Sandwich combo of ham and salami was extra buttery grilled bread. The cheesy breadstucks were regular ones with poppy seed sides and a layer of provolone melted on the top. The calzone looked well prepared and had thinly sliced pepperoni as the chosen topping. Outside dining area with a giant game for kids who it depends on their manners, can be noisy. Wait staff friendly but not attentive and thw bathrooms were reported to them. Place draws a decent local crowd and prices are reasonable. read more

We had a party of 8, the restaurant was not busy when we arrived. We ordered 4 pizzas. Multiple tables received their order before we did. When it finally came out almost an HOUR later, half of it was wrong. Did they care? Not even a little. When we said something about the 18% gratuity added for our party size and the lack of service and accuracy we were told "we would've remade it". Excuse me?! Why would I wait LONGER?! Needed someplace quick and pizza is always a good fit for that...stayed down the street at a hotel nearby and this place was close and not a chain. We just got a large (16") pizza with half pepperoni, a ham sub and large order of cheesy bread sticks. They were fast and everyone loved the food! Ham sub had "too much ham" for the one that asked for it, which is crazy talk...how can you have too much meat for a sub?? The cheesy bread sticks really were great just because the mozzarella cheese covering was SO good and just covering completely the bread sticks! Pizza was large, solid sized slices, and just really good. Not that we eat there, but they had a nice spacious restaurant (didn't see anyone inside) as well as a patio off the back with a little waterfall that just looked nice and relaxing. This was just what we were looing for -- locally made fresh pizza. All the servers were extremely friendly. The salad was fresh and tasty. The ricotta-mozzarella cheese mix on the veggie pizza was a nice twist. We'll stop here again the next time we're in Abingdon. read more

They have a beautiful back patio, and that would be about it. Their service well she forgot that we ordered a pizza and I had to go up and get it. They were not busy. Their large is a 15 inch not an 18 inch. There were three vegetables on our vegetable pizza and one was the add-on that she said they didn't have mushrooms and they put banana peppers. The beauty of my job is that I get to travel and taste different types of food. Tonight it was Bella's Pizza and Sub's. Location is strane, parking was scant, and the inside was different. The acoustics were bizarre I could hear exactly what a guy three tables over was saying, but not the table next to me. But the food and service were definitively above average. I had a vegetarian pizza with anchovies as an extra topping. The bread was great and overall it was very delicious. The beer selection was basic but there was a beer for every taste. Finally the service was attentive and the price was good for the quality of the food. This is absolutely a place I will visit next time I'm in town! read more

After crashing my car, I was forced to stay the night in a town I am mostly unfamiliar with: Abingdon, Virginia. A half mile from my hotel, I found a local pizza place called Bella's. Stepping in, you find a mostly plain, but smart setup. There's a mixture of table sizes, so groups are definitely possible. I went with a calzone for my food choice. Not bad! Weird crust taste, not as flavorful as others, but I was not disappointed. Jordan was my server, and was very kind. I see it for what it is. It's not trying to be the best pizza place out there, just good enough for the locals and weary travelers (me) to enjoy a good pizza instead of a fast food joint or gas station. read more

After a twelve months hiatus we decided to give Bella's Abingdon another try. Sadly, a mistake. We waited 42 minutes for our pizza. (It was early and the dining room was nearly empty; so it wasn't a matter of being too busy.) And the pizza arrived BURNT! The server seemed to avoid us so we went ahead and ate it. Wasn't horrible, but the crust was tasteless. Cheese and topping was okay but would have been better if not over-cooked. Overall, not horrible, not great, barely good (except for the burnt.) There are MUCH better options for pizza in town. AFTER we finished eating the server finally stopped by. When he asked if everything was okay we told him that the pizza was burnt. "Yeah, that's been happening" he said "the oven isn't working right and they can't lower the temperature. I'll talk to the manager and get you a discount." Great, we thought, you just increased the amount of your tip. He soon returns with the check and says "The manager is at the supermarket so I can't do anything with the price. Sorry, guys." (No discount.) Ooookay. Guess what, I decide on the tip and the Yelp* review! Editorial: My tip always always reflects the quality of the SERVICE; usually not the quality of the FOOD...the quality of the SERVICE. I'm a firm believer in not penalizing the server for a bad kitchen. However, if it's something the server should have caught and didn't, that's a few points against him. Bottom line: Mediocre (at best) pizza, lousy crust, poor service and horrible quality control. If you want consistently good pizza and reasonably good service. look elsewhere. read more

This has been my family's favorite restaurant for over thirty years. We live out of state, and we try to eat here every time we have the opportunity to travel through the area. Good pizza BUT unfair pricing policy. Ordered two large pies with 2 - 1/2 toppings on each. In other words they were using only half of the topping only but instead we were charged for four full toppings. I inquired about it with the manager but all he could say was "sorry I'm just the night manager." Additionally, they got the order wrong. This is why they only got three stars instead of four. As of now they can get away with this because there are not too many good pizzerias in Abingdon. Once competition comes to town it'll be a different story. read more

This was the first and probably the last time we will eat at Bella's. We have heard many great things about this restaurant and wanted to try it ourselves. My daughter ordered the Italian sub and my husband and I decided to share a pizza. We also ordered the cheese sticks. We waited almost 45 minutes for five over cooked cheese sticks to be delivered to our table, then waited another 25 minutes for a tiny over cooked pizza to be plopped I front of us. The crust was burnt and the mushrooms were barely cooked. My daughter's sub was so greasy that oil was pouring off the bottom of the sandwich. Sorry, Bella's, maybe we caught you on a bad night but you really dropped the ball on this one. Disgusting food and bad service, we won't be coming back any time soon. read more

Their cheese & crust were particularly satisfying; the former real not over processed stuff many pizzerias use, the later substantial enough but not overly thick, doughy, or bulky. My wife are here for the weekend and decided to try this for the first time. I had spaghetti with meatballs for a up charge and a side salad with peppercorn ranch. My wife has Greek salad with peppercorn ranch. My wife really liked her salad with black olives and onions and feta cheese, other than needing chopped smaller she said it was good. The good stopped there for me as the salad was just very ordinary and the dressing plain, I would have thought a long term eatery such as this would have may their own. The spaghetti portion size was right, but the sauce and meatballs were extremely ordinary. The prices pretty pricey for plain food. All in all we have 2 visits to restaurant, the first and last. Would not recommend unless you just absolutely need Italian. read more
