When my mother-in-law passed, we contacted Duckett, but the man we met with was no longer there., We met with a woman who said she was the director, she had a really difficult time locating our contract, but finally did. It was an odd meeting, and I felt like she was very new at this. The day of the funeral we arrived on time as the family, when we walked into the funeral home we couldn't find her or anybody, there was a janitor's door open, and a lot of cleaning supplies were still out in the hall. My family came in right behind us and brought it to our attention that there was no book for people to sign in so we had to look for the director ( took us 10 minutes to locate her) to ask her for the book and the stand. When my husband got up at the funeral to to speak, there wasn't anything for him to put his notes on. Again, I went looking for the director to ask her and she said she took the stand to put the sign in book on so she took the sign in book off and carry the stand to where my husband was speaking. It was odd, the entire ordeal was odd. Lastly, and I hate to bring this up, but my mother-in-law looked horrible. She had makeup caked on her and bright red lipstick. I couldn't in good faith recommend this place. Sorry

Sure I was pretty upset in the first place seeing us were there for a funeral, but I thought the whole purpose of those people was to keep everything smooth. The actual interior has water stained ceilings, bathroom fans that are dying much like the whole reason you're there is way better places.

I dealt directly with Matthew, the owner, and he could not have been more professional or nicer. He was always responsive and able to help me out with a responsibility that was completely unfamiliar to me. The job they did was nothing short of phenomenal. They took a collection of pictures I provided (electronically via Google Drive if that matters) and made not only the usual video collage but also a blanket, a jigsaw puzzle, a printed collage board and, the one that garnered the mot comments, this folding memento of my wife. The visitors to my wife's Wake were all so touched and pleased by the job Fowler Kennedy had done that they couldn't stop talking about. Because of that, the experience has been even more distressful. There may be financial issues that have caused them to become so reluctant to return calls. The reason doesn't matter. It's not important to us any longer. It has now been 2 years since we used them, and the reason I waited until now was because we had been waiting for the military plaque to be installed after 2 years. At one point I was told "we have it and will be installing shortly". That, of course did not happen. The few times I was able to get through to a person to speak with I was told either, we are still waiting for it to come it, or it must be in a closet somewhere. How is that an acceptable response. We ended up calling the Veteran Administration to get this done in a matter of weeks. Before the incident with the military plaque, we had already had the headstone in place for the other 2 family members and just needed the engraving for the dates. That went on for over a year. My sister had to hunt down and find out who does engraving at that cemetery by calling headstone engravers in the area until she found someone did that cemetery. My sister even stopped by the funeral home more than once, no one answered. They do not return calls, have been inconsistent when we have been able to reach them and found after a long-term relationship, that we would be treated callously , was hard to understand. Whatever the reason, their line of work is to deal with people at the worst time of their lives, that is a special skill. One that appears they do not possess.

The Bryant family has been a part of the Wayland / Cochituate community for almost 50 years, and the connections they have built over that time are readily apparent. Their mixture of compassion and professionalism is a wonderful thing to find at a time when you need it most. Multiple generations of their family have come to the aid of multiple generations of our family, and their services are greatly appreciated.

At the time, Norwood was a homogeneous settlement of white, Angle-Saxon, primarily Congregationalist families. The Old Parish cemetery was situated on a steep, uninhabitable 3/4 acre piece of land called Sandy Hill in the northern part of the settlement. It should be noted that the cemetery is fenced and locked. You have to reach out to the town to get it unlocked before photographing. I lucked out when I arrived as there was a grounds crew mowing and trimming the glass. One white stone marker I noticed was George W. Johnson, born March 1802 in Sharon and died November 1874 at age 72. Most of the stones are in very good condition and the cemetery is well maintained. I don't have a suggestion for legal parking - perhaps the entrance off Washington. [Review 15253 overall, 755 of 2021, number 1112 in Massachusetts.]

It takes its name from its highest point, Mount Feake, which was named by Governor John Winthrop in 1632 for his future nephew-in-law, Robert Feake, one of the founding settlers of Watertown, Massachusetts. The cemetery was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. Mount Feake Cemetery was designed by Robert Morris Copeland, and was from its inception compared to the older Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge. It stands on a somewhat rugged parcel of land that rises above the Charles River across from the Waltham Watch Company complex. A series of winding lanes, designed to complement the terrain, provide access to all parts of the cemetery. Most of the grave markers are made of granite, although marble and limestone are also well-represented. The cemetery is in pristine condition. I spotted several folks walking and even one woman pushing a baby carriage. The roadways are smooth and the landscaping is well maintained. One person to point out is Roger Ellis (1938-2008) who played four seasons professional football between 1960 and 1963 for the New York Titans. After retiring from football, Ellis worked as a United States Secret Service agent for Vice President Spiro Agnew. His parents George Merrill Ellis and Anna Thompson Ellis are also here in Westwood. This one, which came to be known as the "Hill Burying Ground" or "Hill Burying Place", was laid out near the northwest end of the long gravel ridge that sheltered the rude houses of the first settlers when they first came to Concord. At its east end, the first small meetinghouse was built, probably near the top of the hill. For many years, all burials are said to have been done here on the hill. According to one tradition, the very first area used was actually to the east of the present bounds, although no trace of it has been found. In any case, the earliest graves were either unmarked, or had wooden or simple stone markers that have since disappeared. The earliest marked grave here is that of Joseph Meriam, who died in 1677 at age 47. There are approximately 500 headstones with the earliest (marked) death date of 1677, the latest is 1854.
