Bell Street Tavern was a little hard for us to find initially, probably because we had already been to Tom's Burned Down :) It is an absolutely beautiful place, but like most places on the island it closes a little early. They have the bar/restaurant area and also a game room with a pool table, darts and TVs. Their menu is pretty good. I recommend the seafood as it's all fresh. read more

Great soup and bread for certain! Other food is good but I would stick to the more casual items such as the chicken sandwich. The atmosphere is open and inviting and the bar is one of the best around - very large with massively high ceilings. The game room means the kids can come as well. Specials on Vikings and GreenBay games for both booze and food. On the island this is probably the most consistant mid-upper restaurants around. read more

first day of our trip to the apostles we emerged from our nine hour car ride famished. not knowing any of the local places, we had to troll around all six of the city blocks that comprise downtown la pointe and this place won. clubby, dark wood, upscale bar atmosphere, good choice of sandwiches, salads, soups, lots of micro breweries represented. they offered a half or whole sandwich/ soup combo, so i opted for the fish chowder and a half veggie sandwich, hub had the french onion soup and a beef sandwich. i won the round here, because that fish chowder was the best single item i enjoyed through the duration of the trip. it was creamy, just thick enough, with chewy chunks of fish, but not "fishy" in a bad sense. totally yummy. the sandwich was tasty because the bread was dense and chewy, and the gouda added a nice flavor. the server, however, was a bit like lurch, ala addam's family. not the warmest or smiliest body in the town, nor too attentive. but good food makes up for a lot. read more

Have been here twice, and had nothing but awesome service and food. It's a very beautiful place and both the restaurant and bar areas are inviting. Good prices, AMAZING food (try the spinach and artichoke dip, it's to die for!), and free popcorn in the bar. I don't know what the one person with a bad review experienced, but it's very hard to believe it happened at the Bell Street Tavern. Awful!!! Against my better judgment (from other reviews) I took a large group here. We had a reservation and were seated immediately since there were only 4 other tables. It took 15 minutes to get a waitress/menus, another 15 to get our drinks ordered and another 15 before the drinks arrived (not foo foo drinks- wine and liquor on the rocks) We were there for over 40 minutes before our food order was taken and when it arrived, 3 of the meals had to be sent back for being cold or steak was WAY over cooked. We were there for THREE hours and 30 minutes of that was waiting for our checks. We ended up canceling one persons meal entirely and the other had to be completely redone. I should mention we are not a high strung group and were pretty chill but we did ask for some compensation and after being refused bu the poor waitress- went to the bartender (there was no manager) and he gave us a free bottle of wine. This was such an embarrassing meal for me as I was entertaining guests from all over wisconsin & wanted to show off the island. read more
