While they sell discounted tickets for kids 5-12 and kids under 5 are free, we and all the other families there found the tour to be a real struggle for our little ones. We all felt a little misled about the experience based on the online description. It's a lot of standing very still (in rooms with equipment that shouldn't be contaminated by guests, or next to equipment that has cow poop on it), listening to the owner talk for long stretches. We expected more movement around the farm and time outdoors, instead of something closer to a lecture with a large group in tight spaces. It also ran over time (to 2 hours!) ending with a nice close up visit with the cows and some small cheese samples. We did really enjoy meeting the cows and learning the details of how cheese making works. It is a real labor of love. I think there's a lot of potential here; the Achadinha tour has all the ingredients for an awesome visit but could use some editing. This tour could easily be 30 minutes, an hour tops. We would've liked to stay and buy some cheese but by 1pm we were all starving and fled to find lunch elsewhere. Other parents shared they would've had a great time there on a date, but definitely wouldn't go with small kids again. I'll also flag that they require you to step through a decontamination footbath to go inside the facilities. There were a lot of miserable people in sandals who had to get their feet wet in the chemicals. Closed toed shoes that can get wet recommended for this tour.

If you're looking for one of the most genuine, down-to-earth wine experiences in Sonoma County,…read moreBarber Cellars is an absolute must. This is not your typical tasting room--it's a family-owned, hands-on winery where you can really feel the passion behind every bottle. Mike and Lorraine make the experience personal, welcoming, and incredibly informative without ever feeling pretentious. You're not just tasting wine--you're getting the story behind it. The wines are excellent--small-production, thoughtfully made, and true to the Petaluma Gap. We enjoyed it so much that we ended up joining the wine club, which has been a great way to stay connected and discover new releases. The setting inside the historic Hotel Petaluma is cozy and relaxed, and pairing their wines with the cheese selection makes it even better. And as a bonus, they also have Barber-Lee Spirits right next door, which is worth checking out as well. Whether you're a serious wine enthusiast or just looking for a fun, authentic stop in downtown Petaluma, this place delivers--great wine, great people, and zero attitude. We'll definitely be back again and again.

You will often be served by one of the wine makers, who will answer any questions you may have. Their Pinot Noir is a great expression of the local specialty. The "Kitten With a Whip" rose' is the most flavorful rose anywhere. The Pinot Gris is the best white wine anywhere. The Sangiovese is wonderful with food. They have also become the Petaluma Cheese Shop. They have delicious cheeses from this area and around the world. They also do sandwiches, fondue and dessert treats. The venue is a part of the restored historic Petaluma Hotel, a bright and airy space with cozy couches and some vintage video games.

Glad we had reservations. We had wine tasting along with food tasting. Everything was good and beautifully presented. Afterwards, we went into the gift shop and purchased lotions and the best ginger jam that paired well with Brie. The tastings were ample and a nice selection. It was pricey, but for a special occasion, worth it. The Ode body butter is the best I had to get another jar. It is really moisturizing and lasts a long time. I prefer the "verde" scent. They have lavender, and unscented too. very relaxing vibe.

My personal SWOT analysis is listed below: Strength: *Famous in California *It offers tours, tastings, workshops, and sells wines *Pioneering Olive Oil *Award-Winning Quality *Historical Significance *Sustainability & Organic Farming *A seat-down outdoor area with scenery for any occasion *Outlet shop in downtown Petaluma Weakness: *The place is in a remote area *The olive oil testing fee is pricey compared with other places we visited in Paso Robles California *Skin products are large and heavy for tourists to take on an airplane or carry on *The table turnover rate is lower than restaurants with food consumption *No restaurant or delicatessen available *They need to hire more staff to maintain the quality of their property Opportunities: *If customer satisfaction is high *If they have good marketing strategies *Not many competitors nearby *More demand *Skin product choices are variable Threats: *If people are not familiar with olive products, they may not like this place *Customers may occupy the tables for a long time during peak season or times *Other places or similar products may have better quality at a lower price with generous portions *An alternative option in the food industry, suppliers, and cosmetics companies Overall, it's a great place to hang out on any occasion with family or small groups. The outdoor area is beautiful and relaxing. Since it is an open space, it could be very hot in summer or cold in winter, or during the rainy season. Moreover, this ranch is also not very noticeable to international tourists. We found it because during the New Year's holiday, many places are closed. So we googled this place while we were staying at the Hampton Inn Petaluma. We are from San Luis Obispo, California. There are many olive oil farms nearby. We not only visited the farms but also tasted the olive oil at a little fee or sometimes even for free.
