I rarely get manicures and pedicures because I am terrible with my nails. But I had a wedding to attend which means that everything, including my stubby, chipped nails have to look polished. Another thing: I'm not taking my nails to some cheap nail salon ever. I had a terrible cheap mani/pedi experience during high school and it traumatized me. Much Yelp research concluded I might as well pony up some extra time and cash for a quality mani/pedi. That's how I found Bella Nirvana. I managed to snag a last minute appointment with Heather. I was a speed demon on highway 1 getting to Bella Nirvana. Heather had The Touch(tm). Totally chill personality and extremely thorough. She got my nails to the shape I always dreamed of. I didn't feel pain when she got to the cuticles and the other potentially delicate areas of my nails. Heather calmed my nerves and kept our conversation going as she buffed my heels into super softness. Seriously my heels became baby butt smooth. Brands carried by Heather? Chanel, OPI, essie and probably a few more. No cheap nail polish brands here. This place goes all out. It's day 4 and my nail polish hasn't chipped or scratched. (After much abuse moving boxes, filing, typing, writing, and fidgeting.) Yes, the place is small. But somehow you feel like you're visiting a friend when you step in. Parking is a bit of a hassle (a certain famous Pacifica bakery is two doors down) but not impossible. Calling or e-mailing them for an appointment is highly encouraged. I never realized that the ladies here were so busy. Once I get more spending money in my budget I'll try (and review) Bella Nirvana's other services. I was blown away by Heather's mani/pedi and will forever have high standards about such girly-girl services. read more

I had a Groupon for a massage and a facial, but I was pregnant and they don't do prenatal massage, so they let me do two facials instead. Sweet! The service at Bella Nirvana is great. I was offered water immediately upon arrival, and they asked me about my skin and any medical conditions/allergies I had. MJ did both of my facials and they were very relaxing - which is hard to do when your belly is out-to-here and your back hurts. Their products are natural and I didn't have any adverse reactions like I do at other places. My skin was glowing afterwards! Reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that I felt it is a little expensive when you don't have a Groupon, and the ambiance of the space could be improved - it's very cramped in there. I was procrastinating on writing a review about Dotsy at Bella Nirvana for the longest time, because I did not want to make it more difficult for me to get an appointment with her. But...After going to Dotsy for years, I have since moved overseas, and think it is time to share the love. So, where do I begin? Dotsy is an incredibly skilled, calming, and strong massage therapist. She is very knowledgeable about acupressure points, strong on knots in muscle, and gentle in working out tension in the soft tissue. The environment at Bella Nirvana (with the sound of the Pacific Ocean waves breaking in the background) is always relaxing and welcoming. Dotsy is great at getting back to you -- I just text her with a few days/times that work for me, and she always very responsive. This spa is great! I got a deal through groupon and was just shocked at how accommodating they were! my schedule is crazy busy with school and work so i was really happy when they were able to get me in for both my facial and massage. Facial: MJ is such a sweetie. She's so nice, and really excellent at what she does. She explained every product to me, and told me about the process along the way (i.e. and now we're going to moisturize to balance your combination skin). In addition, she didn't hurt me at all during extractions and the overall facial was so relaxing i almost fell asleep. Oh, and the heated bed with a huge comfy comforter was to die for. Massage: I adore Christina! She's so nice and so intuitive to my back pain. I have chronic back issues, and she was able to tell exactly where my injuries were and work through them without hurting me. Her pressure was perfect, and her spirit is just so uplifting. The Spa itself: really cute, quaint boutique spa. The products are not so visible that you feel obligated to buy something, but they are here for browsing. They have tea for you and water, which is always nice on a chilly Pacifica day. No Chip Manicure. There was a sign out front that said they were buy one get one free, so in I went to make my appointment. Honestly, I was skeptical but I walked out with the most fabulous manicure I've ever had. It's been 8 days and they look just as good as the day I got them done and I have a feeling that they're going to last longer than 2 weeks. I'm giving Bella Nirvana 3 stars. Here is the break down: My massage from Christina was ok...I get massages fairly regularly and the pressure she used was very light and it seemed to end early. It would have been nice if there was less talking during the massage because you can hear everything between the massage room and the facial room. My facial from MJ was ok with the exception that she did not have a facial steamer (opening pores). Again, I get facials on occasion and never once had I experienced a facial without a steamer or magnifying glass (not sure of the official equipment term) to determine your skin type; MJ determined mine by touching my face in a low light environment. I would have enjoyed the facial more if the towels used were warm. Overall the experience was A-OK ( 3 stars) read more

