Nourished by Nature (https://nourishedbynature.us) is a private ranch near Bismarck, North Dakota…read more It offers some of the best meat products to be had anywhere!!! What makes these wonderful products different from those you are likely to find in your supermarket? *Regenerative Agriculture.* Good, nutritious food starts with healthy soil. This means you need to have lots of soil organic matter (SOM), the myriad bacteria, fungi, protozoa, insects, etc. that comprise a food web just under the surface. For example, did you know that a cup of healthy soil taken from the rhizosphere (the area adjacent to the roots) contains more organisms than there are people in the world? No kidding! So, what do all these little critters do for us? Well, first, they make available to plants a whole host of nutrients that are not obtainable with conventional chemical inputs. One little example -- vitamin B-12. This is really important for human health. The soil food web dissolves tiny cobalt crystals in the soil which, when metabolized via bacteria and protozoa and transported to plants via mychorrizal fungi and endophytic bacteria, becomes available to ruminants as B-12. When we eat these, we benefit from this vital ingredient to good health. This is the sort of nutrition that is generally unavailable from commodity-grade food. The carrot you ate in your salad probably had about half the nutrients of one your great grandmother ate in her day.

There are books describing all this cool stuff in detail. Gabe Brown, who got all this started at the Brown Ranch more than two decades ago, wrote one. It is "Dirt to Soil", available on Amazon, and a great read.
Now, the food . . . . The beef and other products sold at Nourished by Nature are unbelievable. They are delicious, and eating them makes me feel good. Great taste, great nutrition, and doing great things for agriculture, farming families, and the land. Want a healthy, low-carb snack? Try some Nourished by Nature beef jerky; it is one of my favorites. What's not to love?
You can buy this great food at various locations in North Dakota or, for those of us like my St. Louis friends for whom this would be a far piece to drive, from their website. It arrives in an insulated UPS box a few days later. These products and this ranch come with my highest recommendations.
