Since being back in Texas, I've been in dire need of a root touch up. I was a bit hesitant to try a new salon, but after many, many recommendations...I HAD to book an appointment with Rose for highlights. And let me tell you... I was not disappointed! I absolutely love my color, cut and style. I was also able to book a shellac appointment and eyelash refill for the following day. It was a true beauty weekend! Bellaqua's prices are reasonable for the area. The botique itself it nestled in a shopping center off 610, close to the galleria and so easy to find. Everyone in the salon is so nice and accommodating...I forgot my mask and they were able to give one upon arrival. Very disappointed with my recent experience. I came here in March for Great Lengths hair extensions because it was less expensive than my previous stylist. Over the past months, I noticed my real hair was coming out with the extensions, which had never happened before in 3 yrs of extensions (they typically slide out with ease when the grow or fall out) and is quite scary. Yesterday I came in for removal in preparation for a new set and was shocked at how much hair I was missing and how destroyed it looked. I communicated this to the stylist and particularly inquired about her installation technique and size of the extension bond. Since no solution was offered, I decided to install less hair while I regrow my lost hair :( Compared to my last visit, this time I was charged 10% more for the actual hair extensions, over 10% more for removal and significantly more for the installation, even though it was less hair to install and took a lot less time. The rationale was last time she charged by the hour but this time she charged by the bundle (without communicating this random change in price structure to me). Also, there was an effort to charge me $65 for a dry cut and style, which was always included (even here on my last visit). After complaining, the cost was reduced to comparable to what I paid last time, but it was awkward and I had to nitpick each charge. Based on the issues described in paragraph 1, I had concerns about giving this place another chance. Perhaps other services here are OK, but I strongly recommend going elsewhere for extensions. What happened to me here is not normal. Either they are not using Great Lengths and using a knock off brand or they are not properly bonding the extensions. My first visit to InStyle will be my last. I asked for high and low lights. Instead they colored my whole head and added highlights. The color was to be close to my original color. It's not even close. She dried out my hair, their hair products are cheap and low quality. It will now costs me hundreds and hundreds of dollars to bring some semblance of what I had. I am sick to my stomach. I don't even want to go out in public. Then they had the nerve to tell me it would only be $195.00. I told them there would be no way I would pay them to destroy my hair. Maybe it's time I take them to small claims court so they can pay for my damage and ensuing costs. read more

Went in to get a balayage and haircut with Rose. A friend recommend her and I checked out the reviews and didn't see much but decided to give her a try. The process took about 3-4 hours and she had multiple people helping her that didn't seem to know what they were doing. This had to be the worst hair experience I ever had. Color and cut were terrible I'm not sure if she was rushing or just straight up didn't know what she was doing. I was so upset that And felt like she shouldn't have charged me for messing up my hair but she still did. She didn't charge me the full amount but still charged. She also offered to fix my hair on another day but after this experience I didn't want to come back for her to ruin my hair even more. Horrible experience! read more

I had my full head of hair done in April and I had a healthy set of full hair down to edge of shoulder! I wanted it cut just at my collarbone and roots done and just few highlights around face. my hair was already blonde (but very healthy)! ask anyone!! I was tired coming from work and she (YUMI LAM) right at 8a! she BURNT my hair! literally broke it! left my roots black, cut my hair lopsided and barely touching shoulder! two days later when I went to wash hair it was falling out by the handfuls!! I sat in the tub n cried!! continued to do that for 3 weeks! I can not dry my hair nothing! had my old hairdresser who was afraid to touch it cuz it breaks off cut it even shorter! I now can't even put in ponytail! couldn't leave gs for two n half weeks! on lots of hair vit 100. month for them! will take 8 mo to a yr to repair my healthy hair! I wasn't going to write a review but she refused to return the 220-240! I never want someone to go through what I went through and still going through june 2022:(((( read more

