This hot chicken sandwich is in another level. My new obsession! The broccoli side was bland however.

Sure they have delicious, fresh chickens but they also have a large selection of hot chicken dishes like chicken curry, chicken stir fry, even chicken schnitzel plus lots of different salads. If you want my pick of the lot, try a whole Portuguese chicken (better than Nando's!) or if you want to add a bit of flavour to a regular chicken grab a tub of their lemon and herb or chilli sauce - for $1.50 a tub you can't go wrong.

A quarter of chicken and chips will leave you bursting, so much is provided, and it'll be so tasty you'll not want to stop. Portuguese chicken is fantastic, so are their marinated drumsticks, devil wings, wedges & potato bake, and most of their daily specials that change from day to day. Their chicken schnitzel is where they really let things down. It's always over-tenderised and they try to recover the flavour too much with herbs and spices, over-doing it. The over-tenderizing also leaves it a little thin so it often gets over-cooked too. Their lasagne, while fantastic, is provided to the chains cold and when ordered gets heated unevenly in a microwave. It really lets it down. It'd be nice if they could warm it up some other way, or in a device that doesn't warm it up so unevenly. I used to be a regular at their Chatswood outlet, but now visit this one at Neutral Bay almost exclusively - purely due to convenience and current location of home/work. Both of these chains are pretty much identical in food quality & choices.

Beginning…read morein Coogee, they've branched out and although no longer in Coogee, they've got 11 venues across Sydney and open 7 days a week. We visited our closest store, the Woollahra venue. It is both a dine in and takeaway venue and they are always super busy. This is testament to just how good the food is. At first it might look like your typical charcoal chicken shop, but it is much more than that with amazing salads, veggies, burgers and desserts and it will have you salivating for more. From the charcoal grill, their chickens do not have hormone injections and they are beautifully chargrilled, and seasoned with herbs and spices or marinated with Portuguese flavours. Of course it wouldn't be the perfect meal without fries. You can get their nicely seasoned French fries chips or their famous hand cut potato wedges or sweet potato wedges. We tried them all and can't choose our favourite They use the freshest of ingredients and seasonal produce to make their famous salads, made in house everyday. They will suit a range of crowds and we tried the poke salad, Buddha salad and roasted cauliflower. The Golden quinoa salad was also an absolute winner. There's a hot menu with a lot of choice - from baked salmon, chicken drumsticks, meatballs and curry to casseroles and Lentils. We had the amazing lamb shanks and mixed roasted vegetables and they were a great accompaniment. As we were here for a huge spread, we both got a burger, the chicken and also a cheeseburger. Free range chicken and grass fed beef, fresh butter lettuce, sliced tomato, onion, secret sauce on a milk bun - these were delicious - and huge! We tried the piri piri sauce and lemon and herb dressing which we also enjoyed. They have sweets and desserts too, and although we didn't try, because we were full; the home made apple pie looks like a winner. Chargrill Charlie's does catering as well if you're keen to order a bunch of food for your office meeting, picnics or even private functions. When you arrive it may appear slightly overwhelming with so many people trying to get the Chargrill Charlie's fix. But don't fret, the service is easy. Take a number and wait your turn, service is extremely fast. They also have an app where you can earn store credit and even purchase Chargrill Charlie's hoodies, hats and bags to feel like a part of the team.

