Bell Roofing was great from the git go. We went over pricing and options and I had a very specific color in mind to match my rental property. Something to keep in mind is when you put in a new roof you need to make sure it will match the color of your house and people forget that. Nothing worse then getting a new roof and then having to paint the house. Darius made sure we got one that matched the house. They bought out a dumpster on the day they said they would and the work was done in one day and they arrived and completed on the day they said they would. As a landlord and having dealt with a lot of contractors I was pleasantly surprised to see that they cleaned up all the debris from when they removed the old roof material. I got a 10-year warranty on the materials as well as a 10 year warranty on the repair. They are a bit higher, not much, than other places, but considering how easy it was to work with them and what you get for the money in the long run it's well worth it. Don't use their gutter system, leaves and debris still gets in the gutters. At the corners there's this large hole with a piece of cut out grate. I feel it could have been a better looking job but as you can see, it was just cut out with some metal shears. read more

I hired Bell Roofing to replace a leaking skylight over my sunroom. With their recommendation to also replace the adjoining bitumen roof (which had NOT been leaking), I agreed that they would replace both the skylight and the almost flat bitumen roof in order to better ensure a complete solution to any potential leaking problems. When the first significant rainfall came about three weeks later, the rain leaked into my sunroom. The workman who had done the job came and determined that the adhesive for the bitumen had not properly adhered on the roof, and made that repair. With the next rainfall about ten days later, rain was once again leaking into my sunroom. This time it was determined that the new skylight was at fault, so the Velux skylight was replaced. With one more rainfall, I once again had rain leaking into my sunroom. Shortly after this, the owner of Bell Roofing offered to replace my bitumen roof with a TPO roof (the type of roof typically used on commercial buildings with flat roofs) and reposition the skylight at a slight angle. With this final work completed, and with one very heavy rainfall since then, I can now report no further leaking. In addition to this, Bell Roofing hired, at their expense, a restoration company to repair and repaint my very damaged sunroom ceiling. In the end, all exterior and interior work was done to a high standard and to my satisfaction. read more

My roof sprung a leak and I needed repairs quick and I turned to Yelp to find me a reliable and proven roofer. If you did not know, Yelp does a good job of connecting you with providers that will respond and quote for services quickly. As such, I found Bell Roofing. Out the few estimates I have received, Bell Roofing provided the lowest estimate for the same job as the other roofing companies would. I am also happy with Bell, because they were the first to come out and inspect the roof and give me a quote. Everything was professional. Their back office kept fantastic communication with me and I never once felt that I was just a number in their list of customers. Always prompt and courteous responses. Update: The owner and the entire team who worked with me reached out less than 24 hours of posting the update to the review and are in the process of getting the job finished and addressing the drip issue. Bell did a great job on our roof so we had them re-do all of our gutters and add LeaFree guards. They failed to complete the job per the contract and over half a year later have not resolved the issue. Adding insult to injury even though this section is explicitly referenced on the original contact Bell revised and increase the estimate to account for this section then still failed to complete it. After waiting one full month for an appointment to look at a leak at my chimney, two days before my scheduled date, I received a strange broadcast email from the customer service person. Due to "staff illnesses" and also "a reduction in repair crews", my scheduled tech must be no longer employed and "many repair appointments" were being rescheduled. I could wait another month, if I was still interested. Didn't sound like a good idea to keep rolling the dice. If you need a repair, I'd recommend calling someone else. Ten years ago when the Bell family still owned this business, and Charlie Bell showed up to look at your job, it was well run. My experience two years ago was similar to this, though they did finally show up after multiple cancellations, and they had to come back twice to get it right. We had an 18+ year old roof that had accumulated storm damage over the past year, so we started roof shopping. We received 5 quotes and Bell ended up in the middle. Bell applied the least pressure of all the companies. They let us know if we had any questions, they were more than happy to answer them, but we didn't receive weekly phone calls asking when we would send in a signed contract (like some of the other companies we received quotes from). Bell rearranged its schedule to fit the schedule of our insurance adjuster, and has worked well with our insurance company. All of that plus their decades of roofing experience made picking which company to sign with easy. As for the actually installation, the workers arrived a little before 7AM and left a little after 7PM. They ended up having to replace about 20% of our