We stopped in to do a little wine tasting. It's a very nice place. The atmosphere is very inviting. We were greeted on entry. They do sell food here as well which we will try on our next visit. The gentleman who helped us was extremely ved all the photos on the bottles. Just some outstanding wines I even had to purchase 2 bottles to take. It was truly a treat to have this experience at this place. I really enjoyed the gift section which had t- shirts and other things for sale. They don't ship wine but I hope that changes in the future. I was visiting from California and would love to get some shipped to me. So if you haven't ever experienced this place please do make a point to pay them a visit I just know you will not be disappointed.

Great peach slushies and Mexican beer! The decor is marvelous! Friendly staff! There's an outdoor stage for music too. I highly recommend this winery.

Lots if cancelled shows this summer due to uncooperative weather. Food trucks:pork both pulled and tenderloin. Jamaican which wasn't that goid and had 45 min waits. Doughnuts. Ice custard Definite high point was "Stella Luna and the Satellites." Lead singer has an incredible range and no tonal issues. You listen to them and wonder why they haven't hit it big. Next high point was the Blueberry Wine slushees. And the weather was perfect. Only negative was the standing water on the corn crib foundations. Too bad no one thought to sweep them off. Next time I am going to wear my lifeguard shirt. Finally, did Brutus get to his car before it got towed?

Overall, this is an awesome winery. Amazing location in the country, quiet and beautiful scenery. The wine was very good, with a large selection. The wine sampling, or a flight of wine, is 4 samples for $5.00. That's a fantastic deal that you cannot beat. The pizza was good, considering the location and their main focus is wine. I highly recommend the Belgian Horse!

Stopped by for a couple of drinks with a friend. We went right when they opened one evening at 3pm. They have lots of socially distanced seating and good prices on delicious wine. They have a rotating wine slushy menu and I ordered a peach wine slushy. The outdoor space was beautiful with lots of flowers and lovely landscaping! I would highly recommend if you're in the area.

My wife and I visited Belgian Horse Winery over the Summer. We have family in the area that recommend them and we felt compelled to try given the fact there are so few winery's in East Central Indiana. The winery is in the Indiana sticks with corn. I could not tell you how I got there because GPS was not cooperating either. So google it, or call directly if you're having issues. Driving onto the property on a hot Indiana Summer I was impressed with the beauty of the surrounding farm land. The main building winery is a renovated barn, so a lot of character. The owners home is adjacent. I found the dirt/gravel lot in great condition with no debris. A step inside and WOW! The bar was in the middle and lots of displays wine related. Everything was well kept and showed nicely. A friendly female staffer took no time to give us a howdy and provide tastings. Both my wife and I love reds, so we tried the Cabernet. It was dark, bold and had a tremendous finish. We ordered two glasses and ends up take several bottles with us along with a pair of stemless glasses. The cool thing about this place is an offering of wine slushies, not easy to find. The large upstairs area is used for live music which I hear is a big draw. It felt a little more like a church sanctuary than a club. But no judgement. They use the upstairs for events such as weddings and are booked up in busy Summer months. The outside patio is also a special events area. A wedding had occurred just hours before our arrival. See pic of the set up with chairs. Belgian Horse will ship your wine if you find it is easier on vacation. Or if you're like my wife and I you love it so much that you order it when you get home. Absolutely recommend!

We went to the Winery on April 24th. (It's becoming a habit..lol). They had Slushies... woo hoo! Peach Bellini is my absolute favorite! They also had Strawberry Mango.. not my fav, and Pink Elephant. The line was well organized and they had told us to bring a cooler for our purchases. It was a beautiful day for a drive through! I purchased a bottle of Aunt Minnie's Blackberry wine. Breaking it open on Mother's Day.

When I drive to an out of the way location with the specific point of a wine tasting, I have the bar set fairly high. So glad this place exceeded my expectations! What used to be an old farm for Belgian Horses, has been converted to a winery and gathering place. The horse barn went through an extensive overhaul with a tasting and seating room on the main floor and a stage and gathering area upstairs. The main floor is filled with dark wood trimming and has the tasting counter on the right side as you enter. The gentleman behind the counter encouraged me to look around after inquiring if I had been there before. There were a few items for sale besides the bottle of wine that were displayed. I decided a tasting was the way to go. For $5, I got three samples with an additional $1 per sample over that. At first I thought that rather high compared to other wineries I've been to, but the server explained that I would get to keep the wine glass (non-stemmed but with the Belgian Horse logo). He also suggested that I could get a free sample of the orange fruit wine slushy thrown into my tasting. I started with a Chardonnay that was light and tasty, but not oakey like some others I've tasted. I thought it would make a great wine to have with dinner. I then moved onto a blend called "Coffee Infused Syrah". This was another delicious wine that really had a pronounced coffee taste. My third selection was from the fruit wines, a Blackberry "Aunt Minnie". The fruit wines are all named after family members and the labels use old family photos (monochrome) to represent the naming. The Aunt Minnie is the most popular wine they sell. It is more of a sipping wine due to its deep and sweet taste. Great for an after dinner taste. The server mentioned his favorite was the Raspberry "Cousin Elaine" which was lighter and more tart than the blackberry. I went ahead and tasted it....great choice. I bought a bottle of it too! I didn't forget to sample the Peach "Uncle Fred" slushy which has peach bellini added to the mix before freezing. OMG! This was so good! It is really popular on Wednesday evenings when the winery has live music and folks want to stay cool while listening. I thought it also very cool that the former bases for the grain silos (large round and concrete) were cleaned and connected to form a patio for the outdoor concerts. They have a small stage by one remaining silo as well. Overall, it was a fun visit and I thought the server did a great job of informing me about the history of the farm/winery as well as the descriptions of the wines. Review #1198