This was my first time to visit this salon and I must say that I'm impressed! I followed my favorite hairstylist Kat from SOK. The people and the energy are so much better than where she was before. The owners greeted me at the door were extremely sweet and inviting. The other stylists that were there were also super nice and offered to help with different types of techniques with my hair. Ask for Kat, she's been doing my hair for over 10 years and always impresses. They also offer full nail salon, eyelash extensions, and massages. My husband scheduled a pedicure, massage, and facial for me. The pedicure was awesome my feet look and feel amazing. I fell asleep during the massage, that's how relaxed I felt. The pressure was just right and the young lady listened to all my requests. I was worried about the facial, just because I had not had one since I was in my 20s. CL was nice, professional and knowledgeable. I was thinking my face would be red and irritated when she was done. My face looks bright and very clean, not a blackhead in sight. I made an appointment for a hot stone massage, and a hot stone manicure/pedicure, both of which were on special for $45 each at the time I made the appointment. The man who took the appointment was very friendly and professional. The massage was amazing, nice firm pressure and very relaxing. The massage rooms are a little small but they seem to be well-insulated since very little of the noise from the salon came through. I would recommend putting your belongings in the locker that they offer, since the only place to put them in the massage room is on the floor. The manicure and pedicure were not done as the hot stone version, but the standard. Goldie did both of them, and she was friendly and chatted a bit with me. My nails looked great afterwards, and I only had to endure just a tiny bit of attempted up-selling. The service rendered was very similar to what you'd receive in a good strip center nail salon, with good cleanliness standards and sanitation, but this place does charge a bit more since it's a "day spa," or at least that's how Goldie explained it to me. I've marked it down 1 star just because I booked with the special but didn't receive it for my nails. The cashier also tried to charge me full price on all services until I reminded him about the special, but he didn't argue after I reminded him. read more

Stopped by there by accident, was passing by and needed my bangs trimmed. They took me in right away, the hairstylist turned out to be the salon owner, very lovely lady. While we chatted she offered to straighten my messy long hair, which was very nice of her, it saved me a lot of time at home. Very friendly and nice atmosphere. The staff here are so friendly, you feel like you been knowing this people for so long is lovely. I got my mom the serenity package deal and the message and facial was great she loved that. The only thing that i really dislike is that the manicure look like i was done by a 10 year old. It was not well done at all. She didn't get no massage, or even the cuticle remove. She did not get no paraffin wax at all. Not on her hands or feet. I was really disappointed after spending 500 dollars i expected a little better job. My mom had to fix her own nails and that was not the point as it was a mother days gift. In addition, the hair style that they did on her was not good at all. I feel like they just burn her hair 3 times as there was no need for it. She ended up fixing her on hair in a way better style. Don't get me wrong there were some ladies that did other people hair amazing. I like this place but i would definitely not do a manicure or pedicure there and i would choose wisely who did the hair. So where to begin? I walked in a little over a week ago and about 1 minute past my appointment for a brazilian and the waxer (Shami) rubbed it in my face and said how lucky I am she is nice because she was going to leave and make me re-book for another time. Then when I am in the room, her daughter repeatedly calls her cell phone and Shami answered each time. So with one hand holding the phone, she is pulling the strips from my private area with the other hand. Not to mention screaming and cussing out her daughter each time while right in front of me. She had to have called 6 times or so during the session. She kept yelling at her daughter to come pick her up and I could tell she wanted to leave because she would put the wax on and pull as fast as she put it on. She didn't use the hard wax either and instead used the strips. She didn't give it any chance to set in either. Then she skipped the scrotum area and said that area for men is too sensitive and they don't do that area. I would have liked to have known that before. In reality, she just wanted to go home. All other salons take about an hour or a little longer to do that wax and she did it in 25-30 minutes or so. All at my expense for extra pain. Then I go to pay and the guy behind the desk says "Okay, $150." I said "Huh? Your website says the men's brazilian wax is $75." Shami comes back and says that the $75 is for girls but for men it is $150. I said "No it isn't" and began to pull up their website. She said "Fine, I will give you a deal and give you $100 instead." I said "No, you charge $75 on the site. That isn't a deal." Then she kept saying how $100 is for men and $75 is for girls even though a couple seconds earlier, it was $150 for men and $75 for women. Their site states its $60 or $65 for women and $75 for men. Then she changed her argument and said it was because she waxed all of my glutes and not just the strip down the middle. True, but she should have asked if I wanted that. If it would be $25 more then I would turn it down and especially if it was $75 more for a couple of strips of wax. I turned down paying $100 another time and she said how there is no money in it for her at $75. $100 is a good deal and she is being nice to me. Overcharging more than what is advertised isn't being nice. I showed the guy at the front desk the site that says "Men's Brazilian Wax-$75." Shami stormed off and said "Fine! Just do $75 but next time it is $100 at least!" No, this was my first and last time at Bellaqua. Oh, want to know the best part? I PMed them on Facebook rather than posting it publically on their page and I have yet to get a response from them. No "I apologize." No nothing from them. Within a couple of hours of me sending this review to them a week ago, it was marked as "read" so they definitely saw it. So because of that, I made an account on Yelp just to give them 0 stars.