decking due to water damage and age, but still managed to complete the entire project (about 30 squares) in 1 day. So far, not impressed at all. Just had my appointment cancelled last minute, called that number back to try to reschedule, and was told "I'm just an answering service, try the office." Called another number I found listed, and got the same guy who decided that was a good time to be rude to me. Still had not gotten any information about when I could reschedule, so I called the "office" back again, got the same guy all over again, who was just as "helpful" as the last two times. It has been a rainy month and I had a roof leak and other issues. I called Bell and spoke with Daris, he was courteous and immediately scheduled someone to come out and inspect my roof the next day and give me an estimate. Due to scheduling conflicts and the leak, it was critical to get the job done asap. Tracy and Todd worked together to schedule my job between the rainy days and to fit me in immediately to prevent further damage to my roof as we were expecting several days of rain. The crew arrived on time, actually to the minute at 7AM on a Saturday. The crew was led by "Chalino". Run, do not walk, away from this company. I had them install a new roof only to find that they had left rotting wood decking underneath. When another contractor noticed the issue, I had a professional inspector come out for a post-installation inspection. He found a slew of issues. Neither Bell roofing nor GAF is standing by their workmanship or their warranty. I wish someone had warned me. I am guessing most of the happy customers have not had their roof inspected. Not only did they do a great job on my roof, they were friendly and helpful after the roof was completed , coming out to address a small issue (free of charge). Mr. Bell came out and gave the estimate. He was prompt and on time, as well as friendly and informative. Be aware, he is a roofer and not a salesperson. He wasn't all flashy and used car salesman like. However, I had about 5 estimates given. He was by far the fairest price without having to haggle. I used Bell for a full roof replacement on my 20 year old roof. Michael was extremely prompt for our first meeting to quote the roof and very friendly. The company came highly recommended by at least 6 friends and neighbors. The quote did not arrive when he said it would but I was not in a rush and it was just a day and a half late. When it did arrive it was an incredibly fair price (I have replaced a roof before on another house) and listed four different pricing options, which I loved! I was ready to execute the job as soon as their schedule allowed. Again, we were in no hurry. Our roof had no problems but we needed a new one before they began. Within a few days a different person from the office got in touch with me to send me a contract and told me our roof would be installed on Monday. Having read the contract, I saw that all materials and dumpster would be installed in the drive on Friday, although no one said when this would happen. This was the last I heard from them until I called halfway through the day on Monday to find out what their policy was when it rained considering it was raining and I still had no materials or dumpster or crew (which I didn't expect). Through the day on Monday the dumpster and materials showed up. I was told that the next day that it stopped raining, they would be there to do my roof, most likely Wednesday. It rained most of the week and the roof was not installed until Friday which was just fine. The office thought the roof would be installed Thursday and had to call me back to say it would not. Again, it did not matter one way or the other for us. It does appear that they subcontract their installers and have little control over what they do. My crew did excellent work. They worked quickly, cleaning as they worked and made sure the driveway and sidewalk were clean as they worked. The only reason they do not get a 5 star is because communication with the office and client is so bad. The office feels like another planet that just has no idea what the client is looking for or what the installers are actually doing. They are nice though and try to help! read more

Bell had come highly recommended so I scheduled an appointment from 9 to 9:30 for a consultation. I know I need a whole new roof and was looking forward to speaking to the sales rep about the process and getting a quote. At 9:00 the sales rep text me to let me know he'd be 45 minutes late. Disappointed because I had taken the morning off work and needed to head into my office by 10 so I asked to reschedule the following day at 4 and he agreed. 4:30 the next day, no sales rep and by 4:45 he text to see if he could could come the next day. No thanks. If the sales rep can't keep an appointment then what am I to expect with the roof installation? Very disappointed. After the latest leak in our roof my wife and I decided we needed to have the entire roof replaced. We called a few companies to come out and give us a quote. Bell Roofing was scheduled to come out on Friday morning and quote the new roof. At the end of the day on Friday I was told that I would have my quote by the end of the day the following Monday. Tuesday morning came and still no estimate so after calling their customer service, I was told they would follow up and I would have it by the end of Tuesday. When Wednesday came I was told that the guy doing my estimate was still working on a quote for another project which was obviously far more important and that I would have it by the end that