The wait was long but the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. There are two different colored ticket queues and the one I was not in was moving much faster. It took me about an hour to get called up. The staff member that helped me was super nice and very pleasant to talk to. They charge a fee for credit cards so you might want to bring cash or a check. read more

Waited 2.5hrs to have a title transferred just to be verbally abused by the clerk at window 7, a heavier-set brunette woman with arm tattoos and very combative look on her face. Several times during the interaction she rolled her eyes while I was answering her aggressive questioning, replying back with insults and honestly just being really mean for no reason. I had been going to this office for years for both dealer batch work and personal tabs/registration work as I've always had a good experience with other employees like Momin, but whoever that was that spoke to me in such a demeaning and insulting way soured my relationship with Bel-Red Auto License for good. I have taken my business to Rainier Auto License in Columbia City instead, they are all generally very nice, lines are not nearly as long, and open on Saturdays. read more

Someone needs to explain how a title and licensing office stops doing titles at 3:00 PM. People work until later than that and if you advertise your hours as being open until 5:00 PM the folks are going to come after work. But spending the time driving here to be told that title services stop at 3:00 PM is an ABSOLUTE waste of time and effort. What a joke. read more

Spent an hour in traffic to get there just before 1pm. They're supposed to be open until 5pm, but on that day decided to close at 1pm. When they saw me walking up, they locked the doors and yelled at me to "come back tomorrow!" I wasted an hour getting there. I won't be back. Update: Well, it's tomorrow. Their phone message still says open for business. But again, after 40 minutes in traffic I arrived to find locked doors. I should also mention the many other people in the same boat. Horrible customer service. Location had shortened hours due to road "conditions", but the roads were perfectly fine during business hours and they still wouldn't let us in even though they were right there at the front door letting another customer walk out. "Renee" at the counter when I finally got there was incredibly rude. She did not treat me with kindness, professionalism or dignity as a human being. I'm friends with the owner of auto licensing in Lacey and my daughter worked there as a title clerk for many years and they would never ever treat a customer like that. Employees at a sub agent for licensing are not only representatives of that location but WA state gov too. I had to go to this location to get a temporary handicap placard after an accident and it was an emotional time for me. The lady who helped me was so nice. This visit was awful. I will never return and if you don't know exactly what you're supposed to do, fill out or have ready, do not go to Renee's window. read more

I would really avoid this place if you could. My first experience here left my with a massive headache. After waiting over an hour, having all the paperwork - the clerk and I went back and forth for almost 30-40 minutes because she kept accepting and rejecting my paperwork. I finally got my registration completed and waited for my title to come in the mail. My fiancé went to a location in Kirkland and received his title just a few weeks after. I'm nearly 11 weeks out and still haven't received mine. Now I'm back in their office, waiting again, for them to fix their error, again. The clerk had some nasty attitude saying "we already mailed it in August", my certificate even has a little slip telling me to come in if I haven't received it. Why would I lie just to come waste more time at this place? I would recommend the Eastside Auto Licensing over this place. My fiancé was able to make an appointment, got his paperwork done in less than half an hour and received his title in less than 5 weeks. I'm not sure why the level of service is so different compared to the two, but you are better off saving your time else. read more

If you're going to be closed because of Covid, at least change your voicemail, saying that you'll be closed and and re-record one saying an estimated open date. Just to keep people from wasting their time mistakenly thinking you guys are open. So as of this review, the re-open date will be 10/18. Bel-Red auto license is a public health hazard. Only two people helping during the middle of the day; counted more than 15 people waiting. After waiting 45 minutes I had to walk out; based on my green ticket number, my total wait time would have been over an hour and a half. Health screening questionnaires should ask "have you traveled recently or registered your vehicle within the last 14 days at the Bel-Red office?" Next day I went to University Auto License; was done in under ten minutes. I'm sure nobody is actually using Yelp to find an auto licensing office but I just couldn't not post something in hopes that someone might save a bit of time and frustration. Moving is stressful. It's more stressful when you have to move to a completely different state and have to transfer everything over, including your driver's license and your car license plates. I arrived at around 8:50am which is 10 minutes before they opened. There were already about 4-5 groups ahead of me. Within 5-10 minutes of standing there, the line doubled in size so I am lucky to have arrived a bit earlier. There is tons of parking as it's in the Crossroads Mall which has a ton of restaurants, stores, and other businesses. They opened the doors at exactly 9am. You walk up to the front to tell the receptionist what you're there to do and then you get a ticket number. You either get a green ticket and white ticket based on what you're there to do. I waited about 5 minutes before my number was called. I had brought most of what I thought I needed in order to complete the title transfer. I had everything except one minor thing which would require me to have to come back again after getting that resolved. For me that was okay because I came the first time knowing that I might have to come back and I wanted to make sure I got everything I needed. The title clerk (his name is Danny) walked me through everything that I needed and even gave me a checklist for everything I'd need. He filled it out, handed it to me, and told me to come back the next time and hand it to the receptionist who would then direct me to an open booth. Throughout the process explained everything clearly and was very nice and polite. A couple weeks later I came back after I finally got everything I needed. I came back on the same day of the week as the first time hoping I can get the same worker. I also came about 20 minutes before 9am and was first in line. Fortunately I did get the same guy who helped me out and I was finished within 15 minutes. I got my plates and paid the fees and I was out the door! Very nice! read more

