We weren't greeted at all during our visit. This is never a good thing in my book. I immediately noticed how orderly it was at this particular BELK location. It was easy to browse and navigate throughout the store. We just stayed on the lower level but I believe there was an upper level. No one purchased anything but lots of after Christmas clearance and sale items were available. Decent store located inside River Ridge mall. read more

I really like Belk's selections. It reminds me of Woodward and Lothrop (whaa still miss them) and Hechts (waaaaa also miss them). There are two types of audiences for this store: shoppers looking for bargains and people who don't need to look at a price tag. It is obvious what items are for each group. There are lots of choices. Sometimes the store is neat and sometimes it isn't. I don't fully blame the sales team. It is hard to keep up with customers who try on things and put them back just anywhere. I don't like carrying (or using) department store charge cards but sometimes you get an additional savings when you have a charge card. There are email promotions that give you special alerts to additional savings but they send too many notices. I would suggest adjusting how often you want to hear from Belk - or you will hear from them ALL the time. Finding someone to help in the store with questions is hit or miss. read more

I have been to many Belks and have never had such a bad experience. The employee in the jewelry section, Donna, was incredibly rude. We were looking at high end rings and she walked up and looked us up and down as if we couldn't afford them. When I asked to see two different rings she sternly said "Only one at a time." She said it very disrespectfully and rolled her eyes as we walked away. read more

Customer service is not important at this branch. They are very rude, especially if you have small children who are naturally curious. My wife and I used our experience at this store as a teaching point to our son on how not to treat people. The store manager should be embarrassed that he/she is hiring such low caliber folks. read more

Worst service every. I was waiting in line with three cashiers there and nobody spoke or tried to wait on me. Then we they finally decided to come over they took another person who was there when I was the next person. So rude. Worst experience shopping in years. read more

This is a very large store with a bigger variety of name brands than most of the Belk stores we have visited elsewhere. 4 stars instead of 5 is because we waited a very, very long time to checkout. They seemed to be understaffed the day we visited, but we waited so long that it was tempting to leave our purchases behind and go home. read more

Absolutely do not order online from Belk as it's system is uttery dysfunctional. How so? I ordered men's pants in a Belk store. When I received the receipt I noticed the sizes were wrong. We attempted to cancel the order within minutes but were told it was "too late" even though it was within minutes of placing the order. When I finally received the merchandise, lo and behold it was LADIES' pants! Getting a refund took weeks and then more misery to get a refund for the cost of shipping which I am still working on. I'll bet I spent 2 hours on a simple pair of pants. read more

I like Belk a lot actually and would give it 4 stars but the lady back in the jewelry department was not very friendly and seemed like she didn't want to be bothered. Hey lady, by the way, I know Tungsten can't be sized but it can be ordered. I wasn't about to give them my business again with the rude way she had treated me for the second time. I never forget bad service and she is the poster child for it. This is the same lady that I bought my wife's black diamond earrings from and she wasn't that pleasant during that transaction either. So I guess the moral of this review is if you are in customer service and don't like it....CHANGE! read more

Bland store layout, boring but OK priced clothes and shoes, has a nice selection of jewelry (though the so-so attitude of the jewelry counter ladies leave a lot to be desired). Sales always ongoing. Some decent brands, but my wife says the women's clothes are either for the college age or the matronly--nothing really cool for the in-between. "Who's the buyer for lady's clothes in this store? Yuk!" This is the overall comment I hear most often from the missus and her lady friends who shop Belk. Restroom cleanliness, especially the women's restroom, is consistently pretty awful. I've heard from many ladies over the years, including my wife, that they dread having the urge hit...when inside this Belk store. "Filthy" is the term most often heard regarding the River Ridge Mall Belk restrooms. This is definitely an ongoing lack of good management. read more

Went to return a gift my sister in GA sent my 80 year old mother who is in assisted living. I had my sister send me the receipt so I could get the cash back for Mom. Belk refused to give me the cash because my sister charged the item almost 2 months prior. Really? Does anyone NOT charge things now? That's the only way I pay for things. They would only give me a gift card even though I went through the trouble of getting the original receipt. I even spoke with the store manager and she was not helpful at all. Needless to say, I was shocked and disappointed that a huge company like Belk offered such poor customer service and even the store manager was unwillingly to make an exception on such a rigid and unreasonable policy for a $25 item. I guess it is their way of not losing sales to returns by forcing you to take a gift card. Won't be buying from Belk again. read more