day. I told the new roof rep that I couldn't wait any longer because my roof is leaking and I would have to go with another company. He said "okay thank you" and hung up. No apology at all. It honestly would have been much more helpful if he had told me they don't have time for my little job when I originally called as it would have saved me a week of waiting on nothing. I only gave them two stars because the guy on the phone sounded nice at least. How does this place have such a high rating? After recently purchasing a home, our insurance agent saw a few slight buckled shingles and asked that we have our roof repaired in order to activate home owners insurance. Bell roofing visited within two days of my phone call and found there there were no repairs to be needed on my almost new roof. They were kind enough to write up a letter and saved me a huge headache with my insurance company. Any other roofer would have charged a minimum visit and most likely would have charged us to place a few nails in a couple shingles at a cost of hundreds of dollars. Long review, I know, but worth reading by anyone considering Bell Roofing. We live in a row of town houses, and have a problem with water leaking into our attic where the roof meets the firewall between our house and the ones on either side. I contacted three companies for estimates to fix the leaks and install a new roof, and selected Bell because their Representative was very thorough and helpful. During the inspection of our home prior to the preparing the quotation, I took the Rep into the attic to see where water is entering, and also to some adjacent townhouses to show him how metal covers had been installed over the firewalls to correct the same problem. While the attic leaks were our main concern, we decided to go ahead and install a new roof for additional assurance that the repairs to the attic leaks would be effective. A contract was signed, and a Supervisor came to the house the day before installation to confirm everything was ready to begin. He assured us there would be no need for the roofers to come into the house. Our problems began as soon as the roofing crew showed up the next morning. A few minutes after they arrived, the owner of the company called to tell us they wanted an additional $500 above the agreed-to contract price before they would begin. The reason given was that the roof was steeper that normal. This was hard to accept, since their Rep had measured the roof angle as part of his pre-quote survey. Ordinarily, I would have cancelled the job at this point, but knew from reading the contract that the costs associated with cancellation were more than I wanted to lose. I reluctantly agreed, a decision I would soon regret. The owner then told me they would need to dump roof debris onto our back deck, and haul it through our living room to the front door. For the next three days, our front and back doors were left open, as roofers hauled debris through our house and came in to use our bathroom. We are one of 20 identical townhouses, all of which have had roofs replaced at least once (this was our second). In none of the previous installations over the past 24 years did a roofing company find it necessary to haul debris through the house. As the old roof was removed, no attempt was made to drop shingles into the dumpster. They were allowed to fall straight down onto whatever was below, including our neighbor's driveway and outdoor deck, our shrubbery, our front porch, and our driveway, I was hit twice by falling debris while leaving by the front door, which I had to do frequently to pick up nails from our neighbor's driveway. I cannot imagine how a roof job could be any messier, or more intrusive for the homeowners. Damage to our property included holes punched through an upstairs bedroom ceiling, paint scraped down to bare metal on the front porch railings, black marks from falling shingles on the house exterior and driveway, and four newly installed plants flattened under falling shingles. Although Bell said the roofers would come back and take care of the damage to the property, I went ahead and arranged for all the repairs myself as I had no idea how good the roofers would be at repairing sheetrock, refinishing porch railings, interior and exterior painting, and so on. Although Bell paid for a few of the materials, such as sheetrock mud and paint for repairing and re-painting the bedroom ceiling, we incurred a fair amount of out-of-pocket expenses ourselves, including $385 to replace four plants damaged by falling debris. As I informed Bell at the time the job was completed, we felt the roofers did a very good job installing the roof itself, and we were thus inclined to overlook all the problems associated with falling debris, and workers coming and going through our house for three days. We were just happy to finally have them out of the house. It was not until it rained some days later that we found water flowing down the attic wall, same as before. When I contacted Bell about the leaks, I was told they had not covered the firewalls because they do not work with metal. Huh? I am an Engineer, and had they let me know this beforehand, or while the job was in progress, I could have shown them a number of ways the make the repair without using metal. Looking back, I feel foolish for allowing Bell to scam us out of the $500, for totally disrupting of our home for their convenience, and for leaving me with hundreds of dollars in expenses for repairs and plant replacement. We have a new roof, but are back where we started with the leaks in the attic. read more