This casual take-away chicken and…read morerice and salad joint is - and the whole thing is kind of hilarious - "Celebrity Central" as evidenced by the photos along the wall with pictures of movie stars and talk show shosts dropping in (Oprah! Hugh Jackman! Russell Crowe!) which, who knows, maybe gives it a bit of food industry-cred. But nevermind the celebrities (really, don't mind them) because the food is what everyone is there for (ostensibly, because, again, who knows?). It's cheap, quick grab-and-go food. You can get a quarter or half chicken and be on your way or put a bun between the chicken with lettuce and tomatoes to make a chicken burger or you can put it in a long roll or you can get the Indonesian rice with chicken schnitzel or get a half chicken or a whole chicken with wanton salad or avocado salad or pesto pasta or roasted potatoes. Whatever you want. Take note, though, there are only a total of about 4 seats here so make other arrangements for seating if you can. And take a number if it's busy. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Running 21.1km / half marathon in the CBD of Sydney's inner core works up an appetite. I decided to…read morevisit this place for a good, hearty lunch option. #Rungry is a real important thing! It looked pretty healthy and decided to have lunch here at the Split Roast Shop. This small little café type of restaurant reminds me of a lot of places in Honolulu, Hawaii, US where I am from. It also kind of reminds me of any panda express location in the United States also. But however, I was in Kiribilli / North Sydney Australia, so there are variations to this type of set up motif anywhere in the world nowadays. This experience here at the Split Roast shop was very much a Takeaway experience. I ended up having to decide about 10 minutes before actually ordering. Everything looks so good, and I wanted to have it off. But I was needing to decide on a few things, before I end up spending AU$50 or more. Needless to say, I enjoyed my time here, even though it was just about 25 minutes from start to finish. I ended up getting a New York burger with a side of large mixed rice. It was definitely a nice meal to have after running 21.1 km. The mixed rice definitely a good take on rice and filled the stomach after a morning of running through the streets of CBD Sydney and some along the Sydney Harbor Bridge. The overall experience here at the Roast Split Shop here in Kiribilli / North Sydney, Australia was really touch and go. It is pretty much what fast food counters are. Fast food at your convenience, but with a subtle touch of homespun flavor. I do like seeing everything in the trays before you decide on what serving size container you want. I needed 10 minutes before deciding what to get. The prices were pretty good, although I had to do currency conversion in my head before placing my order. The service here was good although it was quick ordering and fast pay. Waiting for the burger took about 10 minutes, but it was made to order, so that was awesome! For the most part though, everything was good and in order. Only part was that it did not have enough tables to sit down and eat. At the time, 2 of them were occupied and I had to find elsewhere to have my meal. They are located at 10 Broughton Street near the Sydney harbor Bridge's north end. They accept major credit cards, including international visa credit cards and cash. Being that they are located in a residential suburban area, parking here can be a breeze, but you'd have to walk a few - depending on where you parked. If you are a tourist like me, uber works best unless you rent a car. There is a train station here in Kiribilli, but i didn't utilize it during my stay here. Best bet is to get here anyway you can. It is deliciously crazy here. The NY Burger was pretty epic and definitely the one to get. It is simple without the extras to really get a good dose of Burger and crazy good protein in your mouth. It was worth the $10 I think it was. The mixed rice was good and satisfying. Rice is usually filling and it did its job of satisfying without being too heavy. While I should have gotten some chips, the rice was a nice substitute for carb overload for sure. The prices here were decidedly okay and when you are a tourist, you just go with it and see where it takes you. For the most part though, I like it and the lady at the counter was nice and friendly. If you are here in Kiribilli / North Sydney for business or holiday, consider checking out this hole in the wall place. I would recommend this hidden gem, for anyone who loves comfort food at its best. One of the best burgers I've had in a while overseas while traveling. Thank you, Split Roast Shop for a nice meal here. You are awesome! Maybe next time, I shall get one of those roast chickens and have a party. 4.0 stars for the overall experience. 4.5 stars for the food. 4.0 stars for the service. 3.0 stars for the ambiance. Fast food at its finest. Support local! B+

Many an afternoon after a productive and well-behaved evening at Cremorne Hotel we'd roll out of bed and trek all the way down Clarke Road for chips and a burger at Sydney's most inappropriately named chicken shop. Nothing beats Spitroast chips and a beef burger with cheese and tomato added and BBQ sauce. So much so that the fact that he lived in Kirribilli is possibly 90% of the reason I'm with my fiancé. Over the years I have tried pretty much everything here and I can say if there is a better chicken shop in Sydney then I haven't found it. Although my days backing it up on the dance floor at Mega Hole are over and I no longer live in Kirribilli I still find myself here quite regularly. The shop owner is like an old friend now that you only see when you are hungry. They have since branched out to Artarmon and Potts Point but like all chicken shop franchises the original is always the best.