MJ did an incredible job with my eyelashes extensions! I had gone to 3 other salons prior to finding Bella Nirvana and I can say that this has been the most pleasant experience. MJ was gentle, careful, and exuded kindness and patience. She knows exactly what to do and is very thorough. She gave me a detailed tutorial on how to care for them so that my lashes could last the longest. She said her client's would have their lashes last for anywhere from 3 weeks to a month. Wow! THANK YOU DOTSY AND HEATHER!!!! I purchased 2 groupons for the 1 hr. facial + 1 hr. massage a while back and finally got to visit this place. I booked both massages and 1 facial for my bf and saved 1 facial for myself. I booked appointments through the phone and even though Dotsy and I had to play phone tag, we figured out times that worked out for both of us. Dotsy is a pleasure to be around and her love for her job really shows; so does Heathers'. They are both professional but have a great sense of humor and are easy to talk to. My facial was absolutely amazing (minus the pain from the extractions but what facial is complete without them?) and the bf told me the massages were good; good pressure and relaxing. The place is pretty small so don't come with a friend unless they are also there for their services. They are also 2 doors down from Mazetti's (sp?) a Pacifica local bakery which serves a wide variety of cakes, danishes, breads, and coffees. I think I need to go back ASAP! read more

Heather does THE BEST nails this side of the Rockies (possibly the whole world really). She's super professional and keeps up on advances in her field. She attends seminars, trade shows, and makes sure she knows how to properly pamper your hands. (She can also do lash extensions and other skincare-type treatments!) She's a wonderful person to talk with; funny, witty, and thoroughly entertaining. I have several gift certificates to use. It has always been incredibly difficult to get an appointment. If you don't have about 6 weeks notice, it's impossible to get an appointment. The employees/owner have other jobs and only work very limited hours. Although, whenever I was able to get a facial, it was glorious! But, now the business has closed without notice and I have over $200 in gift certificates but the new owner won't honor them. They didn't run the business or close it in a professional manner. I had a massage and facial about a year ago. I can't remember the masseuse name, but I believe she was the owner. I got undressed and was waiting on the table for a long time..she came in and said sorry for the wait I am waiting for my son to call me. Ok not a problem I have kids and I understand. The massage began and then her cell phone rang, she quickly jumped to the phone and I thought she was going to put it on silent. She was telling me she was nervous because her son hadn't called her yet after school, I could tell. Then her phone rang again, she answered it and started talking..then she walked out of the room to finish her conversation. I was very upset as this ruined my relaxation completely!! i got a gel manicure by Heather almost 3 weeks ago and it still looks great. it hasn't chipped, cracked, peeled, or lost its shine. i'm so surprised! this was my first experience with gel polish and the only reason i'm going in on saturday for another manicure is because my nails have grown out so much. another benefit of this polish is that my natural nails tend to split and peel quite a bit. right now, they feel very firm strong. yea! also, it doesn't hurt that heather is easy to talk to and has a great sense of humor. read more

I just had a massage and facial. Some Positives and one big negative Positives: Salon is cosy, clean and cute, staff is friendly and knowledgeable, music is relaxing and lovely. They answered my emails right away even though they were out of town for a family emergency. Negatives: Although I specifically told MJ that I had problems with blackheads due to a lotion I had been using, I was quite distressed to find (upon arriving at home) that there were still numerous black spots on my face. If she was running short of time she should have let me know and I would have asked that she skip another application of ointments and focus on the problem areas I had told her about. She then explained exactly what the facial would entail. She gave me a wonderful facial...which included cleansing, exfoliation, massage, mask, etc...it was amazing. First time I came to this cute mini-spa was when they had the groupon deal. $77 for a massage and customized facial. I tried out the deep tissue massage by Dotsy and she had some strong hands for a tiny lady. It would of been better for more than one massage but it is worth the experience. After my massage, I met Heather who is an esthetician. I told her about my issue that I am always breaking out due to my poor diet, stress and hormones. I was able to get an appointment the next week. i received a custom facial and it was my first time ever. It was great except for the extractions! Those are never pleasant!! Heather gave me a deal if I seen her for at least 3 sessions the 4th one is free but I realized I never got the 4th one or anything free from the times I saw her after the 3rd time. Anyway, after my first time facial I saw her for every 2 weeks and my skin improved so much! Especially during the time span between of my 1st facial to my 2nd facial appointment, my skin improved so much. No joke! I was impressed by the progress that I decided to see her every 2 to 2 1/2 weeks after every appointment until I got so busy with my schedule. Although, I miss receiving facials from Heather because she was great at answering my questions especially through text messages! I haven't made an appointment with her lately because I am on that broke student income. I think its good to be seen by an esthetician for every 2-3 weeks cause there's a consistency on skin improvement versus 1-2 months after. Heather is great because she cares alot about people's skin and will educate you with the do's and don'ts of skin care. Especially, if you are someone who is lactose, she can tell if you had some dairy products do to the skin results. Heather's awesome! This was the bests $110 dollars I've ever spent! That is the cost for a 90 minute massage at Bella Nirvana. Dotsy is as skilled as the previous yelp reviews claim. She used heated stones on my back and the knots just melted. The massage is thorough, especially including neck and shoulders. A catch I've had in my neck for months is now gone. The best massage I've gotten in the Bay Area by far. It is located in the north end of Pacifica, just about 12 minutes from Noe Valley on a good day. Try it!! read more
