiting a lot more often during the summer. All employees are super friendly and knowledgeable.

Took my little one to the library today for the Charlotte Hornets Book Bus!…read more They had a cute little event for the kids to encourage them to read. It was fun and engaging for the kids. Hugo the hornets mascot came and entertained the children, he was available for pictures and for everyone that registered their child, they received a golden ticket and were able to get on the book bus to pick out a book that they could keep! This was a great event to kick off summer break!

Yes, they have more (and perhaps better trained) staff than the regional branches. And yes, they have more computers than the regional branches. But wow, do they have a completely different customer demographic. How many libraries do you know that have a security office? And the stalls in the men's room have doors that are barely half-height? If you're in the neighborhood, then sure, stop in. But I wouldn't recommend making a special trip. You'll have a much better experience at almost any of the regional branches. Note - there is a drive-up book drop in the back.

I've switched entirely to e-books, so I don't come to the library often anymore. I still use my…read morecard for e-books, I just don't need to visit in person to do that. Pretty much the only reason I come to the library is because I need to print something. Who has a printer? Not me. Printing was free for a bit at the library which was nice, but they've started charging again. It's only 25 cents per page for black and white and 50 cents per page for color which is well worth not having to deal with a printer for me. This isn't my normal library, but it was on our way when we were running errands so we stopped here instead. There's a convenient app you can use to upload and print your documents. The reason for the lower than normal rating here is because none of the librarians knew how to use it. The app is straightforward if you're adding a printer for the first time. Unfortunately, I had my normal library set up already and couldn't figure out how to add another library. The librarians only seemed to know how to repeat the instructions on the sign (which assumed you had never set up a printer before). I ended up having to email the stuff to myself, log into a computer, and print from there which is more time consuming. The computers also turn off immediately 10 minutes before it closes so I was in a race with the clock. It shut down seconds after I clicked print. I hope they get the issues with the app resolved so you can have more than one library (or inform staff how to do that). Until then, I'll stick to my normal library.