I do not understand how would those full time employees fine a chance to renew their license, especially when online renewal is not working. Note: They only provides renewal service, but not customized license plate. You'll need to go to Seattle location for it, and make sure you go to the right location. The Washington State Department of Licensing told me how to find this private company nearby their office in order to get new state plates for my car. The facility is located at the Crossroads Shopping Center where there is lots of free parking available. Upon entering the facility, you must take a number from either the white or green ticket machine depending on the service you require. There are signs directly on the wall in front of you indicating the services offered and the corresponding ticket color required to get those services. There are two large, electronic number counters on at least two of the interior walls clearly labeled green or white and the current number of the customer being serviced. In addition to the electronic counter, the ticket numbers are called on the intercom system and a line number is also mentioned at that time so you know where to go to get service. The seating are was crowded. I stood up and read posted literature on the wall poster about the specialty plates available and pamphlets at the table about the State Parks Pass Program. When my number was finally called, I misunderstood the line number I was supposed to visit, but quickly figured out where to go. The young woman who helped me was brusque and assuming. I wanted one of the specialty plates with vanity writing, but she had already begun processing my paperwork for regular plates. When I brought it up, she said I was better off waiting to do it later because it would be cheaper and more convenient in the long run; although I wondered if she meant it would be more convenient for "her" in the long run as opposed to me. She allowed me to go out to my car to get the mileage of the vehicle and return to her booth right away to finish the transaction without waiting in line again. She was very quick at processing the paperwork, but not very personable or pleasurable in her interactions. I was able to get my new Washington plates in less than 30 minutes. read more

I never thought I'd be writing a review for a licensing agency, but I think these guys deserve it. I cleared my schedule to transfer titles for my car with the expectation that I would waste my afternoon here. When I arrived, I was 5 people away from being called up and was told that transactions similar to mine usually take about 15-20 mins. Great. Over an hour of waiting. I can't say it will be like this for you, but I ended up only waiting about 20 minutes before being called up. I gave the person the documents, and he asked for my ID and started typing away. I stood at the window for about 5 minutes before I paid the fee and was set on my way. I can't really ask for much better than that. I also have to add that in this pandemic, the person at the front door was very good at funneling people in and enforcing the social distancing. He kept a professional attitude despite people being annoying. So my tip to you is to go online to their site and print / complete all the necessary forms before coming in. It will significantly cut down your time there. read more