Easy to find in the country of Middleton, Indiana. Walked into the tasting room that is a renovated livestock barn and was promptly greeted by staff. The tastings are $5 for 3 samples and a souvenior seamless logo wine glass. I really enjoyed the catawba and wine slushies. The tasting bar could accommodate nearly 15 people but there was also a lot of indoor and outdoor seating. Staff was very personable and friendly. They have music on Wednesday nights and also food trucks. Must visit!

Peach and ooooo so good apple Carmel slushie to die for!!!!

I bookmarked it then and finally decided to seek it out after spending the day in nearby Pendleton. The winery (which is adding an RV Camp) is easy to find and had plenty of parking in front of the building. I liked that they have a ramp as well as stairs to the entrance. Once inside, there is a large room filled with wine related merchandise, tables for visitors to enjoy their purchases, and a central tasting counter (with seats) so that visitors can sample five wines for $5 or free if you purchase at least one bottle. I was the only early afternoon visitor while there so the owner and I had an enjoyable conversation about wine and mushroom hunting. He grows many of his own grapes (any bottle with "Estate" in the name is from their property), and gets much of the fruit locally. I believe only the white wines used California grapes (?). Anyway, I went through the tastings and noted that I liked the Blank Blanc (10% ABV) right away. The owner suggested it was a dry moscato (I never had heard of one of those.) Very pleasant and tasty. However, after the first tasting, I kept noticing that when I went to take my first sip of each new wine (including a vignole and three fruit wines), I was greeted with a harsh alcohol smell before each wine passed my lips. I commented after the vignole to the owner, but nothing helpful was suggested. Sadly, only the Apple & Cinnamon didn't also have that strong alcohol smell to me. That one was a delightful cider tasting wine, but the finish was too cinnamon for me to drink a full glass. I generally enjoyed my visit and did purchase the Blank Blanc. When I got home, I found that the flute glasses that were used for the tasting are intended for minimizing the bubbles on a sparkling wine. I wondered if the owner had used a dessert wine glass or a standard wine glass instead, would the strong scent have been dispersed in a more pleasing way. I hope that the owner reads this and can try making a change. Review #3561

No yak milk (booo!), but there is wine. However, I must warn all of the people who prefer dry wine:…read moreThere is no dry wine here. It's all sweet. Even the driest of the wines, the Cabernet Sauvignon, is very sweet. So, if you love sweet wines, this place is for you! Right now, they are only pouring a Cabernet, a red blend, a Riesling and a sweet Rose. The grapes are imported, but Woolley Yak has their own vineyard, and the intention is that they will soon start producing wine from their own grapes. You can get a flight of wine, or a glass of wine, or a mimosa, and then you can take your wine outside with you as you explore the grounds. There are picnic benches here and there. There's also a food truck that sells four different types of grilled cheese sandwiches and handheld charcuterie cups. I think food is only available Friday through Sunday, though. I visited with children (well, a teen and an almost tween), but they are a good hang and will play on a playground with the best of them, so we headed straight for the nature play space. The playground was designed to encourage kids to engage in unstructured play, so it has a lot of natural elements all around, like tree stumps, hay bales and logs. My kids are "co-op kids" for life (their early years were spent at a nature-based cooperative preschool), so they thrive with this type of playground. There's also a tire mound to climb, a balance beam to balance on, and a basketball shooting station made from a grain wagon. There's lots of space to run around, and a few trees to climb, too. The big draw of Woolly Yak is the yaks! There are also Babydoll Southdown sheep, Kunekune pigs and chickens that live on the ranch. You can just sit on a bench and watch these animals do their things in their living spaces. Or, if you want a more up-close experience, you can purchase a ticket to one of the animal experiences, like storytime with sheep or tea with lambs. You can also experience brushing the yaks and giving them treats. If you didn't want to do any of those experiences, though, you could just visit the ranch to see the animals for free! There is no admission to enter the ranch or to park. It's a nice place to visit to stroll around and see what you can see.

I will say these are sweet wines so if you're a dry wine person I would go to see the Yaks, not drink the wine. But I love the concept of grabbing a glass or a bottle walking around the grounds and visiting the Yak pen. There is a beautiful pond on site along with a food truck and some picnic tables, which is perfect for an afternoon outside to relax and enjoy nature. The website mentioned sheep, chickens, and pigs, (as well as Yaks) I only saw the pigs and Yaks while I was there however I did not inquire about the other animals, So if you're going for the animals you may want to call as I'm not sure if the other animals are only out certain times.
