I particularly enjoyed the Vassar noodle bowl, which featured chewy noodles in a coconut milk curry sauce (allegedly Malaysian, more Malaysian "inspired") with BBQ pulled pork on top!! I would never have thought to combine these two ingredients, but they work beautifully together. It's a very warm and comforting dish, and the mint, cilantro, and radish garnish helps provide a bit of contrast. I liked the sour cream drizzle on top, too. I feel like this dish could really be fantastic if they adjusted the thickness and amount of curry sauce (the noodles are swimming in it like a soup) and provided more herbs and radishes on top. It could also benefit from a crispy topping to provide textural contrast. I've had other things from here that I've liked, but that weren't anything special. Like the Malaysian curry, their chicken tikka masala sauce also has a very runny texture, instead of the thicker richer sauces I've had elsewhere. And their bao buns are honestly not worth buying, since they have no hoisin sauce or creamy aioli/slaw element that binds together the rather dry meat, pickle slices, and scallions in each bun. They seem to exclusively be a grab and go kind of place, which makes sense to me as it's in a college town. Inside it's small and rather bleak, without any kind of decoration and not much seating. They take a pretty long time to prepare orders too, so plan ahead in case you're in a hurry.

Family photos and art throughout. This is a spot where you use a QR code to connect to a menu and order remotely (though you can request regular menus). This doesn't bother me and it's fairly efficient. My server was still attentive and kind. I did hit a snafu at the end where it wouldn't let me close my tab, so she had to provide me with a bill and run my credit card. My only complaint about this place is that it was wicked cold. I was shivering at first. The server (maybe owner, I'm not sure, she just seemed to have her sh*t together) turned on a nearby portable heater and that made things livable, but I still kept my puffer jacket on the whole meal. This is not the only restaurant in Connecticut that I encountered that was frigid. I don't know if it's a northeast thing, a CT thing, the heating bill is too damn high thing, or if something wasn't working right. But even with he heater turned on, it never made it above 52. I had the rope vieja, which was juicy and flavorful. Loved the beans and plantains as well. All served perfectly. They have a great classic mojito. They also serve the Cubano (and several other types of sandwiches), empanadas, various Cuban dishes featuring pork, shredded steak, fried eggplant, chicken thigh, oxtail, Cuban beef tacos. They have veggie entrees as well, featuring ingredients like cheese, guava, rice black beans, plantains, tofu. The food and service were great. And I loved how it had a community feel. But more heat please! That's all I ask!
