We made reservations about 3 weeks ahead of time to ensure we could dine here after our tour. The outside is exactly as you see in the TV show. The inside is cozy with more room in the back. We were lucky to be seated next to the booth that Ted and Beard usually sit at. The staff was super friendly and helped us to enjoy the continuing Ted moment. For food, we were all very pleased. I ordered a chicken sandwich with chips. The chips (fries) are triple fried which made the fries super crispy on the exterior and so soft and fluffy in the middle. I don't usually like steak fries, but these were fantastic. My kid also ordered the onion rings. The breading was so light and super crispy. I asked the server what was in the breading. She said it had something to do with the local beer they use for the batter. Fantastic way to enjoy some food while in Richmond.

Once inside you are in pub heaven with a traditional looking lounge at the front, you almost walk into the bands as you enter the pub but there's plenty of seating to enjoy the music from a safe distance too. You pass through another section before the place opens up to the main bar at the back. It has quite a continental feel to it, and I can't believe I didn't immediately spot the massive vats at the back - I was too busy admiring the statues on the bar. And it's difficult not to be tempted by the selection of beers when in a brewery and I didn't regret my choice of Achtung. They also serve food and while the main menu is limited to sausage rolls and pies you can also order pizza or sushi which is delivered directly to your table by local takeaways. We learned early on in London that pubs have dining rooms upstairs which usually require a reservation and then the bottom floor is for drinks and meals picked up from the bar. This visit was about stopping in for a pint and grabbing a bite to eat. After acquainting ourselves with the bar menu we ordered food at the bar and were served fairly quickly. All three of us enjoyed our meals but what was memorable for me was I had the best fish and chips here. The versions I had afterwards were not as tasty. The first floor was hoping and lively and loud so if you're looking for quiet this isn't it. Was great for people watching and hearing other people's conversations. The Arms has been here since 1682 and the inside bar is appropriately dark and charming with small sitting areas off the classic bar. Our service was friendly and welcoming. The sightseeing double-decker bus swung by here so it is definitely a historic site.

We wandered through residential areas and finally cut through the worlds smallest alley/pathway towards the river. We curiously ended up at the front doors of two adjacent houses. We passed through the gate noted to take us to the river, a by luck, there was the Bulls Head to the left! This is the only way to find this place. Once inside, this is a treasure on a rainy day - watching the trains on the bridge or rowers on the water. i can imagine it's a sweet spot on a sunny day too to sit outside riverside. check this place out!
