I don't know what happened to all of the real reviews I had read but check out city search, there are some there. I was aware of this store's rep but was not going to judge someone off of a few, ok, a number of bad reviews. I wish I had. Omg...what a complete bi*¥&#. And for no reason. I just stopped in on my lunch break and asked a question before I was going to purchase a few items. The woman, the owner, mocked me for asking a "beginner" question and then laughed at me (yes, actually laughed a nasty, condescending laugh!). I was briefly humiliated, then quickly angry. After all, it's the beginners that will become your next round of customers if treated right. What a horrible person!!! I will never, NEVER, step foot in her shop again. Instead, I stopped by "Basically Beads" in Diamond Springs on the way home. I had my question answered kindly and helpfully. I will definitely be back there. Please do not open a shop if you hate people and only want to mock them. read more

Good selection of beads, especially strands of semiprecious stones, but the least-friendly service I've ever encountered, in any type of shop. Be forewarned: don't enter the shop with a child in tow, even if s/he is well-behaved. read more

Way too expensive and terrible customer service. The woman there made me feel like I was putting her out by being there. She also freaked my friend out about supplies she had already purchased elsewhere for a project and guilted her into spending a bunch of money on the wrong supplies. read more

Good selection of OVER priced semiprecious stones and ready made jewelry and gee-gahs, but the customer service is horrible, the woman acts like she is doing you a favor by letting you in the door. And she is not artistic or knowledgeable. read more

We always try to support local business and needed some supplies to complete a necklace. The women working could not have been bothered more. She was busy talking to a friend, and would not even acknowledge us. When I was finally able to get her attention, she was not open to answering any questions about the products she had. And now that I am home, it is obvious that I didn't have everything that I needed! I am in complete agreement that this is some of the worst customer service I have ever seen, and I will not return. read more

If you are interested in serious beading, and need help finding the right beads, this is not the place for you. Not only is the owner, Linda, lacking in knowledege, she will not leave her station from behind the counter to assist you in finding the right sizes and gauges. She is also rude and unfriendly, and does not really know her own inventory. It's unfortunate that we artists in small towns are reduced to buying on the internte, but alas, that's what I must do. There are two other shops, one in Diamond Springs, and one in Auburn, where the customer service is far superior. read more

I agree with the previous reviews. The lady who runs this place is very rude. I went in to get some pretty simple beads and left with nothing. I was not greeted, despite her looking right at me when I walked in. At one point, she was standing next to me and I said I had a question, at which point she replied "yes", but walked to the other side of the store away from me. I had to leave the area that had the beads in question and follow her. Her reply was short curt and very unhelpful. Not a place I'd go again. The woman that works there is so horrible she almost made me cry. She was incredibly rude to me because I had a budget. I can't believe that in this economy she can stay afloat while being so nasty to her customers. I went to the bead shop in Diamond Springs called Basically Beads Craft Supply and the woman who worked there was wonderful!! So kind, so helpful, and it very inexpensive. read more

I am a believer in buying local, but the owner of this store makes it impossible to follow my own policy. I have gone into this store several times in the 7 years I've lived in Placerville, most recently today, and have never once been treated with courtesy by the store owner. Today, she laughed at my basic beading question, then when she finally "got" my question she pointed to a wall full of merchandise and said "It's over there." After 5 minutes of searching, I told her I still couldn't find what I was looking for, asking specifically if she could come over and show me (I was the only one in the store this entire time). First she simply pointed again, then with a huge roll of the eyes and heavy sigh, she finally came over to find that she was in fact out of stock of what I was looking for. I asked if she would be ordering the item soon, and her response was, "Oh, some day." So unprofessional; so unfriendly, so Unhelpful!! Honestly, I think she must do this on purpose, I can't imagine why, but no one can be this consistently rude and clueless about their own behavior at the same time. She must stay in business from tourists who come in once and don't return...I for one will never set foot in this store again. The folks down at Basically Beads in Diamond Springs are SUPER helpful, so even though they are quite a distance from me, I will go there from now on. read more

I am outraged by the rudeness of the owner of this business, so much so I decided to get a yelp account and spend my precious free time writing a review! You can't say the customer service is bad - the customer service is non-existent, it's horrible! I've been there several times, and every time she is rude beyond belief! Today I stopped in because I needed to fix a necklace that is very dear to me. I asked her if she could please help me find the part I needed to repair it. She treated me literally like dirt! With a wave of her hand, she rudely pointed in the general direction: "maybe we have something over there." I went "over there" and could not find anything. I didn't know what I was looking for. I needed help, but based on the way she treated me, I was afraid to ask. I will NEVER, EVER go in that store again. Every other store in downtown Placerville, the people are very friendly, welcoming, and extremely helpful. In this woman's store, every time (3, too many!!!) I go there I leave with a bad taste in my mouth. Today was the last straw. Never again! read more
