brand new kitchen and space managed by the Belfor team.

Belfor of Tukwila recently remediated and restored my property. I had a massive flooding in the first floor of my house. They did an excellent job of dealing with all my concerns about what the flooding could've done to my house and the processes they used to properly remediate. They provided great customer service, especially in dealing with all my questions and concerns, so I felt confident my home was clean. Additionally, I had some initial issues with the project manager for the restoration part of the work. I called my sales person, Michael Markson, and he worked with me on the challenges I was having. Ultimately, Belfor replaced the project manager and made proper amends for lost time. There aren't many companies that will stand behind their work in that way and be fair about things. I also had a really challenging space to work with to set up a full kitchen in a way where I could maximize the counterspace. The Belfor team took a couple of hours brainstorming with me on how we could make it work. I really appreciate their expertise and their creative thinking! Very happy with the results. I highly recommend Belfor for remediation and restoration work, in particular, Michael, and their project manager, François.

    Seamless update!

BELFOR Property Restoration came out and helped me fix some water damage in my kitchen, as well as were willing to help me with custom cabinetry and adding in a built in microwave! I wanted some custom cabinetry done for a long time and they were able to do the additional project for me since they were already there! In terms of the water damage, they were very responsive, professional, knowledgeable on the process and risks with mold, and made my family feel safe and not put out during the process! In the past, I have worked with other restoration companies that my insurance hired and they were very unprofessional and wiped away the mold with bleach, only for it to grow right back. BELFOR puts their customers first and doesn't cut corners. They made sure everything was dried out before starting the repair and didn't go by "it usually takes X days to dry so we are good" but instead did multiple moisture readings to make sure everything was just right. For the custom cabinetry, I am so impressed!!! We used to have 3 cabinets in our island and they were able to remove one, install the built in microwave (which also required electrical work) AND build a new cabinet that matches the rest of our cabinets perfectly!!! What is amazing to me is they took a space that was a cabinet and created a drawer for me. I was worried about changing the cabinetry since we moved into a new build that had nice finishes, but BELFOR made it look flawless and like you'd never know it didn't come that way. We are very very happy with how it turned out!

Tree Damage from January 2019 Seattle Windstorm
    Jason S.

This review is specifically about the process of having an estimate done to restore our roof, exterior and some ceiling surfaces and fixtures inside our house after a cedar tree fell on our house due to a windstorm. My estimator was Collin Daviscourt and I felt that it was worth the effort to pass on a good word about a helpful individual within the company. It was pretty stressful dealing with the insurance company about what was and wasn't going to be covered in the insurance claim. Let's just say that it is not in the best interest of the insurance company to be very thorough in their assessment of all the damage from the falling tree. Collin came over within 2 days of my first call and performed an estimate, taking about an hour. He climbed on my roof, took plenty of pictures and explained to me every item that he would request to be replaced/fixed and why. He went into my attic, looking at the trusses and roof from the inside, pointing out damage that was likely missed by the insurance adjuster. He explained the process of how a punctured ceiling from tree damage would be fixed and how the furniture inside the house would be protected or moved to a safe place during construction. We checked places of the house I would have never thought to look for potential damage from a tree, including all downstairs windows, bathrooms and the garage. I appreciated him explaining his thought process, what he was looking for and taking detailed pages of notes. After the estimate, he offered to work directly with the insurance company to advocate for full coverage for all items damaged due to the tree fall. And true to his word, he followed up with the insurance company repeatedly and consistently. In the end, the insurance company approved a bid from a different restoration company but Collin Daviscourt was there every step of the way, helping me understand how to communicate with the insurance company and following up with the insurance adjuster. I felt that his persistence in presenting evidence of additional damage really helped the insurance company approve a much larger settlement than they initially offered on day one. (over $12K, yes twelve thousand, worth of additional damage that the preliminary adjuster's evaluation did not include) So my suggestion to others Yelpers who deal with these types of insurance claims: do not take the first offer from your insurance company. Even if you get decide to get multiple bids, I wouldn't hesitate bringing in Belfor to evaluate the damage and be part of the discussion and advocate on your behalf. Thankfully, I did decide to because it lead to a fairer settlement for us even though Belfor didn't end up getting approval from the insurance company.

