The River Ridge mall is still really nice considering most malls are obsolete nowadays. They have a nice little play area for kids and as well as the Hill City Aqua Zoo. The TJMaxx in this store is amazing and probably my most favorite in Virginia. They are several places to eat or relax within the mall and as well as restaurants surrounding the mall. They have a wide variety of stores for all ages and genres. Located close to Liberty University which is nice for on campus students or family visiting the students. There are also a couple hotels located near the grounds of the mall for those looking. read more

Decent mall with decent stores. First time here was a few weeks ago. We browsed and went into a couple of stores. My niece was shopping for a few more warmer clothing items , in prep for her first VA winter. Obviously, a different cold than Alabama cold! This mall isn't overwhelming. Stores were easy to find. I love that there is a Spencer gifts located here. This store was popular back in my day..... definitely a feeling of nostalgia came over me seeing this store. There's an area in the middle of the mall for kids to play. Rookie's ice cream is on the lower level near Belk. There is also a bar/restaurant (can't recall the name). This mall has come a LONG way in the last 5 years, it's essentially unrecognizable! It's had updates all over, new stores, new restaurants, and full scale facelifts. It now has a child play place, an aquarium, and an outdoor strip mall portion. It's wild the work that was put into this place. read more

The mall was quiet. There weren't many customers in any of the stores. JC Penney's was one of the anchor stores. There was plenty of parking. I hope this mall can survive. read more

I have been living in a Lynchburg for about 15 years and this mall has just gotten worse since I've been here. Taking out the Pac Sun was a mistake. There needs to be more stores for all of the people in Lynchburg to go to. Putting in a TJ Maxx was the best thing they've ever done but taking out the Pac Sun was the worse thing they've done. They have been taking out way too many stores. Making the "Liberty Online" in the mall, was a mistake. Instead of putting Liberty in the mall (which we can find something of Liberty almost everywhere in Lynchburg), they should of put another store in there instead. REMODELING needs to happen before the whole ceiling falls in. I cannot help but look up everytime I am there because of the poor layout and structure. read more

This place is a bit depressing... They have some decent stores... but a lot of vacant spots as well. The theatre here is very new and nice, but that is really the only reason we come here any more. The entire mall could use a renovation. It has some of your typical department stores like Belk, Macy's and Penney's, but even those stores don't carry many of the items that you would find at other malls. This mall has really just become a hang out for teenagers, which is fine because there really is very little else here to attract others. I would recommend heading up to Roanoke to find some nicer stores that have better inventories. read more

Wow...this is a pretty bland mall. For a college town, you'd think they'd have reason to spruce the place up a bit. There are very few good stores in there. I went into Yankee Candle & Victoria's Secret - other then that I passed a few kiosks (cell phone covers, hair pieces, the usual) & some department stores. I was told later that most Lynchburg residents go to Roanoke for shopping, so I guess that explains the mall - but maybe if they did something with the place, they'd get more customers! read more

Two years ago, when I moved from Lynchburg, this mall was depressing. Everything seemed to be closing and everything still there needed a face lift. When visiting town for a wedding, I dropped by to kill some time and was pleasantly surprised. Hardly any storefronts were empty, renovations had gone well, and it seemed to be thriving as well as any smallish city mall can. Time will tell if all how it does long term but I think it has a real future. read more

Glad that they moved Joann Crafts to the mall - I don't have to run all over town to make purchases. It would be nice instead of expanding outward, if they would make a second floor. We need a decent leather shop, a quick convenience store for things like milk and bread (maybe a Whole Foods mini). But, I'm tired of seeing parents drop their 40+ kids and friends off at the mall. Last Saturday, there were a LOT of underage kids standing in doorways, crowding in places where you were trying to shop, begging for change, wanting to know what you're buying, etc. There needs to be a redo on their rules. Children under 17 need to be accompanied by an adult, at all times or kicked out. If you can't get into a rated R movie by yourself, you shouldn't be in a crowd, in the mall, acting a fool and tearing up things. It is not a place to hang out. If you want to hang out, GO TO FUNQUEST. read more

They have a few great stores. Original stores that i enjoyed. Favored Flavors is a must check out! The bathroom were not clean at all though. The mall does not get alot of business. I enjoyed our trip here though. read more

This mall seems to be dying out. There wasn't much going on in there except the movie theater. It took all of 20mins if that to walk around the whole mall. There were stores closing up (going out of business). Not a very lively place. This mall needs some revitalization. read more

This is a dying small town mall. I would go shopping online before coming here. You won't find what you're looking for anyways.

Not a high quality mall by any means. It only has a handful of stores, and most of them are the big department stores you'd expect to see in any mall. The food court isn't anything to rave about, and I'd never heard of any of the restaurants besides Subway. The stores themselves in the mall were ok, but the overall appearance is just run down. The one redeeming factor of the mall, however, is its movie theater. I almost hated to see the rinky dink dollar theater go, but the new theater is fairly good quality. Other than that, I wouldn't come here unless I needed something the same day. Otherwise, shopping online will be your best bet. read more

This is a very small mall with a handful of stores. There is not a lot to do in this small town, but it wasn't packed on a Saturday afternoon like I would have expected. The movie theater was packed with a long line for tickets so leave extra time if that's what you are going for. Parking was easy to find and they have a small food court. It did seem safe and there weren't groups of teenagers roaming like you see in many malls. read more

The stores aren't very exciting and the decor is kinda bland. Still it's a basic mall and there's a little something for everyone here, including a 14 screen theater and the local Macy's, Belk and JCPenney stores. You won't be bowled over, but it's not horrible either. read more

Lynchburg is large enough city that I would think they could support a mall. I never go there to shop - the only thing I do go there for is the movie theater...thankfully they have that! read more

Pretty awful mall to be honest. However, it is all that Lynchburg has and considering no other developers are even trying I have to give it 3 stars. It has a few basic stores and a few good restaurants believe it or not. The Farm Basket, The Pitted Olive, and Blackwater Coffee come to mind. Otherwise not impressive. When it comes to malls, there's a scale that ranges from practically-defunct to the lively and active. Having seen malls that integrate even jousting arenas into their layout, River Ridge Mall comes nowhere close to the upper end of that scale, teetering closer to the end where buildings get demolished. Its saving graces are a good theater and a nearby college population. The mall has the sorts of stores you tend to expect in malls, but don't expect the world of it, either. The layout makes it so that a certain, typically prominent pizza place ended up stuck tucked-away in a corner. There are also a number of start-ups unusual to most mall experiences. For a while, that included an indoor mini-golf course (now closed). Vacancies are many, here, and with the small size of this mall, they seem to overwhelm the place. Perhaps the most activity you see with this mall is a store in a prime location closing and another name already in the mall opening in its place. If you're looking for a store that's a staple of most larger malls, River Ridge Mall is probably a safe bet, but even then, you'll want to check a directory first. read more