The company I work relocated from WA to TX and lost a title to one of their vehicles. It's been a nightmare trying to get the car registered in the state of TX. The WA DMV referred me to Bel-Red to get an expedited copy of the title since it was time sensitive. It took a little longer than I initially thought since I ended up having to send them another form but I sent them an overnight fedex envelope to send it back to me asap. I honestly didnt think it wuld make it back in time since they didnt get the additional form they needed from me till the day before my appt in TX. The morning of my appt to register it in TX the title arrived and I was able to register the car without having to reschedule my appt. (The appts are currently months out) So thank you Bel-Red! The clerk seemed tired but he explained what he needed and what I needed to complete. Was done in about 15 minutes. Not bad. Now will wait for new WA titles. Was told it takes about two months. NEW LOCATION CLOSE TO LIBRARY I was just there today at the Crossroads Mall to get my vehicle tabs renewed. Now I have 2020 tabular vision! This office in the last few years has been located practically right next door to the Crossroads Library Connection in the main mall building. Previously it was located in the mall annex that is immediately west of the Crossroads theater. VEHICULAR AND VASCULAR IN AND OUT This office only does automotive and boat registration, vehicular and vascular transfers, and annual tabs. Drivers licenses are done at another office. You take a number at the ticket window and then you wait for your number to be called. Just look up at the electronic readerboard to see if your (green or white) number is about to be called. I did not have to wait very long as it was not very busy today. My only minor gripe is that when they do call your number, they should tell you which window to go to (there are seven windows). NOT AS CROWDED AS IT USED TO BE In later years, it has not taken long to wait for my number to be called. But seemingly not long ago, I would have to wait several minutes in a crowded waiting room. This is probably because more and more people are reupping their tabs online nowadays. But to me it is no big deal as I would just simply do a crossword puzzle, or be glued to this phone while waiting. REUPPING UPSIDE AND DOWNSIDE Also, nowadays, vehicle tabs can expire on any day of the month, not just at the end of the month. The downside is your tabs could be expired even though it's not the end of the month yet! So pay close attention to the expiration date on your registration! The upside is that the office does not get as crowded at the end of the month. CROSSROADS CONVENIENCE VS PASSWORD PURGATORY In 10 years or so, this office may no longer be here as online registration and re-upping of tabs at www.dol.wa.gov (esp. with "License Express" = LX) is the way to go for the Millennial masses. LX does have several advantages and conveniences. But some of us Baby Boomers are techno-boobs who don't like to fart around with the pay cut of online registration, especially having to dick around with passwords (which is horse and buggy security technology!). But if you don't use LX, you don't need no stinking password! (but I did not know that until just now.) Instead, you only need your license plate number, last name, and a credit card. But out of lifelong habit, it's just easier for me to come here since I live nearby. But if the DOL gets an app (WHAT!? NO APP?!) and uses TouchID or FaceID, I might re-up my mobile tabs on my mobile device next time! (more on that later after I do a little rambling here) AH YES, THEM WERE THE BAD OL' DAYS! Sometimes things do get better instead of worse (RipleysBelieveItOrNot!). Since the 1970s, Washington has had month stickers as well as year stickers to stick to our license plates, reflecting year around re-upping of tabs. Therefore, people waiting to re-up their tabs were spread out throughout the year, instead of only in January, as it used to be up until the early 70s. That's right, car tab re-upping used to be an annual nightmare of a wait! I'm not sure about postal re-upping of tabs, but there was certainly no online re-upping of tabs available back then. 60 SOMETHING REVIVED W/60'S SPIRIT John Houseman used to do commercials on TV during the 1980s, saying "in my day, we did things the old-fashioned way, we EARNED it!" He also played a stuffy old law professor in the 1973 movie and TV series "The Paper Chase". This was the antithesis of the Spirit of the 60s. Young people of the time, such as myself, hated such old-fashioned attitudes. Yet here I am, in my 60s, not in my teens anymore, coming across like an old fogey (how pharisaical)! OK WA DOL, get an app, LOSE THE PASSWORDS, and get TouchID (or FaceID), so that next year I can relax at home while re-upping with LX. read more

Came to this location on March 30, 2020 to gift my vehicle to a family member. The people who work here are very passive aggressive, not friendly, and look miserable. The senior white women who handles check ins definitely looked like she didn't want to be there. I'm pretty sure greeting customers and thanking them are part of your job description. Big ginger woman with glasses loved feeling privileged and entitled with her passive aggressive comments. Maybe she needed to feel good about herself? I never write a review, but I had to for like the first time in my life. Lady who gave me the ticket to wait was very sweet and nice. Waited for few minutes and this happens. Worst service. Helper is aggressive and rude. I understand the COVID-19 frustration but I never felt such insult in my life. I have been calling and coming here several times since the beginning of this year because documents that they need from me is constantly changing. From 1 to 2 to, like, 5 now. Incorrigible Communication, or lack of training? Cuts me off while I'm trying to ask a question and explain my situation, and yells "don't b frustrated it's not our fault or yours." Tells me to get a doc from other institute but claims that she doesn't know how to do it. (Whole time she shows aggressive behavior and wording.) Tried to ease the mood but tells me to stop complaining. I tried to joke right before I leave because I didn't want this experience to end in such a shitshow saying "oh then maybe I should call my mom" but she yells back "Oh yea go complain and cry to your mom." Like.. WHAT? even though I provided the word 'mom' in the first place, but this insult goes straight to myself and my family.