I called Green Planet from seeing their excellent review history and local family ownership, and they aligned their inspection to suit my availability the next day, and the owner David sent their very capable and friendly project manager JJ. He surveyed the areas and two things became clear: he knows his craft and summarizes his findings very well, and he came to our home prepared for any eventuality with his drywall and remediation team resources to inspect as well as perform the work if we chose to (which we did). After pulling the baseboards and carpet lips back, analyzing water/humidity levels within the walls and materials and checking the inner wall beams and studs, he determined it was not black mold and could be normally cleaned as some form of soot/dirt accumulation. This put us at ease for that part. Then on to the shower area, where he not only examined the MDF baseboard area but also checked telltale signs above on the upper wall sand ceiling inside the shower and even in the towel closet. He correctly removed the shower ceiling itself and a few inches of the upper walls, ad well as some of the lower wall adjacent to the baseboard damage to get the complete picture of where mold had been hiding. His team remediated the shower itself along with the attic roof plywood sheeting and trusses which also had some mold growth. And THEN he even realized the mold went a little further beyond so they also removed a small area in the adjacent second bedroom and uncovered the other portion of that same mold stretch on the attic sheets and trusses of our roofing underside. After finding and treating it all, the verdict was that the outer roof (replaced new 5 years prior) was a likely source at one time of a leak, in addition to the contributions made by the shower area and steam buildup due to a 18-inch soffit dropdown lip from the ceiling forming a typical "shower cup" that traps steam and does not vent it properly. JJ also suggested (which we are now doing) to remove the soffit entirely and make it a smooth ceiling since we have a contractor already there and it is not load bearing, and to add a newer fan with humidity sensing if possible, to prevent a repeat of this happening. So they recommended smart things to do beyond just remediation and restoration. All of this operation was done under strict quarantine of the areas affected, sealing off the work areas with tape-sealed zippered access liner walls and appropriate ventilation and drying units, since you do not want anything to spread of be inhaled just in case. JJ was clear about the first estimate and then the second estimate in the adjacent bedroom once they realized they had to extend it. So pricing was both reasonable and accurately estimated. I was present for various stages seeing the progress and getting an explanation for anything I was curious about. Again, I would heartily recommend Green Planet for any services they offer, if this job is an indication of the quality and care they put into doing their work.

We called several emergency water restoration companies, but Green Planet Restoration was the only one able send someone out to access our situation that day. David, our field supervisor, thoroughly inspected the damage and gave us an honest and careful outlook about the restoration process. Optimistically planning on insurance coverage, but realistically expecting denial, he made sure that all work and costs were approved by us before and throughout the insurance process. Thankfully we ended up being covered, and David helped negotiate on our behalf. Olman, our project manager, was attentive and communicative. He kept us up to date with all the work and progress, and helped us coordinate with the workers we had coming and going for several weeks. The crew working on the house was excellent, too! Giovanni walked us through the work, and helped us when we wanted to make adjustments. We made some pretty drastic changes to our spaces, installing LVP in both rooms and painting the wall and ceiling a dark color in one of them. These big upgrades were easily handled. At no point did we ever feel like we were left hanging or out of the loop. Even throughout the payment process, with several hiccups with our insurance checks, they were kind, patient, and understanding. Green Planet Restoration and their team help make a nightmare of a situation much easier to manage. Thank you to the whole team!

This was a stressful situation, and instead of being guided clearly, I felt taken advantage of. From the beginning, you are asked to sign documents stating you are responsible for anything insurance does not cover, but there was no clear or thorough explanation of what that actually meant. Once it was known that insurance was involved, it genuinely felt like the focus shifted to maximizing the claim rather than being transparent with me as the homeowner. The final bill exceeded the "not to exceed" amount I was originally given. When I questioned it, I was told the overage was due to tax but that was never clearly disclosed upfront as being outside of that cap. I repeatedly asked for a detailed, itemized breakdown of charges (labor, equipment, and scope), and never received documentation that clearly supported the final invoice. Communication was extremely poor. I had to follow up multiple times, was told I would receive updates, and those follow-ups were often missed. That lack of responsiveness made an already stressful situation even worse. I ultimately paid the full balance to move on, but I walked away feeling the process lacked transparency and took advantage of a stressful situation. I would absolutely not recommend this company. They urged me to make a homeowners insurance claim right away, saying that the work would surely be more than my $5k deductible. I asked what if we just took some remediation efforts without a claim, and they said just having a dehumidifier and fan in here for several days would already run $3k so I might as well file the claim. They otherwise would not offer an actual estimate for anything. The next day when they reached out to follow up, I said I didn't think it was worth it to file a claim and be out $5k. They then miraculously said they could do remediation for $2-$3k without a claim. I also had them look at another area of the house where we had some mystery water but was now visibly dry. I thought it came from outside rain. The technician said we had a leak and needed a plumber. I got a plumber in later who removed dry wall to look for the leak. There wasn't one. The plumber seemed really trustworthy and replaced a part just in case and was not $$$. But seemed to badly reflect on Robinson.
