These people were not able to give me simple answers regarding their pricing. I live 30 minutes away from their location and asked how much extra their trip charge would be. They first only would even give me the price after I gave them my first and last name. That's a bit strange, but I obliged. Then they would only tell me the service call would be $125. They would NOT tell me how much was trip charge, but that there certainly was a trip charge.
I asked several times since if I am paying an amount of money, it's only fair I know how much of that is the call and how much is a trip charge. She put me on hold for a bit, then just came back and said "It's $125". They came recommended from a friend which I had told them, but after getting this run around I will be letting that friend and everyone else I come in contact with that speaks of that company of the negative experience I had with them.
I would like to state that I never get so angry or upset that I hang up the phone. That happened here. I've never even reviewed a company on yelp as I never felt it was worth my time. That happened here.
Edit: I called to speak to the manager, and he apparently was on board with this withholding information. Instead of just answering my question, he asked me questions such as "What will it do for you?" The answer was obvious and I told him I wanted to know what I would pay, as is only fair for a consumer. Nope, not having it.
Then he went into this big back and forth about how she answered my "question", as if there were only question that I asked. I'm not sure why a "manager" would argue with a potential customer over semantics as that's very annoying to many people. I told him she definitely did not answer that question, and neither would he. He finally did answer the question but said I wasn't going to let him come out anyways, which is true.
Here is the hilarious part. Their total charge, including trip charge, was the EXACT same fee as a regular service call from the least expensive in town. Since they were recommended by a trusted friend, I would have went from them. However, their insistence on playing games and holding secrets about charges not only drove away my business but will drive away future businesses as mentioning this to those interested (or others reading the review) will probably set off red flags.
Service industries are known to rip off people. If a place itemizes charges, I can show it to family who will let me know if I was charged fairly or ripped off. When you refuse to itemize a charge (which they also told me they wouldn't itemize it at all), that's an obvious red flag that makes me think I avoided getting ripped off. We will never know, and I am glad I could share this experience with others.
I would like to end with that the manager was also quite rude and told me "You are the problem".
So me, a potential customer, asking how much the trip charge is makes me a problem. 10 out of 10 for stubbornness, 0 out of 10 for customer service. He hung up as soon as I told him I recorded the call and was considering posting it as well. read more
